Too many of the Waiters did not cover their mouths and noses while preparing drinks and while serving tables. Lucky our waiter has everything covered whenever she came to us.

We loved the venue and took a boat trip from there down the Bushmans river. It was an overcast day but very memorable.

Fun to float on the water, you can dock your boat and join the restaurant, good food, pink gin on tap. When busy, dont be in a rush, can get a bit crazy.. Dogs welcome, on leash.

New owner has done an extreme makeover inside, and outside is soon to catch up.The lounge music is a good appetizer for the live music to come.With the updated appearance has come an updated price but decreased portion size.The view, vibe and beer still make the trip a valuable experience

Very nice location on the river with friendly staff and good food.

Sadly not what it used to be and weve been eating here for over twenty years. The menu is limited, no more of the great platters that they used to serve. The hake was pretty oily, as were the chips. The calamari was good. There are better local options if you are looking for good seafood. Pretty hard to beat the location, its just sad to see it the way it is now knowing what an institution this venue was.

Its been 8 years since my last visit and Im impressed at how the new owner has upgraded and improved the restaurant. Food was great and there were friendly waiters that attended to our drinks needs. Being on the river allowed my kids to explore and keep themselves entertained while we enjoyed our meal. Thank you.

During covid they didnt have a great selection for their menu. But you do get a great view of the river. Definitely worth a try

Very relaxed atmosphere with a great view. The food was very good and the staff were friendly. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. It’s very much worth the bumpy ride. It was a bit windy but that is not the fault of the restaurant.It had a great vibe and view. Everyone had a great time.They could do with a better kiddies menu though.

Having been to kenton On sea for the first time, the location was absolutely breathtaking. Was advised to go to the sandbar floating restaurant and had the starter king prawns which ruined the rest of my evening. Had a bad case of food poisoning which came with me to my next stop and will be calling health services to check the cleanliness and quality of the kitchen. Major disappointment because the local beer was great.

Beautiful setting and Im told the new owner has upgraded the facilities. There were four of us in our party. The cute waiter was very engaging, but forgot that we ordered the cheesy bread for starters and forgot that my mother ordered chips in addition to her salad. My steak was excellent and my partners chicken was good. Parents didnt enjoy their fish, and my mother complained about the baking sheet on the serving boards, but I think thats more of a generational thing. A second waiter - he may have been the manger - handled the forgotten orders excellently and that was the lasting impression of the restaurant apart from the setting. The craft G&T was very good. A Kenton must do!

The service wasnt up to standards, we waited for hours for our food and when we complained the manager wanted to start a fight with us. Not professional at all. We also werent the only ones that complained about it because some customers just walked out.

VERY unfriendly staff and bad service. Called and made a reservation for between 16:00 and 18:00 yet were told kitchen closed when we tried to order food. Management didnt apologize and couldnt find our bill upon request. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

What service? Had to fetch our own drinks at the bar. Other guests were chased away by the owner, with an attitude, as they were occupying their table too long....needless to say the reason being that they were waiting for their food .... so we decided to call it a day and left with them without even getting the chance to order food. Sorry to say but that is not how you treat your customers!!!

We had the hake and calamari platter for dinner last night and it was delicious! We also had a Greek salad which was great with fresh basil in it. Beautiful location and very good service, will definitely go back again

We arrived when the kitchen had closed for the evening. The manageress said she would try and sort us out. We had fish and chips and calamari with chips. It was tops and we left as happy satisfied customers. Thanks for going the extra mile and sorting us out. It was good! !

Had complained about the quality of the calamari and the oiliness of the chips. The floor manager apologised very nicely, however our whole family had upset stomachs starting that night and into the next day - even my mother who had hake and salad. Disappointing.Wed always had top class food there at half the current price. New ownership seems to not have enough culinary expertise.At least the beautiful location will bring us back however, though strictly for drinks only.

Fun place with good burgers. Service can be slow when busy, which is perfectly understandable given the physical layout. Come by boat if you can.

Terrible Service. Non existent. After talking to the manager there was still an indifferent attitude. Had drinks and a small starter then we left to have a main elsewhere. The bill was wrong. Many others have had a similar experience. Sad because the starter calamari we had was very good. You cant run a business like that and expect it to last.

Worst place by far... We went ther for dinner, the manager/owner was siting outside in the corner with friends/family enjoying her life... Only about after 5 minutes she jumped up and helped... Only 2 waiters... Terrible food and service... No waiter manners ...

We came to Sandbar Floating restaurant in the times it says its open only to come to a completely closed place. Very disappointed that I wasted my time driving there.

Stopped in for sun downers. You cant see the sunset but the place had lovely views. Very friendly managers and a good vibe.

I like The Sandbar Restaurant! Floating in the Bushmans River, it has a dining room and bar inside and tables and couches outside on a large set of floating platforms, all covered to protect from the sun. The view is of the river and the opposite bank. Motor boats occasionally coast up to tie up next to the platform and the crew come aboard for a pleasant meal.The food is good - I had grilled grunter and calamari and it was excellent. We were a party of ten, and the waitron coped with our varied choices without difficulty. The restaurant has a full liquor licence and a reasonably priced wine list. It is a good place to visit for a meal.

We experienced really poor service today. The manager / owner has no idea how to run a restaurant or how to handle customers. We were told after waiting over 1 hr for our lunch that they had run out of chips (after being told after half an hour that they had run out of prawns). Surely they knew how many portions they had and could have mitigated the issue or at least have warned us when we placed our order? My father in law who came in later to join us was shoo’d out of the restaurant the way you would chase a dog - unbelievable! We never received an apology. This is such a great spot and it would be a shame if this landmark was run down because of poor management.

Told us kitchen is closed but then cook in front of us. Never any clean tables. Menu was designed by a two year old and waiters hate seeing people walk into the restaurant. Nice view.

Tasty food. At first one can consider it novelty dining, but knowing that you can even park your boat at this restaurant or that the young ones can fish on the restaurants jetty, it makes for an eventful visit, especially seeing that there are not a lot of restaurants to choose from in the area. However, service is horrendously slow. Expect to wait very long for your food, even on slow days.

Actual floating restaurant on the boesmansrivier. Seeing locals dock their boats to grab a few drinks and head off again is common place here. 10/10 would recommend

What a shame! This used to be my favourite place to eat and drink in the Kenton area. Now you are confronted by rude staff and terrible service. Cant comment on the food as the last two chances we gave them we didnt even make it to ordering food before we left. The food used to be OK, but we used to go often just for the atmosphere and location of the place. What a pity.

The bar Manager impressed me a lot, he is up and awake and looks after all customer needs and everything is there before you ask, I he can read your mindWe ate the combo meals and need to say it was finger liking good
