Pretty place to picnic, boat ride and feed the ducks. Very peaceful & tranquil. I would say perhaps visit in the morning because it does get quite busy and a little less peaceful after 2pm 😉

Its was relaxing, and stress free. Its a great place to bring your picnic baskets, dates, small family events, pictures etc. There are boat rides R20 for an hour, life jackets are offered. There are sports facilities, kids playgrounds, braai facilities, benches in designated areas, spread across the park. There are house like structures, open for public use, and there are multiple parking areas.

Good place to be with family.... Full of nature things... The trees... The fresh air and the flowers there are awesome

Park attendants were a little bit persuasive and uncomfortable to talk to. Otherwise it is a beautiful environment.

Lots of shade from the big trees and plants.Perfect for hosting small intimate events like Baby showers, Kiddies parties, a light lunch and birthday celebrations.Not a lot of parking, so get there early to avoid parking on the streets.Take your family out for a chilled Sunday stroll, perfect for the whole family!Braai area available for those who want to bring some meat along.

Beautiful but neglected.If you love ducks this is the place for you. A whole army of ducks and a beautiful lake. However the rest of the park looks quiet neglected particularly the children’s play area. A bit disappointing. Allot of the children’s fixtures are broken. The park doesn’t seem to accommodate children’s buggies. The parking attendants also seem a bit pushy. Good, but could be great.

Good service and very reasonable prices for boats riding. We took our son for his first boat ride yesterday and he was over the moon.

A lot more peaceful this time of the year. The benches are situated in places where you really catch the warmth of the sun. Boat rides are a little more expensive. It used to be R10pp now its R20pp (Only accept cash btw)

If you need nature and fresh air, zoo lake is the best place to be at. Cool and more relaxed.

I have always enjoyed the Bowls Club. Its a great place to have after work sundowners or to go on the weekend with your friends and family for a good ol pub lunch! Bowls Club comes highly recommended!

Amazing place for casual meet ups at a local dam (Zoo Lake) also a viable place for weddings or dates. Might also check this place out as a photographer for some garden photography.

I found that its not really about the place itself, even though it does help give a positive atmosphere and beautiful scenery, but rather the company you have with you that makes the place special.

Not well maintained. Too many mapara( drug addicts/homeless people) walking around. Its dirty, the only clean part is by the restaurant and boats.

Zoo lake was awesome. But can you please add more rest rooms, its a big park, and we have to travel from one end to another just to relieve ourselves.

Great park, unfortunately, theyre too many drug addicts who have camped on the park. The government must do something to counter the problem.

Place is big for large group of people without being too crowded. On popular days, the braai place is too small and crowded. Some hangers I think have high jacked the free parking lot and charging people

Very nice place and if you are looking for something fun to do - kids will love the paddle boats. Take with some bread and feed the ducks.

This is a great place to spend time time with your family or friends. The atmosphere is amazing, its nice and huge so it can accommodate a lot of people without anyone feeling cramped.Theres a way area for kids, exercise equipment, and a calming lake. Plus dont forget to bring some bread along to feed the geese and ducks

Great place for a chilled and laid back couple or family outing. There is plenty of ducks and catfish to see and gorgeous people to watch and admire. Zoo Lake presents the illusion of being out of the city when not with its rolling greenery.

People sitting drinking and playing loud music, all different kinds, trying to be louder than the next, at the childrens play area, not acceptable, the volume of voices trying to communicate over the noise of the music, ouch. Then there is a structure built behind the play area where people are living!!!!!!! Really has no one else seen this???? Who is in charge of the property??? Why has is not been removed??? It is not a new structure!!!! Very disappointing... I will not be coming back. I will also not recommend the area to anyone anymore as a safe place to go have a picnic and let your little ones play.

Very sad to see.I live near the park & unfortunately there are not enough bins to cater for the numbers so perhaps some temporary bins placed for big days. Some official wardens / metro police educating & spot fining wouldn’t go a miss. Also cleaners on the day educating as well.

It was amazing, but they should try hiring people that know their duty and are able to assist customers when it involves boating..

Lovely park with a decently sized lake to walk around and enjoy a little nature and space while in the middle of the city. Loads of park benches and pet friendly. Many residents of the surrounding neighbourhoods frequent this park and they are generally very friendly and helpful. One can rent a row boat at a reasonable price to cruise around the lake.

Great friendly people share your walking trail beautiful scenery lots of ducks and birds plenty of quaint benches to sit and admire the scenery and you can also go rowing with your loved ones on the lake I enjoyed the day out

The park is open, no security but policemen only. Rowing is an cheap experience, R20 for boat, you need to pay extra R40 for a driver rowing(one round of the lake . about 20 mins drive) Its better you drive by yourself...

Was first time going. Nice scenery, peaceful and scenic. Grass and some buidling could do with maintenance.

Met a friend for sundowners and having never been must say was great. Exceptionally friendly maitre d and the gentlemen serving us was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back

Disappointing to say the least with the amount of rubbish out of the bins, empty alcohol bottles...people drinking in the park...vagrants living right next to the play area for kids...drug dealing happening in front of the cops...

I spent the evening with some friends at the bowling club. Service was amazing and food was great. Despite the low temperature they made sure we were warm. Also has safe parking

This a truly unique JHB gem! Proper African experience with the mos beautiful views.The people here are so friendly and the drinks are great. My friend almost died and went to heaven it was so good.This place is a must with a group of close friends or a date. Its amazing and will definitely be back❤The face paints are the coolest

Quite a gem. Makes you feel that you arent amidst the humdrum of Johannesburg. You can canoe there, read under the trees, watch the many geese or just have a meal at the Moyo restaurant. If you live in Jozi and need a break from the city it is a must see

Moyo restaurant is a great place to have your yummy African cuisine...they always have drummers and singers playing now and then so if you need a quiet place, this Might not be it. Its a good vibes kinda place...the lake is a great place to chill and relax or just have a picnic

Wonderful and friendly staff. Dogs are allowed but need to be kept on leash. My pup received a complimentary bowl of water and a piece of sausage.
