Very interesting places to hang out. Loads of places to chill and eat. However, its quite busy, although theres quite a security presence which makes it less daunting. The area is filled with numerous graffiti art pieces, which I really appreciated.

Maboneng is just a really cool urban space. This is where you get to interact with Johannesburg street culture. Its very busy, its ideal to be mindful of street traffic as you are walking or cycling.

What a vibe and pleasant experience!! As you enter the Precinct, you are greeted by the Maboneng sign hanging across the streets, making it perfect to capture a pic of your experience.There are many mini food shops on every corner to pick from, loads of sitdown restaurants and rooftop parties to keep you well fed and entertained!!Lots of friendly people to meet from different parts of the world, truly making Maboneng Precinct a South African go to hub!My only tip would be that you arrive early, as parking can be quite difficult to obtain at the set place you would like to experience. Also carry cash instead of using your card, as some places require fees at the door.Would definitely visit Maboneng Precinct over and over again!! Dress up and go have some fun!

Jojos Roof Top used to have top service. especially on Sundays. We had the worst experience today. Didnt even stay an hour. Waiter held our food with filthy hands... food was served without cutlery. Only to tell us that they had to wash them first. Ill never go there again. Dont recommend it for anyone. Please dont waste your money?

It was a beautiful, youthful, refreshing experience. Soon as one walks into the famous Street with the giant Maboneng letters hanging over your head you feel the vibrant energy. You are first met by a dozen camera people all wanting to capture this moment in time for you, to look back on and also to post on your social media pages because if you don’t post then it didnt really happen right?Most people are friendly, mostly because everyone is just there to pause and have a good time. The restaurants in the area are a lovely mix of variety. And not your usual big franchise names that you find in every mall. Here you will find some hidden jewels. The Jo Jo Rooftop Lounge is a wonderful offering to this area. One gets to take in some spectacular views from the top while enjoying a meat platter and good music. And when the sun sets the place really comes alive and it becomes hard to not dance. Maboneng Precinct is a young,vibrant and refreshing place that is a melting pot of artists expressing themselves in various forms and older people are given just as warm a welcome. There is underground parking available in the Rooftop Lounge building, which the security guards made us pay R50. Not sure if there are other secure parkings in the area. Alternatively one can park in the street parkings.

There was an a music video shooting in Maboneng by Dumi and Blaq diamond and it was great

The vibe was off the hook. The while area is groove!

That small street it would be nicely if can be closed permanently. So that pedestrians, tourists can take photos nicely without cars disturbing.

Jojos never disappoints the rooftop is gorgeouse especially at night. The vibe is really good, now that we are in the colder months it gets really freezing but you can ask for a fleece blanket and there is a floor below for when it rains and if the cold is too unbearable.

Its three weeks after the devastating xenophobic attacks, looting and vandalism that ravished central Jozi, and the businesses in Maboneng are feeling the ill effects. Its a troublesome before and after picture with the once bustling streets now left pretty empty. The owner at local headshop TK Smoking despondently related how the tourists are scared, and customers are few and far between. Broken and boarded up windows await repair just a block away from the main strip.At no time during our weekend in Maboneng did it ever feel unsafe. People are friendly. There is security keeping an eye out. The food is as good as ever. The live reggae band at Pata Pata was vibing. The food is as good as ever. Now all that is needed is the return of the hipsters.Come on, folks! If you are looking for something fun to do, I recommend going to support the businesses in Maboneng.

Going down a bit. Not sure why. But the Sunday vibe on a recent trip was way subdued. Still has very interesting stores. Great food. And also a bundle of cultures you wont find anywhere else in SA. REALLY nice. Tough parking. Beggars here and there. Also be vigilant in terms of security at night when leaving this hotspot back to hotels or home.
