Victoria Yards is a complex consisting of multiple buildings catering for a variety of activities such as musical, art and etc. I visited Safe Study SA. A community initiative programme which aims to empower young kids from disadvantaged homes. On Saturdays they host the kids and teach them a variety of activities such as painting, board games, dance, art, music etc and offer them some nutritional food. So they use one of the buildings for the activities and some spaces are used for concerts etc. There is enough parking within the facility and it is well taken care of. The community initiative is always looking for more donors who can donate food packs and other things for the kids. Your visit can change a childs experience.
This is a place with many perks. The artists are talented, enthusiastic and friendly.A great place for a photoshoot.Wonderful fresh vegetables gardens. Very clever that they recycle the water for that.It quietens down a lot during the week, which is nice if you want to spend time talking to the artists and learning more about them, or do a photoshoot. If you prefer a market-vibe, go when they have an event. Those are fabulous. There is secure parking.
What an amazing surprise to find this shopping, eating, chilling, arty spot in the middle of what people assume and label the ghetto. I loved the use of rhe, once derelict industrial buildings, now renovated and interesting. There are nooks, crannies and corners to explore for hours with unique stores, interesting and fully South African small industries, gardens, fountains, halls, places to eat, craft beer brewery and a coffee shop with the most delicious fresh bread and treats. Loads of undercover parking, friendly shoppers and staff made this visit an absolute pleasure. A regular market is just the cherry on top in terms of another offering to the public. Victoria Yard is up there with similar spots in London and Cape Towns waterfront. Well done guys, what a find!
The antique look Is amazing. It was great learning more about art pieces collected across different African cultures. But I must say I was disappointed that the shop had few South African work considering how women in rural areas produce similar work. I am Definitely going back to buy some few pieces for decoration. Also Visited a pottery shop with beautifully decorated pieces from cups and tea pots to spoon rests. The pottery also has beautifully painted art. The Potter was amazing and explained the process of making the pieces. Apprently the place run projects to empoer young emerging entrepreneurs though COVID-19 affected some programmers and funding. I loved the plants around the space, makes the place refreshing and natural. Ooh and definitely going back for the amazing hake Kota I had!
Its massive, so much to see and it can be a bit confusing because it weaves into the buildings. But totally worth a visit (or two if you move more slowly.) Other than over priced food, I have no complaints. A mixture of traditional, abstract and African arts with a good number of makers stores. Make sure your budget is set because theres a lot for everybody. One tip, dont wear heels. ;)
This gem of Johannesburg is hidden away in Bertrams. It is filled with creative people selling their art, jewelry, handknitted garments and much more. Tony Bensusan who is a horticultural expert of note will show you around his beautifully tended herb beds filled with exotic edible and medicinal herbs. One can feast on delicious fish and chips or a salad made from the leaves in the garden finished off with mouth watering sorbet . You can even have a Gin tasting Tuesdays see the studios open and all hard at work, weekends are busier and there is safe parking.
The place was really chilled and open, has a lot of stores centered around creative arts. The old buildings being used for a different purpose as stores give the place a vintage urban style. Its a great place to experience joburg art and dining. The place can be confusing a little bit in terms of finding your way around.
Dignifying stylish sanctuary for artists in a tranquil food garden.
Great experience there during special events on Saturday or their monthly market. Chill back vibe, good food, for families or friends, highly recommended!
Absolutely love this gem in the heart of Joburg. Theres something for everyone; from beer to an awesome fish and chips place, fashion and art. Its a total vibe.
It was beautiful, even when just viewing due to COVID. Planning to go in Spring and do a good shop hopping 😍🎉✨The idea is amazing!!! Shops there are rare gems - oh and they have an amazing garden where you can pick fresh vegetables💯💯💯
Awesome venue in the city centre of JHB. Beautifuly renovated space with awesome green areas in between. They have an extensive vegetable garden that feeds 100+ people weekly. The whole vibe of the place is amazing. They have off-street parking that you access via Victoria road - park there rather than on the street.
It was good experience seeing people back again this market was full and also amazing to see all of them wearing masks. I enjoyed the band was playing beautiful live music as people walk around.Upstairs there were all kinds of stuff for sale from clothing, handbags, vegetables, food, sauces and all and it was so good to see people supporting local products. Keep it up Mzansi!
Absolutely awesome venue. Also has an absolutely lovely market, with stalls spanning from paintings all the way to ceramics. More than enough to tickle your artistic fancy. It has that earthy, industrial feel to it (perhaps it was a factory before..?).The only downside is that there isnt too much shading, should you like to spend some time outside. Granted, this is only a problem when its hot.
This is a lovely newish spot for lovers of the arts. There are many artists who has their workshops in the space. Whats also lovely is that you can interact with them - and watch them practising their craft. It is in a not so great area of Jhb...but its an awesome vibe. Plus the fish and chips is for me the old school traditional yummminess.
Fantastic, art pieces, cafes and fast food. Beautiful. Secure parking. Nice people, lovely environment.
Excellent coffee and scrumptious sandwiches at Foakes. Lots of interesting studios to poke your head into. Restaurants looked great, but saved for future visits.
Very good experience lots of things see and food good
Great chilled Saturday vibes.
Live music, good food, good people
Beautiful gardens and a great set up. Parking is a little dodgy, so is the area its in, but once you enter it is a little paradise. First Sunday of every month is a great market with craft goods and great food and drinks
It’s great that you’re looking at your phone or reading this on your computer - now stop and go visit this place, it’s beautiful, fresh, with a creative energy that’s infectious! Let me know what you felt, I definitely enjoy it.
