The location of the restaurant is very romantic. The dishes were tastefully presented. The Rumpsteak was magnificent. The Fillet Shack super soft and very tastety. The atmosfeer is warm and cosy with fires burning on a rainy misty night.

Tumble Downs is one of those really special restaurants in the area. Nestled in the farmland along the Currys Post Road you will be warmly welcomed into a beautiful and warm dining area. The menu is quite extensive and the food and plating is outstanding. The wine list is also excellent. Then to add to our overall experience we loved 2 gorgeous fireplaces topping off our enjoyable day in the countryside. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch here on Wednesday. The food was outstanding and so well presented. We all had something different, fillet stack, pulled lamb, Vietnamese curry and prawn and chicken curry. The flavors were a taste bud explosion. Our waiter Joe was so pleasant and attentive. The ambiance is very peaceful and relaxing. The whole event was started by such an inviting greeting from Michelle on the phone when we made the booking and by Werner on arrival . My birthday dessert surprise just finished off a memorable experience with good friends. Thank you. We will be back.

Got to this place after a long drive but we were turned away before we even said a word. My parents had just recovered from severe illness and we just wanted to get them out of the house. Apparently the place was fully booked. Although seats were clearly available. How did the guy who bluntly told us that, know that we didnt indeed make a booking ourselves? Because he didnt even ask? Makes me think that it was just my face. Dont worry sir. I wont be back.

Not much words can be used to describe this place. Flawless and fantastic. Really really good meals and great vibe. Have to go here again when im in midlands. Went with a family of 7 all of us enjoyed it without a single complaint. Possibly the best dining experience i have had at midlands.

We have been visiting the Midlands for accommodation and food off course for many years and overall this restaurant wins hands down for me. It was my first time eating here and every single dish was Fresh flavoursome and well presented. Fast service and friendly staff too. We were thoroughly impressed. We had supper and it was very cosy at night. I don’t know what the surrounding looks like during the day but I’m hoping to visit again soon as I’ve read reviews about the beautiful views!

I gave this charming restaurant a full house because they are so consistent and dependable. I have visited plenty of times over many years and the food is always exciting, varied, hearty and delicious. Perched in the hills, their deck lets you take in the expansive views and enjoy the fresh midlands air. The staff are friendly and attentive and do their work with wide smiles. Werner never takes his finger off the pulse! We’ll be back sooner rather than later!

Great rural location with wide views. Distancing no problem with the large dining hall and especially the verandah when suitable. Very obliging and fast service. Been a few times during shutdown and have settled on my favourite (sweet/sour lamb) but have never been disappointed with other items on menu. One of very few places I dare to recommend.

Today we had the most disappointing reception by non other than the owner of Tumble Down Restuarant.1. He was not wraring his mask over his nose2. He was not observing Covid protocol.3. He was unfriendly and totally rude.4. We were motioned to our seats by....o your table is there up on the deck. Being our first visit there we were not familiar with the place we wondered where?5. My son Dr Neil Moodley and my husband folliwed him.inside and challenged his bad attitude towards us. He very unremosely retorted that he was busy and having a bad day.6. We gave him the benefit of the.doubt and stayed to have lunch. However this reception left a bad taste already and we needless to say did not enjoy our lunch which took 1 hour.The question asked is ...Is this the reception because we were the only non whites at this restuarant.Is this the reception that one deserves because of yhe colour of your skin.We are dignified professional people that wanted a nice ace to dine and lap up the beautiful scenery BUT ALAS the opposite occurred by the owner himself.What a shame as he.forgets that a bad experience is shared far greater than a.good experience.MR owner my caution to you is to change your attitude as people and busunneses like yours need.people like us to survive.BAD EXPERIENCE

Fabulous Restaurant, wonderful service, superior cuisine and a very good day out. In winter the Chefs Soup of the Day, is for a soup lover, always an incredible blend of flavours and never ordinary. Generally you cannot go wrong with any of the specials, or even the standard menu. Highly recommended as the place to go for a good lunch, if you live in Durban, as driving back at night is a little difficult these days.

I can recommend the Artist Cafe Chicken, very good.. Food was good and service was adequate - a little slow but the waiter was excellent.. Little bit expensive, but portion sizes are decent. The venue itself is very picturesque and is not too far out of town. Definitely worth a visit, and probably better than most other offerings in the Midlands area. I should also note that the milkshakes are nothing to really write home about - they dont put enough sauce in them!! Pleasant experience though.

I enjoyed a nice lunch on the peaceful, sunny front patio of Tumble Downs. The view is so stunning, I always recommend eating outside versus the inside. The owner happened to be on-site and he was very friendly (and so was our waiter). The menu has a decent variety but I ended up opting for the special soup and special main of the day. The kabeljou (fish) was just okay (Im not a fish person) and I really enjoyed the sweet potato and pear soup and the chocolate fondant dessert. Next time I would definitely order the beef steak. Keep your eye out for the free roaming pig on the property...it likes to have its belly scratched :)

I had the filet with avocado. It was the best steak Ive ever had.If Id live here, Id go regularly to this restaurant, but so it will be a delicious holiday remembrance for the rest of my life.
