This doctor needs to learn about having a sense of sensitivity and empathy for his patients. When I visited him, he would not even let me finish my sentence without inserting his opinion which in general brushed off whatever symptoms I mentioned to him. He made me feel like everything was in my head. I told him I would not have visited if I did not need to, and although he was thorough in his physical, his emotional approach to his patients lacks the openness, understanding and comprehension of other doctor-patient relationships Ive had. Empathy turns a good doctor into an amazing one, which is why I consider this one an average doctor.
The GP (Dr Johan-something) told me I am not your leave officer when I had told him that my cold has gotten worse, fatigued me and started affecting my work. He was so dismissive because he thought there werent any signs for my cold to be something more serious, even when I had outlined my symptoms and had simply said that it feels like a bad cold. I didnt feel listened to and although I am not a medical expert, I deserve an opinion because its my body. I disliked the experience and will not go there again - although his receptionist was professional and helpful.
This place has a doctors section, a dentist section, and even a waiting section xD. The doctor that I went to was a very friendly and informative Doctor (Doctor J van der Spuy), even the receptionist was kind, friendly and welcoming (probably because they wanted my money... but hey, whats new?). I would still recommend this place if you are in the CBD of Johannesburg.
