No man is an Island.you cannot push 1 region or province & ignore the other.How does the NAC expect growth?Seriously, please look to other countries to see how an Art council should be run, in all respects.I have been to local libraries & this is the number one place whereart should, at all times be implemented, the minds of our future leaders are at stake, as it begins with the children,not, already established individuals.Is the goal only to push forth the comforts of which you know well?We need someone who actually lives and breathes art on a daily basis to become the next councillor after this 4 year run...TIP: Do research on a few countries, beginning with Poland/ Krakow- learn from their methodology as far as art & societal movements go.The growth of our country requires to move with the rest of the world. -Yes, we have a South African identity which people enjoy,however we must expand and create a new future,holding onto the roots of our past ancestors,with respects to our own history and art & find ways to use artists,to have them unite from every slum, ally, neighbourhood, home, region, etc.. (if theres an event happening in one region - sponsor the other too?)As far as I am concerned, provisions are made mostly in the Eastern Cape, with the Western Cape being utterly ignored.My adult community is not interested in art,the young minds however, in the Bellville South area,need an outreach program to touch them.In my opinion - Art awakens the child as opposed to the many adults who simply share a smile or grin at the piece.Art is about transformation and bringing an entire nation together,hence my referral to see how Poland does things.More opportunities should be made available for our young minds.Not every child has a computer, let alone internet,this is South Africa after all - thus, the idea to acquire a bursary from one of your options becomes irrelevant, even unknown to aspiring talented 18 -21 year old.Take art to the people,Paint the City, get a panel of artists to mural some spots.Cape Town is the mother city... so do something about it!Honestly, there is infinite possibility,the people in my area think NAC is a joke for ANC.Focus on the children, on our libraries (competitions, bursaries, information, advertising, bill boards.)We must stand out,wouldnt it be wonderful for an 8 year old to say,When I grow up, I want to pain for my city.We need forward thinkers to expand the views of and hearts of our society.
