Great food, great service and great location. Menu has great options and isnt too expensive, especially considering the stunning location. Plenty parking, bathrooms were spotless too. Bonus, pet friendly. Please keep your fur friends on leads. Kid friendly. From coffee to divine cocktails, scrumptious breakfast or a main meal. Well worth the visit.
We had a really great dinner here and I loved how they have included vegan meals. What would have been even better is if they couldInclude vegan and gluten free desert options, organically grown local food and if the menus could have been brought to us quicker. We did also have an issue with a person smoking who although were seated outside, we could still smell their smoke as it blew back inside on all the customers. Management tried to deal with it when we reported it but the customer was being difficult and didn’t seem to know it’s illegal to smoke at a restaurant these days. Will definitely be coming back and the staff were great, and tried there best at all times to make us and everyone happy in the restaurant. Really nice to see staff in this country who take their job seriously, including their presentation and their service.
When we arrived we found to our surprise that it is now an Asian and tapas restaurant called the Hungry Monk?! I booked off the website and no mention was made of it having changed hands, I also read several reviews about the seafood before I made the booking. In my view what is now on offer is unsuited to local palates not to mention pockets. We witnessed two walkin groups get up and leave once they had sight of the menu, and were also disturbed by noise of renovations going on.The tapas, when it eventually arrived, was beautifully presented but meager - we left hungry! Only consolation was the beautiful view.
Beautiful location, but extremely slow service. We waited till 10:00 for them to open and then for over an hour for our breakfast (the restaurantwas only about 1/4 full). When the food came they had forgotten about the eggs for the kids (we had ordered a standard breakfast for them). The adults got their eggs, but they were hard instead of soft. In the end the whole experience took us to nearly noon! Very weird.
What a pleasant surprise. I had Tapas and the spicy spinach were devine. My husband had Catch of the day and it was well presented and tasteful. Coffee mugs just too small. Lovely jazz music. Excellent waitresses.
Did not eat at this place... Too expensive for me... But I am sure that if you can afford extreamly high prices you will get good service and good food...
The manager shook his head to the waiter when he heard we only wanted a drink, even though the place was practically empty. We got stuck at a small table outside, and promptly forgot about, walked out after 15 minutes.
Friendly service in a great location.
Good service and food, great overall experience. Absolute stunning location. Super child friendly.Weskusplek has always been a hit locally and for visitors.
I just have a big problem to contact me to hear if anybody handed in my scarf that I left there. Nobody answer the phone...it is a Cape Town/ Somerset-west number???
Great food. Service still a little stop start, but great lunch
Lovely setting, but average food at high prices. Very friendly staff, but did I mention over priced??
Delightful eatery with lovely views. Very fairly priced menu, with a wide selection of wines. Fire, fine food, family - nothing more needed!
Top Class Restaurant, lovely working staff. I can visit this place over and over. 👌❤️
Terrible service. Waited more than 10min for drinks order to be taken. Waited even longer for the drinks to arrive. Only 3 of the food orders arrived, everyone finished eating before the 4th persons food arrived. Waitress never came to take drinks order again. Food was delivered to table, but no cutlery. Asked to speak to manager, still waiting for the manager. Ordered 2 Moroccan lamb shanks, the orders didnt even look the same. One was really delicious, the other one in some sort of water with rock hard potatoes. Waiter only saying, not my fault. Crazy prices for such a bad experience.
Wow, what a disappointing experience. After reading great reviews on Google, we decided to give the place a try. Heres some details on our experience:For starters, they did not have what we had ordered (bang bang prawns) and we were only informed after putting the order through. Our drinks, were disappointing as they were not able to cater what was on the menu as their barman decided not to return. Instead of advising something else to drink, they tried to make the cocktail, which came out shockingly. The mains, well that was bland. No salt or pepper even, not on the tables either. The pizza base was still raw and chewy. The mussel pot tasted exactly like the tomatoe soup... Average and nothing exciting, this even after the chef advised against the creamy mussels as his mussel pot was better. All in all, not a place I would recommend. Not even for the view.
