These people might as well be crooks. I sent a Lenovo Yoga S1 laptop in for board level repairs. In the phone call and the paperwork it was specified that the hard drive was removed as I needed to work on the contents. I explained that all laptop components are working but the motherboard is faulty. It does charge the battery still but there is nothing on the display when powered on. The laptop was sent in round January 2020. A couple of weeks later the laptop was returned and there were no charges, hooray. Then I read the paperwork... Damaged due to: Screen, hard drive - Not a board issue - Cannot source parts.Now this is a business who advertises on their website that they do board level repairs and that they can repair your device when other centers tell you to replace. I didnt even bother opening the laptop from there. A few months later when I did open the laptop, I noticed the trackpoint rubber was missing from the laptop keyboard.... hmmm. I mailed them requesting that the missing part be returned. Let me paraphrase the replay Oh shame... not our problem now get lost.I ordered a replacement motherboard from China, a used part but listed as tested and working. When that arrived, I installed it and imagine my surprise when the screen was fully working, with touch and stylus too! The board however was also faulty with fan, sata port, card reader, wifi, bluetooth and trackpad not working. It was at this point I decided enough is enough, and I buried my head in books and started learning how to fix this myself. The replacement board from China had a missing 120 ohm resistor and capacitor both on the PCIE circuit. I replaced them and the board is perfect. The original board had a blown mosfet on the memory power circuit. This review is written on the fully working unrepairable laptop.Moral of the story, joe public has more skill than their lazy staff who simply couldnt be bothered how that paycheck is made up at the end of the month. Shameful!
