Absolutely atrocious service! Made a reservation (14 days in advance) on the 13/09/20 for car hire on the 01/10/20. Upon receipt of my confirmation I noticed that the vehicle in question was a manual (rather strange as ALL other car hire companies only offer this specific vehicle in automatic). I promptly called them to request an automatic and was informed that they have both manual & auto in the group. I was then put in touch with the branch and informed that I would have to cancel this reservation of I could not have an automatic. I was then emailed a confirmation by the OR Tambo branch on the 17/09 assuring me that an auto will be available for my reservation. 3 days prior to collection I called the branch to re-confirm my request and was given the run around by staff at ORT. I was assured by Colin that as long as I had an email confirming the auto then it would be available upon collection. On the morning of my rental (02/10)/20 I called the branch at 9am for a full 2 hours and nobody answered the call. You get a courtesy message apparently with the MDs direct line to resolve any service related issues. I called and texted the MD (which apparently is a total joke) which went unanswered and no reply to any messages - as expected. I then proceeded to call their national call centre and spoke to a Rakesh who put me through to customer care, she assured me that the manager would call me within a few minutes. This never happened and a full hour had past. I then called them YET AGAIN where a very irritated Rakesh insisted that the manager of the branch would call me within 2 min and if that didnt happen that I should call him back. He never bothered to call... I then kept trying the branch and finally got through around 1pm - a full 4 hours later! Surprise surprise the agent indicated that no vehicle was even allocated to my booking and that only manuals were available at the depot! Desperate, and with zero care whatsoever from any clown at Woodford, myself and the family had to now scramble to had to rent a vehicle with Avis at the last minute and pay the full inflated rack rate without being able to get the 14day advance purchase benefit (bearing in mind this was a +$700 rental) Bottom line this company could not give a damn about customer service or satisfaction. They send you lousy wapp messages with the so-called MDs details which dont even work! DO NOT rent with these people they have no clue about what it like being in the hospitality and service industry.

We hired a car for more than a year. Then we gave the car back in a good condition and clean. We filled the petrol tenk full before we drove in at Woodford.We didnt get our deposit back from Woodford. The excuse were that they had to replace a tyre, fill up the tenk to the amount of R741-00! Thats NOT exceptable to us!!!!!😡😡😡😡

Colin at O.R Tambo was so helpful! After being turned away from another care rental company due to technical errors, he helped my sister and I hire a car, and was more than helpful. He heard us talking about our plans and recommended upgrading our Km allowance because if we went over 20000km (which we did) it would cost us more. Great rental company, and now the only place well go to again. Great prices, and very helpful staff!

Aweful experience in terms of accident.There was a minor accident with front left render and I had take our FULL waiver however they for around that saying full waiver only cover bodywork and not rim.I have always used woodford and been a loyal customer but they have insurance for these cars obviously and the amount I had to fork out was extortionate.And when queried why the answer was simply “I don’t know I just work here”No answer to road side assistance when called as advertised on the dashboard

Car had problems starting. Agreed on 15H00 collecting time. Was back earlier contacted them and said car can be collected. At 15H10 nobody had collected car. Phoned to be told they are waiting for me but will revert back to me. Phoned back driver in Pretoria. I have been sitting waiting for more than a hour now outside in car as I am living in complex.

I first had to wait for 4hours for my application to reflect in your system then they could not help cause I have a african bank credit card which is not accepted by woodford, they could have put it in the website so I could not pay Uber to find out that I could not be helped. Your prices are affordable however the service leaves little to be desired. I would not suggest Woodford car hire to anyone.

Disappointed in this organisations business practices.My wife has gone through the process of canceling her credit card because Woodford car hire made an unauthorised deduction... after they refunded our deposit.Woodford car hire sent my wife a bogus mail showing us damages they claim my wife caused(cutting the ABS line) 10 days after the vehicle had been dropped off, inspected, and deposit paid back. Mind you, no proper inspection was done when dropping the vehicle off.Why would my wife cut the ABS line off this vehicle? She doesnt even know what that is. This would put her life in danger, besides, this is a senseless thing to do...Woodford car hire promptly subtracted damage costs from my wifes credit card without consent or authorisation. When this amount was taken off, she received no notification from the bank, however when my wife initially paid the deposit and when she was refunded the deposit she received bank notifications...? This is extremely suspicious business conduct!There are numerous complaints regarding customer service issues, already damaged vehicles, missing items in vehicles, unauthorised credit card deductions, hidden cost deduction issues, not being able to reach certain individuals who play key roles, and deposit refund issues on googles reviews, please check them out first.Further to this, a certain male employee @ OR Tambo became emotional when I questioned them in this regard. This particular individual only remarked by saying that your wife signed, however upon re-reviewing their terms, Woodford car hire has not acted within the confines of their own rules. (Part 4- Deposits, Refunds)I wouldnt even rate Woodford car hire if the google did not require me to do so.

