Dr Candice is AMAZING!!! She is meticulous in her investigations to understand what the underlying problem is. She took incredible care of my Higgins, who was in ICU for 6 days plus and 3 after surgery. Her communication to us as parents was outstanding, she phoned us twice a day to give us updates on how Higgins was doing, giving us such peace of mind and comfort. Thank you Dr Candice we appreciate everything you did for Higgins. X

SURGERYI would just like to thank Bryanston Vet and recommend them. Our Rottweiler had been limping for some time due to a fracture in the shoulder. We had sent him to our local vet and Fourways however it was not certain that he needed surgery or if he would always have a limp .We consulted with Bryanston vet and they recommended surgery. Our Rottweiler got the surgery and its many months down the line he is now walking and running just fine.Rambo is now happy as always.

Have a little of compassion and kindness wont kill them specially when people are hurting because of a pet. This is not just about money and business if they are in this field it is also for love to the animals and that should be showed from the receptionist to the veterinarian. I was very disappointed to see they dont care for certain animals at all.

Vet did not provide any feedback as to what could be wrong with my pet or discuss whether my pet actually needed to be checked in. Spent a great deal of time explaining to me exactly how much it would cost. Very much felt like the bottom line was more important than my pet - and given the limited options for after hours care in Joburg that feels like exploitation.

I took my dog to Bryanston after he had surgery at another animal hospital. He didn’t take the surgery well and was in a lot of pain, so I took him to Bryanston, so he could get specialist 24/7 care. Even though it was a Sunday, I was helped immediately. Dr. Chad was wonderful and efficient and quickly worked out a plan to manage his pain. Dr. Pretorius continued his care and phoned me everyday with detailed updates. The hospital itself is impeccably clean and the facilities state of the art. After 5 nights in the hospital we got back a different dog. Happy, his operation wound healing nicely, and no more pain. I highly recommend this animal hospital!

I took my dog Frankie to the BHV on Sunday 16 May 2021 because my vet was closed. Doctor L said he had a liver problem, she then called me later that day saying it was chronical liver disease so I said OK I will come fetch him, she said no to leave him. Then she called me on Monday morning saying it was no longer chronical liver disease and they can help Frankie. I left my dog there for a week getting everyday updates from the doctor saying his improving and eating well.On Friday 21 May 2021 Dr L called me early in the morning and said my dog is doing well and that I should come fetch him, that I should feed him chicken and rice, she also said I should change my dog food brand to Royal Canal and buy some by their shop when I come and pick up Frankie. I did as the doctor said and took my dog home. He only ate chicken, was still stumbling and looked very weak. He didn’t even eat the dog food they said I must buy. When I called and tried to make an appointment with Doctor L, she was not available and another doctor could check him out, when I saw the name I when to the website and discovered that she was an intern. When I asked for a senior doctor, they said they will call me back (FYI: if you ever sent a message through their web side keep a copy of your message because if they don’t like what you say they will not reply to you).Hours later I was still waiting for that call and my dog was suffering. I took him to my vet and he said Frankie had internal bleeding so I decided to put him out of his suffering and black stuff came out of his rear (which indicated no liver function). Till today they have never called me back. I just wish that BHV was truthful with me about my dogs’ condition and that they cared about him, now I missed the last couple of days with Frankie.

I made the gross mistake of taking my cat to this hospital on a Sunday, she had cystitis which was nothing serious at the time! After assuring us that they checked her kidneys and that they were fine they gave her an incredibly high dose of metacam which if they had done proper diagnostics on her kidneys would never have given her, we tried everything to get her well again and I spent over 10K on her in and out of my local vets hospital, I lost my beautiful Ming on Monday this week she just never came back from those meds! I want the world to know what happened to my cat because of these people, please dont take your animals here not ever, I wish I could go back in time! Ive heard so many terrible stories about this vet and I feel like not enough people know! I cant bring her back but I can try to let everyone know what happened in the hope that this does not happen again!