The Weskusplek Restuarant is open again for the first time in three years and its a great spot to chill and have a drink on a walk around the bay side. Pack a card on your next morning walk and have a delicious breakfast or an early lunch. They also have a great dinner menu for evening out. Defintly worth a stop during your visit to Jacobsbay.
Lovely location and view. But when we walked in we had to stand around and wait for someone to assist us and we had no idea where to go or what to do. No one took our temperatures or bothered to sanitize us or told us that we had to sign in ourselves. We waited quite some time for someone to just take our drink/food orders. The food was also undercooked.
Wow 😳 such a lovely view, but guys ok please ensure menu is simple and breakfast can’t me messed up. The waitress was all over the show and the lack of basic skills. This wasn’t a great experience
What an incredible venue, The food was sensational... we had the Seafood platter and Seafood Paella it was exceptionally good... the food is an explosion of different flavors and tastes an Unforgettable experience... the Chef was a gentleman and the service was greatWe will definitely be back and be referring our friends ....
An absolute gem on the West Coast...Even the hake and fries are made with passion. Fresh and unbelievably tasty... with delicious organic salad (very tasty dressing)... real attention to detail... Location superb... right on the beach.. Awesome view over the little bay...
Poor service, we ordered 2 coffees and two pieces of cheese cake, it takes forever to get our order just to be informed that only one flavor is available. I finished my coffee cold and long before we received a piece of cheese cake and chocolate cake.
Very bad service, had to ask 3 times to get some service, waitress did not even know what drinks was on the menu and even that took more tham half an hour to get to us. Well, then we do not talk about the rest. Very nice venue with great view, but that is where it stops.
Very disappointing. Ordered milkshakes... No ice-cream. Ordered drinks... Not available. Ordered food.. no chips. This is not the type of experience we had in previous years. Weskusplek will not be seeing us again 😞
Found this place by chance encounter up Hoedjieskop Museum hiker who recommended this place. So glad we stopped for lunch. Fish of the day was excellent. Service good..
New owners, still need to get settle in, staff were friendly
Lovely view on any day but be sure to visit when there is little wind about as it can get pretty cold. Chilled and relaxed atmosphere but can get busy when there are visitors about the coast.
This is the first time I leave a 1 star review, but the service is the worst I have experienced at any restaurant. The slowest staff, non-caring that bring each drink (coffee and tea) 5 min apart, you have to ask for milk, another 5 min later. We ordered breakfast 10am, its an hour later and they came to ask how we want our eggs done. This reasyltaurant has such a beautiful location, so relaxing, but this is just rediculous
Great menu bit high
Awful place very expensive and food are not nice at all . Owner very disrespectful. A no go place
Beautiful place. First visit to Jacobsbaai. Restaurant receiving excellent. Only had coffee and some had milkshake. Service good but alrhough the milkshake was very nice, it was also very pricy.
Beautiful setting with much potential. Service was really bad, waited 30min just to get menus, 25min for drinks and 1h30min for our food (nothing complicated, just fish and chips). Three tables next to us complained about their food, one table even cancelled their order and walked out. So sad because this could be an awesome place. Didnt care much for the arrogant chef either. Well NOT be visiting again
Was there on Sunday with the family. Worst experience ever. Took ages to get menus, took ages to get drinks and it took ages to get our food. 9 of the 10 meals had issues and were sent back. No owner or manager on site. Disappointed.
Worst experience at Weskusplek on Good Friday - 2 April 2021.Waitress unfriendly and took down our orders incorrectly.Food sent back more than 3 times as order was incorrect .Food plated by an amateur.2 of of guests orders where forgotten after more than 1 hour of waiting . And then we cancelled the order.Worst experience ever and would not recommend for anyone to go there. The manager seemed unaware of our horrid experience and did not try and make an effort to resolve the issues.Very disappointing !!!
Under new management since we were last here. Great breakfast and very friendly service.
Great setting. Lovely place. Food good.
Good and friendly service. Amazing views and good food.
