Excellent tasting Portuguese baby chicken. Service was also excellent. A little gem
Great dining experience, cosy and intimate. Good food preparation, flavours were nice but not amazing.
So we expected Vasco’s to be like their authentic, delicious, good value Bedfordview shop, but it turned out to be inauthentic (only one out of 8 pages of menu was Portuguese), expensive and way below standard in terms of value. Mussels that are tiny and in a sauce that is really bland (have they not heard of New Zealand), and a main course chicken that looked more like a quail. The starter, imported chorizo was delicious, but our baby squid heads were just ok. Maybe they’re trying too hard to be sandton, and haven’t realised yet that sandton wants authenticity. A serious pity.