I sincerely regret to have taken my beloved cat there . She died after an operation on Wednesday and I really think they didn t care for her properly, I am going to seek advice and file a complaint . STAY AWAY!! DO NOT take your pet to this hospital - My 8 month old puppy was taken into BVH for back pain - They admitted her, in order to run some tests (CT scan and spinal tap). The next day at approximately 13h00 I spoke with Elge Bester. She said everything looks okay after the CT but the spinal fluid looks yellowish and will be sent away for tests. Olga asked to keep her another night for observation, I agreed. I called in at 20h45 to make sure my puppy is still okay - I was told she died in the afternoon because of a possible reaction to the anesthesia, but they arent sure. Not a single phone call was made to notify me or my wife - they said their phones couldnt call out and they said that an email was sent but it bounced. I had to keep calling BVH for updates. My puppy went in to get help with her back pain, but died because of a seizure and cardiac arrest... How?!? Please look at the all the reviews on here, and see for yourself. Save yourself the heartache and stay away from Bryanston Veterinary Hospital.EDIT - April 7 2021 : BVH has sent me a lawyers letter, threatening to take legal action if I do not settle the outstanding balance, even after one of the owners, Remo Lobetti had admitted that they were wrong.

We have always received such excellent, loving and professional support from the entire BVH Team with our English Bulldogs over the years. English Bulldogs have inherent health issues and the BVH have always provided the best support and knowledge in dealing with them to provide them with the best quality life. From, Dr. Ross Elliot who expertly handled Gustos emergency bladder stone surgery, and turning this boy dog into a girl dog to allow him to pee, to Dr. Chad Berman who helped with Gustos chronic heart failure for the last few months of his life, to Dr Jandré Pretorius and Dr. Remo Lobetti who have recently helped with diagnosing heart failure in Mister Higgins and for cautiously and thoroughly preparing him for soft palate surgery to give him the best possible quality of life for the little longer he has with us, and lastly to Dr. Greg Irvine-Smith who has performed a successful soft palate surgery on both Mister Higgins and Boellie - we are incredibly grateful. To all the unnamed nurses - we appreciate you. And lastly, to Vivienne, who always provides such professional help and care at the reception - Brad and I are thankful.

I am absolutely appalled by the service at this vet. My dog went in for surgery and ended up staying there for 5 days all while I was being told shes doing very well with no explanation of why she must continue to stay there. My dog is also on chronic medication and is on a special homemade diet. I was told I can bring her food and medication and that theyll give it to her. However, after bringing her home I see that they did not give her any of the food I was bringing daily (while being lied to that she was eating the food) and they did not give her any of the medication I supplied. I consider this to be gross negligence and highly recommend you seek the services of a more competent vet. I cannot help but think that this vet is not concerned over the wellbeing of the animals they take care of and are much more concerned about lining their pockets.

My story not good. My doggie broke its leg. Took him to Partktown vet for assessment, where I was told to a operation is needed. Unfortunately they could not do the procedure, and they recommended Bryanston. I agreed but need to get an estimate. After the vets discussed the procedure I was told OP will be between 12K and 14K. I agreed to price and OP was done. Everything 💯, until I fetch the dog. I received invoice of almost 19K and disputed this. Dr Irvine Smith approach me and said he never agreed to this price. I said we should phone the vet at Partktown to discuss ( they discussed the PRICING with HIM).He became very aggressive and said pricing got nothing to do with the other vet. He argued and become very hostile. I said I am phoning the other Vet to get an understanding of where they got the price, which he said aggressively I should not phone them as he dont care what they said. In this heated argument I received a urgent phone call and asked to be excused. I walked to a deserted part of the hospital, to take the conversation, and took my mask off(yes I maybe was wrong here, but there was definitely no one close to me 10 m radius when I took off the mask.He started talking aggressively to my daughter (which is 10years old)which I feel is unwanted as she was not part of the argument. When I walked back into his office to continue our conversation, I apologized for taking the call.He verbally attacked me for taking of my mask in a deserted area at the hospital. You see he tried to use a different angle, because he knew he as fault with the pricing. At this stage I lost it and was getting tired of his bad behavior. I stood up and defended myself and daughter. I said I am phoning the other vet Now to resolve the dispute, but he did not want to do this. After several minutes of intense arguing and the other doc phoned him, and he took the call in the other room. He came back and said he spoke to other vet and there was a breakdown in communication. He wanted to settle now, and move on. I HAVE Never Expierence such bad behavior to a client and money hunger aggressive doctor.I want to take this further, could somebody direct me to where I can lay a formal complaint