On the 01st of July 2021 we, rented, a Volkswagen T6 Caravel and/or similar vehicle, for a period of 4 (Four) days totaling R 4255.00 (Four Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Five Rand).On the 4th of July 2021, and in terms of clause 7 of the agreement, extended, the rental period, telephonically, which you Woodford accepted agreed to on the same terms and conditions.Subsequent, to returning the vehicle on earlier than the amend contract term Woodford unilaterally, changed the rental period, back to the initial 4 (Four) days, in order to illegally secure a further amount of R 5337.00 (Five Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty Seven Rand).I immediately tried to resolve the issue with their allege manager (Meseer Hwoson) at OR Thambo Airport, who refused to even provide me with his e-mail address.This is totally unacceptable Bad Service would not recommend them at all.

UPDATE: The refund has still not been received and after contacting Woodford again today, they ave advised that after a refund is processed it takes an additional 3 - 7 days. I would definitely not recommend this company as they are not transparent upfront and with each call something else is said.We booked a car with Woodford in Cape Town, and landed quite late, however, the assistant was quite helpful. We experienced issues when it came to the refund of the deposit. Upon collection of the vehicle, we were advised that the deposit would take up to 7 days to be refunded because the funds are pending and will just be placed back into the account. After waiting the 7 days we visited Woodford again and were told that because we rented the car for more than 10 days the amount was banked and we needed to wait a few more additional days. Yesterday we called Woodford again and were told the transaction was processed at 08h14, and still today, nothing has been refunded. For this reason, I wouldnt recommend choosing Woodford and additionally, you need to phone the Cape Town branch throughout the day at least six times to get someone to answer. This s the second time we have experienced issues being refunded, thus I would rather suggest you go somewhere else.

I am super disappointed in this branch. I made the reservation for an automatic car weeks before the pick-up, just to receive a message on the pick-up day to say they have no automatic cars available. Another message comes through as a reminder of the pick-up time but this time the car is ready for collection. I went to the branch and said I received these messages which made me super confused just to hear sorry maam all the automatic cars are booked out. I wont be using this branch again. The communication between the branch and client is beyond bad.

Fraud personified. Use these guys at your own risk, dont say I didnt warn you. Poor service, lies and unauthorized credit card deductions and theft of money directly from your account long after the vehicle has been returned, random charges for nonexistentdamages, all combined. Dont expect any assistance from the directors either, theyre all in on it. Be afraid, be very afraid! OR Tambo will give you a heart attack, this is no joke!

Im just writing in to formally complain about the service I have received from OR Tambo woodford, I was made to feel like I was a criminal for scratching the rear corner of the bumper on a vehicle I rented, before bringing it in and on time of incident I reported it immediately to the call center and they advised me not to worry they then proceeded to tell me to bring the vehicle in and they will quote me only for when I bring it in I am met by a rude and unpleasant staff member of woodford . He begins to tell me that I shouldnt have said anything and that I should have kept it to myself , I then try to extend my rental for another week and the person in the front tells me its 5900 for a week where I was only paying 3600 for 2 weeks I then go onto your page and see that for the same time i want to rent the vehicle is 1800 for the same time. I am highly disgusted and disappointedWouldnt recommend woodford

From hidden costs, admin errors, rude staff the list is endless.I must also say that they have over the months worked on improving this and even went as far as refunding me when I had funds due to me. STAY AWAY! This is the worst rental company i have ever dealt with, ever. I was given a car with not mats and no mats were accounted for on the check sheet i signed. When i return the car i am now told i am liable for close to R3000 for mats that were not there in the first place ( which i noticed from the get go but they were not on the inspection sheet so i did not question their absence). Now i am being told that the agent who gave me the car insists there were mats in the car, the agent says he insists because the guys at the car wash told him all atios come with mats ( i spoke to him). Samantha the customer care agent i spoke to now insists that their agents word is above what my word coupled with their signed check sheet. They are thieves.

