This is an absolute vegan gem in Johannesburg! Beautiful, fresh plant based, and cruelty free!A small space with a warm, welcoming, and intimate feel to it. The variety of all plant based food items is amazing and desserts are super tasty too!Ariel is an amazing guy and his team is just as amazing!

Forget that its all vegan, gluten and sugar free, the food and drinks are just excellent regardless. The service is also great.In addition to the food service they also sell frozen meals, sauces and ice cream.The only downside is that the restaurant is quite small with little seating and can get quite busy.

Wow. If i could give 10 stars i would. This is the first restaurant that Ive been to that i dont have limit on what I could have from the menu. Also the food was flavorful.This is a vegan + gluten-wheat-sugar-preservative-dairy-Free restaurant.

THIS PLACE IS GREAT.A small, cosey eatery with vegan goodies. First time there today and it was wonderful.One gets free, filtered water with fruit in it as soon as one sits down. The entire menu is vegan.The food was awesome. We shared a pizza and had chocolate cake. The chocolate cake literally had raw cocoa chocolate on top.Please, humans, check this place out.Edit*I left with this amazing chocolate-mint drink, recommended by friendly, smiling owner and... Its really yum. Just go. Go now. Go.

Delicious & healthy food for eat-in or take away. Good drinks, and dessert as well. My only complaint is that the food menu on the chalkboard isnt very descriptive. Id like to know what is in each of the dishes. For example I dont know what an Alpha burger is, and instead not having to ask a million questions, a more descriptive menu would be nice, similar to the drinks & sweets menu that lists ingredients.

Had the burger and the chocolate milk shake. All the food that came out of the kitchen just look amazing. There is an open kitchen and you can see how much preparation goes into their dishes. The food is so delicious; perfect combination of texture and flavours. I noticed how other guests were impressed and complimenting the owner.

This is such a lovely and warm place. Interior is designed in minimalistic and simple fashion as a great counterbalance to the warm service. You are welcomed with lovely wooden bunnies with big hearts. Food is superb and service is attentive and caring. I dont take photos of food but presentation is creative and whole menu plus ingredients are inventive. Image I attached represents a touch of a beautiful souls working there. As I was stranded in a FreeFood* place due to weather change, blue eyes gift me a little chocolate cake to indulge.

As a flight attendant, I usually have meat when I have a layover in Johannesburg but this time I wanted to try something different, fresh and healthy and I really enjoyed the food at Free Food, it felt so good to eat something different and discover other tastes! I had a fresh pineapple and strawberry juice, a granola, falafels and scrambled tofu with spinaches and seeds.I’ll definitely come back for my next layover 😋Thank you Will for this experience!Maeva

Great opportunity as there arent enough plant based casual dining restaurants around and while I appreciate that, I do expect food to be tasty if I must pay for it. Perhaps my palette is spoilt, but I do like flavor in my food and I found it lacking. It was fine otherwise, totally edible, but not interesting for me. Simple fix though. Owner was pleasant and helpful with the menu.

So happy to find a place like this, vegan and considers allergies such gluten. Food is wholesome, nourishing and filling. very healthy portions, which is a plus. Staff is warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this place

My favorite vegan restaurant ever. The most amazing and healthy food I’ve ever eaten. The pressed juices, frozen drinks and desserts are wonderful for vegans who have a sweet tooth. The owner is very interactive with the customers and made sure our every need was met. I will be back many times in the future.

Just ordered the sugar free chocolate cake as a take away. Not sure what the hype is but it wasnt very good. Love where its going though and with a few tweaks it will be a hit

Excellent food! Delicious ,beautifully made, wholesome and the staff isnt bad either. Lovely little place ,a little pricey but you do get what you pay for. Totally worth it and so far the best vegetarian /vegan restaurant I have experienced.

The chickpea burger and sweet potato wedges were very tasty. The chocolate cake I’d pass. The pink lemonade Is more a slush than a drink but refreshing. The complimentary star anise and lemon water is well balanced and lovely.It takes a while to make the food as they prepare when you order but overall worth the experience

This place has a passion for food. I had the kale and sugar bean wrap. Wow, really amazing. Also had both pizzas as takeaway. Both excellent as well. The carrot and ginger juice was a little too overpowering for me. I suggest tempering it with apple or something. Overall a fantastic experience. Im telling all my food loving friends and Ill be back!

Ariel, the manager, puts his heart and soul into the restaurant. The food, environment and service are top class. I would recommend the guilt-free hot chocolate on a cold day, and explore the pizza and curry options. You will enjoy every bite.

Awesome Joint:) The place is a little small and parking can be tricky. Some of the food wasnt exactly my taste, but the menu encourages you to try new things; which led me to having one of the Best unique pizzas Ive ever had. Delicious! need to go back for more.