Busy with renovations...we await 7m anticipation
Breakfast was great and the owners give personal attention....
Really great food!! Will definitely be back often as possible!!
Nice relaxing spot.
I have removed my previous review as the weskusplek has recently seen a revamp and is under new management. We recently went for some drinks and seeing if its any better.Seeing we only had drinks I cannot comment on the food. But if the menu is anything to go by its rather expensive for a small weskus themed restaurant. We ordered 2 milkshakes and were VERY disappointed. Not only are their milkshakes rather expensive compared to normal restaurants but they were awful. Both milkshakes tasted like cold milk with overly sweet flavoured syrups added. The peanut butter milkshake did not even taste remotely like peanut butter. In-fact, i don’t think there was any peanut butter in it. Furthermore, the cookies and cream tasted like caramel syrup. For the price you would honestly expect decent milkshakes but even spur or wimpy’s milkshakes puts these to shame. For a place with such a nice view and so much potential it was all in all a rather large letdown.
This was the best hake Ive ever eaten. Juicy and full of flavour.
Bad service and overpriced
Jacobs Bay - A piece of Paradise. Beautiful! The restaurant is fantastic
A must see in Pater Nostet
Great service. Great food.
Arrived for lunch.... Waiter was struggling... They had no seafood!!! A seafood restaurant with no seafood? Eek... Service was very slow, sorry but not recommended at all. Rather go to Marcs beach restaurant in langebaan... Excellent!
Good food, out of stock on certain items, but service and ambience made up for it.
There are few that can compare. Magnificent location, clean and friendly. A must visit !!
What a stunning little Gem.. Lunch was awesome... very friendly watrons....a definite place to visit again.....
Slow service,Management not available to support and guide staff or help where required.Very bad service
Delicious selection of cocktails (try strawberry daiquiri or the pina colada) 🍹The food was fresh and tasty (try the spicy chicken wings, bone marrow, fried calamari, and vegetarian curry) 🙌Pricing was on-point for the location and memorable view.
Waitron lovely. Coffee really good and carrot cake and cheesecake delicious. The MOST fantastic spot for a restaurant. So glad theyre open again.
Gorgeous view, made better with an ice cold beer
Beautiful. Good menu and awesome food. Very very beautiful setting
They just opened and were very friendly
Pleasantly surprised by both service and quality of food, and the setting is quintessentially Jacobsbaai. Definitely worth a meal and even a cocktail at ANY time of the day. Dankie!
What a great experience at Weskusplek! There is a new chef that makes really awesome food (interesting and tasty) and the place is under new management. Service was also outstanding! We liked it so much we returned the next morning with the family. We have been there a couple of times in recent years when the food was just ok and service not great but this week has by far been the best eating experience in the westcoast. Well done guys! Keep up the good work. (Do try the tappas and seafood pizza!!)
Very fancy, but with a fancy price... yes, its one of those places where you would pay R70+ for a milkshake
Fantastic view and ambiance, but putting ice cubes in a coke float?
Great service, lovely fresh ingredients making amazing food, great view - highly recommended.
Worst service. Waited 45min for drinks, after following up 3 times left without recieving anything.
After waiting an extended period of time before being greeted, we were taken aback by the hiked prices. We ordered our drinks and were in for another extended wait. The view is worth the one star.
Who ever thought it was a great idea to associate with Steve Hofmeyr!?
Food excellent. Service very good.
Friendly staff. Lovely family restaurant. Great menu.
Beautiful place, loved the food.
Good service, great food
This is for sure my happy place this holiday! Thank you for being the silver lining on a dark cloud!!
I dont even want tp give 1 star, because, theres zero service. We left, after we waited for half an hour, without a single waiter/tress coming to our table. And, worse of all, the restaurant was quite, with only 5 tables occupied.
Very expensive but nice restaurantLovely view and great service
Views is very calming. And the food were extremely excellent 👌
What a delight to find a well a great chef.Catch of the day with greens combined with a twist of sea asparagus is a winner.
Beautiful view and best carrot cake.
Thoroughly enjoyed the view, the service and the food