This company has a poor service and I felt disrespect by them twice. The problem with them is that they undermined me as a woman and think I lack knowledge of cars. Both cars Mercedes were not in good conditions and send their drivers (employees) to deliver such cars to clients knowing very well it will be stupid of me as a customer to complain to an employee who was instructed to his job. Clearly they take advantage of peoples lives. Such companies should not be allowed to service people.

Please save your money! They won’t return your deposit! They will charge you for a damage that never was there and amend the contract without your permission. This company is terrible, rather go with a car hire which is reliable. Please don’t go after their cheap cars because at the end you will end up paying more. They will charge for random things, and when you try to reach out to them, their customer support is terrible.

The worst experience ever. After returning the vehicle, continous amounts of money are periodically deducted directly from my bank account and theres unreasonable charges for chips on vehicle...I was charged R4400 for one chip smaller a meallie grain on the bumper of a BMW 320 series... ridiculous. I still havent received my refund on the vehicle returned in mid November 2020. Ive made countless calls to their offices and all they do is give me the run around and claims of sending e-mails to a finance department that seems not to exist. Honestly, I wouldnt advise any one to rent a vehicle from Woodford unless theyre really desperate.

Absolutely shocking experience from Woodford and i suspect they have a case of internal theft. I left my baby seat in the vehicle accidentally on returning it 2 weeks ago. Constant back and forth, like drawing blood from a stone, i eventually was told it was found only to arrive last week for my regular fortnightly rental to find a pram issued back to me instead of the baby seat. Long story short is that I am convinced a staff member has sold it on OR they didnt bother to check the vehicle for the baby seat before issuing out to the next consumer who may have it. I will again post once I get/or do not get clarification

This company is fraudulent and will claim damages when they weren’t any to your account. Upon returning the car, everything was in order with the petrol also filled to capacity. They debited my account for the agreed charges. But four weeks later, they felt like chancers and sent me an invoice about fraudulent damages which they did not call or produce pictures. I have thus taken it up with my bank but they say all I can do is dispute the charge which I will be doing and also going to small claims court.DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY

I rented a car at Woodford OR Tambo over a month ago 14 November and I am still waiting for my deposit to be released. I have spoken to the manager Colin at OR Tambo and he said it would be done over a week ago, blaming the bank. The deposit is R 4000 and I would be careful now rentng from Woodford as you do not get your deposit released back.

This is by far the worst rental service company I have dealt with. A month after having returned the car, I still have not received my deposit refund and nobody seems interested in helping me sort it out. All I get is excuses about their system, being thrown from branch to branch and nothing about my refund being actioned. Unless you have money to throw down the drain, dont bother yourself with these guys. You probably wont get your money back.

This was the most unpleasant rental I have ever had to endure. After specifically requesting a certain vehicle weeks in advance, followed by a call midweek before my arrival and requesting a note to be added on my booking, then finally asking if the car was available just before I made any payments for the booking upon arriving at OR TAMBO, I was assured the car was available. Only to pay and get to the parking lot to find out the car was not available. Then Nasir (the manager on the day) rudely downgraded me to a lower class and for some reason I was supposed to appreciate the part refund that would come out of this more than I should have been concerned about the unacceptable service I had just received. Nasir then told me he would pick up the mercedes I had requested during the day and he would contact me. This did not happen until 9hours later when I drove back to the airport myself because I still was not happy with the car I had been given. Nasir (the manager) made me wait for over 20min whilst he was on his cellphone and busy attending to other people in the process. Until I gave up and left the airport to complete the rest of the weekend with a car I was absolutely uncomfortable with.I have used Woodford only ever since the resumption of car rentals in both Durban and Johannesburg and I have never received such treatment. I’m a regular client and it has never been the same, I’m even considering changing car rentals but I guess this is just one unfortunate booking out of several amazing bookings.I was really unhappy, to say the least. Not to mention I did not receive a formal apology from the manager but he rather expected me to just take what he was offering, he even told me he couldn’t even upgrade me because the other cars were too expensive ...

