From coming into contact with the very 1st person to the very last person, was nothing but a royal experience. We booked our parents in with the game drive and spa treatments etc they were treated like royalty. We hosted a surprise party and Celene youre amazing, we walked into a jaw dropping set up, such attention to detail. The food was divine. Simply a wow experience 👏 We have recommended you to so many family and friends.

Food is disgusting and very over priced, management is nowhere to be found. I dont know why this place has a 4.5 score, I couldnt find one thing that I enjoyed there. Dont waste your money, its literally a dusty hotel with terrible decor and even worse food on a hot mountain.

Thaba Eco Hotel is a very nice place for hosting, with great staff and service. I havent tried the spa but Im interested, Im pretty sure Ill return to the place.

Great views, friendly staff and they have some cheeky names for their buildings and roads. Went there for a team building event at work but I plan to take my family there soon. The place is quite big and they have a hotel, chalets, game drives and more. Its on my bucket list for 2021. Need to explore Thaba a bit more. Just wish the staff had more info on the pricing as opposed to referring us to the website. Personal touch is always a crowd puller, encourage it more by empowering ur staff with info, they are friendly but dont know the prices. Maybe give them brochures or something

The place is absolutely beautiful. I always check reviews of places, so when I read the reviews for this place my standards were set before I even got there. I must say the service of Thaba Eco is spectacular, the reviews were right. The food was out of this world, even though we couldnt sit at the restaurant, you could taste the passion. The ranger OMG the most passionate ranger I have ever met. Would totally recommend going there in summer. I wish they had more animals though 🙂

Wow! Wow! Wow! Their are actually not enough words to describe how amazing our stay was... Their July/August special is not just value for money but you feel like a king while youre there! Thanks to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable,from the reception staff, the porter service, the waiters to the amazing team that run the restaurant! Staying here presently and it’s been an awful experience! Horrible service from the only restaurant on the property, ordered at 5pm and the wrong order arrived. It’s now 19:30pm- our order still hasn’t arrived and our kids are gone to bed hungry. This hotel is not for families- the music and noise from the pool bar is ridiculously loud. It’s a pity, this hotel could be awesome if managed a whole lot better.

The place is beautiful. What I liked about it is the fact that you feel like youre not in Joburg. Its like youre somewhere in the Drakensberg... The Kraal restaurant food is a hit and miss though. My favourite place there has to be the E Bar Roof top. Its vibey and great music was played👌 The waiters need to improve their customer service skills though. But overall experience we enjoyed ourselves 😊

Attended a workshop, staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Conference venue was high quality, conference room and facilities were comfortable, neat and quality furniture and finishings. Beautiful gardens. All refreshments and food were delicious, gracious portions and well presented (at venue and restaurant).Highly recommend!

Wow Wow Wow that place is amazing, the stuff was so professional and our potter Johnson(no longer sure about the name) that guy went all out to make our stay comfortable he even came in to fix our Dstv, I give him 10stars. I recommend this to all couples, we had a double date and it was soooo much fun. I loved everything, the food was alot and delicious, our mini bar was packed with complimentary drinks and snacks. Oh and you definitely have to try their picnic basket, well done Im definitely coming back😜 I also want to mention that our room was exactly as we saw it on the website. Alot of places post pictures but when you get to the venue its so disappointing.

Beautiful spaces. Doesnt feel like you are in JHB while there. Wonderful views at the spa. Staff is friendly and inviting. Easy to lose track of time while relaxing at the E Bar. I also enjoyed the romantic ambience at the Kraal restuarant on my previous visit. I do not recommend their gel nails though. 2 days later and its coming off at the tips have to file my nails. The meat platter is basic.

It saddens me that a year ago I was here at TEH and I rated this place 5/5 because of the service, rooms and food.To provide context my family(12 People) and I decided that this would be the best place to have a 40th Birthday party each family, booked a room, so in total we had 5 rooms. Rooms arent cheap so to receive the service we did was appallingLet me begin with check in. Once we received our keys, we made our way to the room, to find that the veranda door was was broken off the hinge the mini bar was not stocked and none of the room phones worked. When we get to reception the gentleman assisting us just said Ill sort it out. Unapologetic service, with no indication to the customer what exactly will be done. Props to their team for resolving this before dinner( at 6pm). But the bad service continues.4 out of the 5 rooms booked a package that included dinner and breakfast. At dinner we were served our food at 8:30, we reached dinner at 6:30. We were told that we are a big table so we understood.When the youngest at the table received her chicken strips it was totally burnt and inedible. When raised to the waiters attention the attitude and statement from the waiter was and? once again no apologies were made he even went on to say that he is not in charge of what the kitchen does.When the bill arrives everything was added to the bill including the date night package stuff, this took 40 minutes to rectify, not to mention the things that were added to the bill that werent ours.Breakfast the next morning, 4 family members decided to have breakfast early before checkout. Upon arrival their room numbers were taken and they were seated at 8:47 and they ordered their food, the rest of the family members joined at 9:45, food was only served at 10:35. 4 family members waited over 2 hours for breakfast. Once again unapologetic service.The last point was the bill, just like the previous night, everything was added to the bill. To rectify this, this took 45 minutes and we even spoke to the manager on duty.Why is your room number taken if stuff still gets added to the bill, is this hotel billing unaware customers. Please be careful and confirm your packages. this is sad service.