If you love your animals please do not take them to this horrid place. All they care about is making money and pumping your poor animals with as much medication as they can even if they know nothing can be done for them. Its really sad because you leave all your hope in the hands of these vets and they do not have your animals best interest at heart. Not to mention they havent a clue whats going on in the ICU unit. Your animals are left without supervision, drips not properly put in, messed cages and no water if the animal has accidentally pushed it over on account of being in a small space. The only time they come to check on your animal is when you come to visit them and you have to call and wait at reception while they scramble to clean cages and get things in order( I have witnessed this a number of times) not to mention whenever I visited my animal and asked the nurses how they were doing or if they had eaten and non of them had a damn clue. The only compassionate vet I dealt with was Chris, in my experience the rest did not care at all and had no way of speaking. I did not expect miracles or to speak to my dogs vets because I understood they were busy and I paid upfront without a hassle close to R60000, all I wanted was for them to be honest and do what was best for my dogs.Disgusting place! Youre looking at about R2000-R3000 for consultation plus diagnostic tests in an emergency (after hours). Thereafter, overnight charges and medication are reasonably priced and they do monitor your pet well. Most important, their kennels are kept very clean and admitted dogs in there seem quite happy.

He checked every part of my dog, including vital organs, bloods and all mineral levels, X-rays and ultrasounds. When we had to then book him in, I became hystericall and the reception staff (a lovely brunette lady specifically) comforted me with some tissues, which was wonderful as I tried hard not to make it noticeable. The phone call updates have been wonderful and we are very grateful for the expert insight Dr Singh has, not only on treating and helping a sick animal, but also on after care and the likelihood of specific symptoms recurring if he is brought home too early by eager dog moms and dog dads.If anything, we preferred the late shift staff compared to the late morning staff - but nothing at all to complain about - apart from missing our little boy so much.

When we got there, the rooms were completely empty, but we were instructed to go down to the basement parking...bare in mind it was 19h00, dark, cold and empty down there. We were met by a black gentleman who merely instructed me to put my dog, my baby into the deep freeze, which he pointed out. Really?????I did not bring him to merely dump him at your facility! It was a very very sad, cold way to end an amazing journey with our dog.Not one person questioned the fact that he was actually dead, he was not assessed or looked at in any way. I am not a vet, and although I strongly believed he had passed away, I think that someone should have at least checked and confirmed it.A vet (I think) then joined us in the basement and I queried whether someone is going to actually check. So he half heartedly put his hand on my dogs chest and said no theres no beat. Its not the type of service I would expect from a very reputable vet such as yours.Nothing will change my experience and you cant make it better but I certainly hope that future pet owners will be treated in a better way, with more respect and just a little bit of compassion.

If you love your pet please don’t take them here. These people (Vets?) don’t. This place should be closed down.

Just spent 2 hours in the waiting room. I do understand there is another emergency but my dog is in pain and there is not clear communication that maybe my dog would be better off elsewhere? He has already bitten both of us and he is desperately sore.. get more staff. And advise he ones you have to stop talking unprofessopnaly about other pet owners in our presence.. did we become that invisible?

Shocking Institution!!!!!! STAY AWAY horrific experiences at this place. My story is too long fora review but shocking non the less. What shocks me even more I was reading very bad reviews on their Facebook Page and within days you cannot review them . This tells me they know people are unsatisfied and are covering the bad publicity. Motives and lack of transparency are very questionable if you ask me. Its about the animals but not this place, from reception all the way to the arrogant and uncaring professionals . Truly people, it seems more and more people are making there grievances known, but at what cost to our animals.

Just go to Fourways. Theres a reason BVH has a 3 star review. The place is an utter disaster after hours. Disinterested, incompetent, inattentive reception staff, ridiculous wait times (20min for a basic triage check to check if the emergency case we went in with was still breathing, then a further 45min with no updates and no consult despite the place being empty) and callous, unprofessional, belligerent vet staff who seem to be under the delusion that theyre doing you a favour being on duty. Cant speak to the quality of care because we gave up and had our emergency swiftly and professionally cared for at Fourways 24hr Veterinary Hospital .