Excellent service from using the Internet to Book a vehicle, to arriving at the service desk to collect the vehicle and returning the vehicle when finished.We had the use of a Renault Sandero which was excellent value for money and substantially cheaper than the other service providers. Vehicle was spotlessly clean and neat.It is the first time that I have used Woodford Hire, and will definitely be recommending them to others.

All well and fast but please clean the inside of the windscreen well else it reflects streaks. A hirer doesn’t usually have a cloth handy to wipe it clean. I note many ‘luggage scratches’ on the rear bumper sill. In Australia I saw a little attached carpet that can be flipped from the inside of the luggage compartment over the bumper sill to protect it as luggage is being loaded. May be usefull?Else all good thank you

I have been using Woodford Car Hire since 2016 but my last experience from 4/12 up to 11/12 was bad. Had to pay twice for the rental even having the receipt from Woodford, after returning the car on 11/12 no clear info available of what was done with the duplicate payment, selected a model which was not available and instead of upgrade got a downgrade which made me go back 1 day later due to poor maintenance... to sum up, BAD SERVICE... maybe side effects of Covid 19.

Scam artists! They have tried to charge me for extra milage. The have tried to charge me for extra fuel. We had a car that broke down and had to wait for 2 days to get a new one and we were charged with the kilometers they drove while going back with the car we had problems with. Have sent them 10 emails and asked for an invoice that clearly says what I´m paying for but I never get one. At least they are refunding most of my money but there are still some stuff I dont want to pay for. This is NOT the company you want to use. Go for one of the bigger ones instead! They might be cheap but you will get some not so nice surprices if you use the. Worst company EVER!!!!

After renting 3 cars from their ORT branch in a 2 week period without a problem, my next rental was an issue because the same additional driver previously on the 3 prior contracts has not has his drivers license for 3 years yet. I was informed of this after they had taken R 11500 off my credit card. Speaking with Head Office to get the money reversed was a waste of time. Their customer care department had no explanation and also were not too interested in expediting the return of my money. Avoid this small FLY BY NIGHT company and stick with the big car rental companies.

They firstly cloned my credit card ( fact that it was them as it was the first time I used that credit credit card) I tried complaining but they refused to answer my emails or return my calls.Then on my return home they took £50 off my credit card without explanation. The vehicle was returned with a full tank of full, on time and with no damage.I will rather pay the extra and go to Avis/Hertz etc.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, you will be tremendously sorry and will pay dearly.

I booked and returned the vehicle over 3 weeks ago at your cape town branch, to this day I havent received a refund of my holding deposit which was supposed to be refunded within 7 days of retun. Ive tried calling your Head office in Durban and for days no one picks up. When I went to your OR Tambo branch to query, I got told its an issue for different branch and they cant assist. I have since escalated the issue with Wayne Ksia, cape town branch manager, who told me he cannot assist me because its a head office issue. He promised to call me back, its been a few days since and no call has come through from him. Im appalled by such a service from a company that rates itself the best.

Online, I booked a Toyota Fortuner for using around SA, but when I arrived they tried giving me a BMW. On the spot I had to cancel, I was only partially refunded and because I had to rebook through another car rental company last minute, there were no SUV options. I resigned to renting a VW Polo from Hertz. As a result I could not go to half of the places I had originally planned.When you advertise a Fortuner or its equivalent give me another SUV like a Hilux pick up, dont try giving me a sports car and when you refund me please refund me the whole amount.To say the least it will be my last time renting from Woodford.

Drove for half an hour and the tyre went flat. Opened Jack bag to find there is no handle. Dont return the car early . They reduce days and penalise you for kms. Everytime we had a problem the OR tambo branch couldnt help and we had to phone another number . The emergency number they claim is located in the car isnt. So have fun being stranded in south africa on the side of the road with no emergency number , a branch that cant help , and no jack handle .

Terrible!! Fraudulent in the best South African way. It means stay away from them, pay a little more and go with mainstream renter. They are trying to charge me for the smallest stone ship that most possibly could have been there beforehand. They charged me for petrol when it was filled up at the airport with a receipt provided. All in all stay away from them. You have been warned.There was another return next to myself at the same time. That gentleman’s car had marks on it. So the guy ran his hand on the underbody of the car and said he scratched it. Unbelievable but 100% true.
