They have a great variety, went for a pair of hiking boots the assistant fetched 6 different pairs and got us to fit it and walk up the stairs to test. Amazing service and advice.

Never ever had bad service at this shop. Im preparing for a fully self supported Kruger Park hike and Kyle went out of his way to check my kit , fit my bag and get my tent checked even though he knew that I may not be buying anything. Highly recommended and, of course, I can never leave there without a purchase as there is too much good merchandise in the store.

The staff are generally knowledgeable, and if they don’t know they are wise enough to ask someone who will know.This sometimes comes at a price though, so other places might be cheaper but good luck getting any reliable info from the cheaper chain stores.If you need a specific price of kit this is the place to go.

This is one of the best outdoor retailers in South Africa. They stock a wide range of products and the staff are not only very helpful, but also very well educated about outdoor equipment. This is by far my most favorite place to go shopping for camping or backpacking gear!

Ok so Drifters is the only place I m going to go to for a 3 season tent to handle the Drakensberg - winds and gusts way past 70km/h, wind direction that keeps shifting, torrential rain at a moments notice, scary hail storms in summer and snow always possible.It helps to also chat to Philip - the super tall bearded guy - about the kind of weather the tent needs to sneeze at. This shop has been around for over 20 years, and all the staff are mountain geeks. They get you set up nicely for the Himalayas, Patagonia and more. So whenever I need mountain gear I can trust with my life, I just head there.No it wont be cheap, but compared to whats available in general outdoor, camping and sporting stores, Drifters may come in a bit higher.... But with the quality that lets me survive another day in the mountains. My next pair of trekking boots will probably be from them too.

Probably the best stocked adventure gear shop in SA. They carry a vast selection of recognized brands and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This new adventure centre is a vast improvement over the previous Sandton City shop. Definitely worth a visit if you looking to kit yourself out.

Great range, great advice. Sometimes the guys working there are a little introverted, so ask them to help you and they will. Range includes heavy duty high peak gear, climbing (rope, not ladder) general camping stuff and much more. Go for a browse on your own risk - you will leave with something and it will be cool cause you are a gear junky!!!

The bigger, better Drifters Adventure Center is an impressive upgrade from the original Sandton store. The staff are knowledgeable and have the wherewithal to let you browse through the huge variety of sporting and camping goods without hassling you until you have a question.They even have ski-gear, which is pretty hard to find in Gauteng.