The inside was nice and the little shows there were amazing especially the sorbet shop Sobae
Absolutely love..thanks Mike Wlaker for the tour and the awesome space which you are all creating
Great mix of artists, artisanal gin, craft stores, and food.
Lovely market offering entertainment, organic foods and lots of arts and crafts. Also nice to stroll through the market with friends and draw inspiration from the many artists displaying their work. Parking can be a nightmare to find so try to be early if you mind walking a long distance.
Oasis of Paradise on Earth 🧡🤎💛🖤🤍
Not quite finished but has the potential to become another local attraction. Will rather wait until there are more galleries, stalls, eaterys and other activities before visiting again. I do like the concept and the way the developer is putting old unused industrial space to good use.
Visited after a long time and pleasantly surprised at further develoment. Many bee food options on first Sindays. Not o mention the amazing fireplace!
Stunning, interesting, friendly. Amazing studios and art everywhere. Great cafes. Friendly security. Parking lots. Highly recommended!!!

Omw, what an awesome eclectic mix of AFRICANS. So refreshing, inspiring and positive to see this melting pot of art, food, togetherness, and people. To whoever dreamt of this and took such a big gamble. .. Viva !
Victoria Yards 1st Sundays is a great addition to the JoBurg weekend. The crafts people open their doors and show their work and some of which is amazing from home decor to jewelry to glass work. The glass works also does lessons. Onsite is a bar with their own craft beer, cafe and v.good fish and chip shop. Parking is on street but security visible. Within the complex is a large bed unique space of streets and shops and workshops with vegetables growing. The area it is in is not the best but make an effort and explore this unique space. We went as a group of friends (with kids and teenagers) and really enjoyed it
Really nice atmosphere. The gardens are amazing and has the greatest Fish & Chip shop in JHB.
What a great space! Perfect for all kinds of functions great family vaab
As a vendor at the first Sunday markets (first Sunday of the month), I recommend this venue as an opportunity to get out and enjoy a day in a relaxed, enjoyable, environment, with great shopping at the many stalls available from food to clothes, art and odds and ends.
What a fabulous Sunday outing good music, excellent food and great market. Definately a family outing to remember
Great place to hang out on the first Sunday of every month thats the busiest time other than that its quiet and if you want to chill while grabbing a bite and listening to live performance this is the place to be with great food and drinks to accompany.
Loved the vibe and the friendliness. And yes, safe parking ,Even outside on the road..For those who are stressed out of their kind,a lively place to bring your kids, dogs and the loved ones in your life.
Great flea market,lovely creative people
A great place to spend the first Sunday of the month with your kids. The talented artists and artisans open up their workshops to the public. You and the kids can even practice your artistic talent in some of the ateliers. Also, you can enjoy the fresh food market, stock with veggies and fruit harvested from the edible gardens on the premises.Dont be put off by its location in Lorentzville, you are right around the corner from the historically famous Troyville Hotel. It is worth the drive and the discovery of some of the most uniquely talented artists and artisans.
Very lively and vibrant place. Food excellent, had such a super time. Car guards too....so good and caring.
A lovely concept just outside the heart of Joburg, what was once a depressing warehousing section has been changed into a lively and welcoming haven for artists, designers, and foodies. There is a fleamarket and handcraft area for those who have stalls and there is a lot of art to see and admire. The roads are also planted with vegetables and herbs, giving it all a green feel. For the hungry, there is a grill, a fish and chips shop, and a deli restaurant, while you should also give the Impi Brewing Companys house draught a go.
Love the atmosphere. It calms me and make me feel like Im in a different world. Home away from home.
Amazing and talented Artists and Artisans whose work is on display and may be purchased. Beautiful gardens. Stunning day out. Definitely a place to visit every month, if not more often. Also good food available. Great atmosphere!
Nice place to spend a relaxed Sunday. Live music and different food options.Finding a seat to eat in the afternoon is challenging
Just the perfect mix of good food, artisans and artists. Great place to hang out
Nice place. You can find good food, handcrafts and other amazing things.
Beautiful authentic urban architecture and awesome artist vibe full of energy!Awesome venue for a urban style photo shoot📸🤩Cozy restaurants with some very talented artists displaying their world class work🎨🤩
Lively place with loads going on. Tonnes of food options and you can get craft beer here. Lovely shops to browse through . Warning though that there are no car parks so you have to park on the surrounding streets. There are guys that want to charge you ZAR50 to park, I suggest haggling with them because we got it down to ZAR20
A lovely Sunday afternoon spent strolling through the galleries and workshops.
Its a great space with beautiful edible/medicinal gardens and small businesses to browse. Perfect venue for night of 1000 drawings and their Sunday market is pretty dope too.
Such a lovely space but odd that almost everything was closed on a Sunday, still managed to pop into the Delaney studio and catch and beer and pizza
It’s a beautiful spot, sales from a vendors point of view are VERY slow
Great place for the entire family. Great stores with amazing food and drink options. Clean and Safe
Well worth exploring on their #firstsunday market. The buildings surrounded by edible gardens adds a unique touch to this artists community
Its a really great place to hang out with family and friends. Lots of different products being sold! and lots of different foods.
Love coming here and looking at all the veggies and fruit they grow. It’s such a funky place. I hope they make it through these hard times. Try the SODO pizza, it’s so good!

Wonderful hidden spot with fantastic galleries and artists, craft brewery and a distillery, also eateries with delicious food.Security is just a little bit of a concern.
Old factory buildings sensitively converted into pedestrianised complex of artist & artisanal studios
Calm, easy market, every 1st Sunday of the month
I love how eco-friendly the place is. There’s plants everywhere. 🌵🌱🌿🍀