Nearly 2 YEARS AFTER THE FACT, Im still TRAUMATIZED by the way they handled my dogs emergency , THEY WOULDNT WAIT FOR ME TO COME SAY GOOD BYE ! AND I WAS 5 MIN AWAY ! Service from the female receptionist over the phone was uncompassionate and condescending when she refused to assist in taking a picture of his paw for a memorial and NOT TO MENTION THEY WOULDNT EVEN WAIT FOR ME TO COME SAY GOOD BYE ! AND I WAS 5 MIN AWAY ! And if that wasnt enough JUST CHUCKING HIS ASHESH ! Driving past or seeing an advert makes me feel physically SICK ! HEARTLESS. Clearly the only concern was their bottom line and have no disregard for the emotional trauma caused by Bryanston Vet ! How does the employees of bryanston vet sleep at night ?! Reading the reviews Im clearly not the only one whos been scarred by bryanston veterinary hospital . I wish that I could give a negative rating .

Best vet hospital to take your pet to in case of an emergency in the WHOLE of Jhb. We had to take our dog to get her nose stitched up on a Sunday and they had a whole team attending to her. Well done guys, this is what professional animal healthcare should be all about.

My dog was referred there recently by my wonderful vets on a Friday afternoon for a disc problem. On a arrival at the hospital we were told the specialist was busy so we saw a vet who then told us this was not an emergency as our dog was still walking. We insisted on a scan and left our doggie there as nobody could tell us when the specialist would be available. Being in the medical profession my self I understood that. Once the scan was done the specialistphoned and immediately operated on our old man....Got phone calls from the specialist twice a day and on visiting him on Saturday was happy to see he was well cared for. Discharged on a Sunday by the specialist who told me telephonically to bring him in ten days for a check up by himself and removal of stichesAppiontment made specifically for the specialist and was told he was on leave but would be seen by the other specialists. On arrival for follow up appiontment and after battling traffic at 08h45 was told my appointment was erroneous. No apology but they did offer to get his stitches removed if we would wait while they tried to find someone to help us. (Seemed to have inconvenienced them dreadfully ). A vet came and fetched him then alleged that he saw a specialist briefly and that he was doing well.... So during this traumatic experience we never saw a specialist once...... Found this very arrogant with very poor front desk support....

Disgusting treatment of our 9 week old puppy. He was vomiting and not eating. The vet gave him an injection which when we took him home made him shake, increase the nausea severely and gave him diahorrea. She did not test for parvo nor did she do any scans to get to the bottom of the issue. She just sent our puppy home. Her demeanour was callous and uncaring. We then took him to fourways vet who immediately did a parvo test and scans. He had an inflamed intestine and they kept him overnight to rehydrate and monitor him.I dont know what would have happened if we had listened to the bryanston vet and taken our puppy home.Seen many reviews further down with the similar experience/story. Seriously not on.

It is not acceptable to run an after hours vet, charge additionally for it, and have people then wait more than 2,5 hours to see someone because its not being run properly. Where are the vets on call for situations like this?

Absdolutely horrified by the experience I have had at Bryanston Vet. I took my beagle of 2 years old to Bryanston on the 7th of February for constant vomiting, he was admitted for 2 days and discharged after various testing being done, a week later he was admitted again with the same symptoms more tests were run and he was discharged again two days later with no sign of improvement, rushed him to Fourways vet this morning who was able to diagnose a foreign object in his intestines within 10 minutes and now my pet is in emergency surgery. I will NEVER use this vet again.

I have brought my dog here several times over the years ranging from after and during hours visits under various circumstances. I honestly dont know what it is; each time I visit I have dealt with different veterinarians there is always a bad attitude from all of them. I dont expect to be treated like the queen, but when Im paying R900 just for a consult I expect consistent professionalism. Each time I have received poor service and most times inadequate treatment which had to be followed up by a different vet.