The staff is incredible, a special thank you and appreciation to our waitress Annah at the restaurant along with our cart driver Johnny for their great hospitality and brilliant service they really added great value in our overall experience and enjoyment of the hotel. Absolutely loved it!

Bed was very comfortable and we were surprised by the complimentary bar fridge.However the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors doing everything including toilet duties and snoring.There is also litter in the surrounding area.Staff should maybe monitor the guests and where they dispose of their litter as this is an eco hotel.The view was spectacular and the breakfast was good.The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

We had our year end function here. It didnt feel like we were in Johannesburg! The vibe is amazing and the food was even more delicious. The staff and service is great. We definitely will be returning!

An absolute Gem out in the south of Johannesburg. Perfect tree top Eco bar & lounge makes for perfect sun downers and the pool area a perfect oasis for a sunday dip with cocktail in hand. I have officially made it my secret hiding place, one that you just cant miss.

Decided to have breakfast at Thaba based on previous experience. I am currently having breakfast and I am extremely disappointed. The hot drinks were cold, breakfasts had to be reheated. Everything is below standard and definitely not worth the prices they charge. The portion sizes are below average. You pay good money for bad food and service. Were having our wedding here in November and Im seriously considering canceling because I cannot risk paying a substantial amount of money for poor quality. What a letdown. If youre going to claim to be a 5 star hotel and restaurant, then your service and food should follow suit.

Great place to getaway from the city. However the pool area and bar are close to the garden suites and the noise detracts from the tranquility one seeks in a place like this. The restaurant has great potential but needs to be consistent as meals are well thought out but hot and miss in terms of execution and service.

My personal favourite place. Perfect place for a wedding. I loved the wide open spaces, the nature and the staff.

A couple who happens to be good friends of my husband and i were throwing a birthday celebration for their 4 year old. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, we took a cart to the pool side where everyone was. Needless to say the party carried on till extremely late into the night. We booked in, had breakfast in the morning and the kids were playing in the play area. The food was good and more than anything the mini bar and snacks in the room were fantastic, and the rooms are extremely spacious! Above all the staff and amenities are great honestly!

We took a chance and stopped off at the restaurant for breakfast without first making a reservation.They were very accomodating.Reasonably priced and great food.lovely surrounds.

Lovely place but its like sleeping in a shebeen! The guests are too bloody loud and rude! Parties in the rooms every night! 😡 Do not stay here if you want a peaceful sleep. Even when you report they dont sort out the noise.

The Kraal Restaurant has a wonderful ambiance, decorated to make you feel at home in the majestic Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. Their mussel and calamari starter was perfectly seasoned and the oxtail main was prepared beautifully with the meat falling off the bone. Wonderful evening with the fireplace in the background - would recommend any day! The E-Bar is still closed due to COVID unfortunately.

Went to the Kraal restaurant without making a booking and we were served with such great hospitality from the food to our waiter Steven at Kraal restaurant he was indeed amazing and a great host an amazing restaurant with brilliant service. All the stuff members were so friendly and accommodating.

I looooooooved the experience at the hotel & I wished I had stayed more nights. They have a really excellent service & the staff is really friendly, felt like a member.Definitely coming back some other time

What a gorgeous venue for a party

Recently booked for a night’s stay at the Thaba Eco Hotel for a birthday party. Although the venue itself was stunning and the room that I had personally booked had a stunning view; the other family members in attendance did not have the most pleasant room – with broken doors, no hot water in 3 out of 5 rooms booked.If the above was not bad enough, we had booked for a dinner for 12 – we arrived at 18h00 with all orders being placed before 19h00; most of the meals had arrived at 22h00. When placing the orders, the waiter had given the couples who were on the date night special their menu options and so forth. However, when the bill came the date night specials were still inclusive – this was raised with the waiter and the manager. We were then advised to manually subtract the date night special meals from our bill as they were unable/not willing to do so. After going through the lengthy exercise of manually calculating our own bill – to our surprise, we were charged for drinks that were not ordered by anyone at our table. I do understand that this was a “big table”; however, they capture your drinks and meal choice rather than a manual process- which leaves lesser room for errors.After a whole 45mins of attempting to resolve the issue with the bill; we wrote this off as a bad day for the restaurant. The next morning, I arrived at breakfast just before 9am with one of the other couples and placed our orders for drinks and breakfast. An hour late, the food did not arrive however, we waited it out. A few off the other family members had now arrived and placed their orders and almost two hours (of us being there)- the food arrived. However, the meals that were placed at 08:47 still did not arrive and we had to attempt to find our waiter to assist us with this. The toast for the meals arrived at 09h30 and had been standing there until the food came at 10h35 – to which we had to ask for butter and even cutlery. We had requested the bill, we took at least 20 minutes to arrive, only to see that we had been charged for all meals despite 8 meals being inclusive in our booking. This took an additional 45 mins to resolve; with no one being able to resolve the issue at hand.A manager finally came to the table to apologize and blamed it on a system error amongst other things. We were asked our room numbers on arrival and a manual process of them noting it down at the entrance was done – not sure if this was the system?To further add to this, the restaurant was not COVID compliant with only one sanitizer being available at ONE entrance. They did not wipe down the tables when new patrons arrived (we were there long enough to see people come & go), no sanitizer at the bathrooms or at demarcated areas within the restaurant.The attitude of the management and staff was horrible, the service was even worse. As much as the venue itself was beautiful, if you’re looking for a stress free break and to relax – you’ll definitely not be getting that at this venue.
