Quite good overall. They offer a range of pop-culture goods from Pokémon/Magic the gathering cards to comics and collectables from various categories like your standard DC and marvel to various games and franchises. Unfortunately the shop is a little small and the selection is, in some ways, limited, though that doesnt mean that you wont be able to find what youre looking for. The staff is also super friendly and are knowledgeable on various relating topics.

This is going to be a lengthy review but its necessary and I hope the store owners here me out. The reason for the 1 star review is because the standards of this store have declined insanely. I shop here regularly and for a person well invested in geek culture it is disappointing to see things like these happen.Each time that I visit the store, they have less and less stock. I understand it might be due to the pandemic but, all other competing stores of this sort dont complain about that, their stores look good. I asked to see a Hot Toys figurine of The Mandalorian and the employees there offered to show me an image online instead, in their defense, they said that they want to keep the box in perfect condition. You guys used to display statues on the window and around the store so I was taken aback by this.Their manga shelves are empty, Funko Pop displays are looking terrible. The customer service is still amazing although I have no idea how those employees manage to remain that enthusiastic. It got me thinking that they just love their work.TO THE MANAGEMENT OF HGC PLEASE RETURN TO THE STANDARDS THAT YOU ONCE HELD BECAUSE THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO US NERDS!!

Helpful and friendly staff, decent stock of Funko Pops (including a handful of Chase Editions) and a variety of other things that any comic fan would enjoy. Actual variety of comics themselves are somewhat limited compared to other stores, but this store seems to focus more on figures, clothing and apparel, mugs, and some cosplay outfits (though all sizes seemed to be for kids). Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area.

The customer service is amazing I didnt wait to get assisted, the brand ambassadors have a good attitude.

These guys are absolutely amazing! We needed a costume urgently at short notice for a school concert to be recorded for TV. I phoned on Friday morning, by the afternoon Anton had couriered the parcel to us with overnight courier from Johannesburg to a small town in the Western Cape. Monday morning 9am the courier arrived and the costume was at school 10 minutes later, ready for the dress rehearsal. HGC had no problem to walk the extra mile to assist us and quickly sorted everything out. A huge thanks again Anton!! You guys rock!

The people at the store are incredible and always try their best to answer questions, and if they dont have the answer then theyll tey their best to get it for you! Everyone is very friendly and theyre always stocked with the latest items. Definitely worth a look

I don’t know if I came in at a bad time but the lady working in the store seemed incredibly frustrated and was extremely rude. After inquiring about an item they had in stock that wasn’t in store yet she rudely rushed us for our contact details and yelled when we hadn’t given our mobile number to her fast enough. It’s a shame the store was so empty because I wish there were other customers in the store so that we could have some type of corroboration for her behavior. Terrible experience, I’ll just stick to importing manga and figures from online.

This little store can be a bit difficult to get to due to the overall layout of Melrose Arch but they have fantastic stock. Statues, action figures, Funko Pop!s, comics, graphic novels and even superhero costumes for the kids (as well as a few high quality superhero costumes for adults, from time to time).Friendly staff and a quaint little coffee shop across the hall for a reasonably priced sandwich and some good coffee.They have a sister location at Bedford Centre.

This is a very cool place to look for pop culture merch & collectible items, but not a lot in the way of actual comics and board games.

The best store of its kind in JHB. A real paradise! Lots of stuff that is only available at the store. There is something for everyone. From small trinkets to amazing statues. Costumes that no else in JHB has. The staff are brilliant. We were looking for a flaah costume for my kid and they went out of their way to ensure that we were happy. I will definitely be visiting the store again. I am sure my kids will drag me back there anyways.To sum up, Awesome store, fantastic service!
