We were disappointed with the service we received yesterday. We were a party of 14 which is a large group, however we did book for 11 wine tastings. We were there celebrating my nieces birthday and we were looking forward to a delightful wine tasting experience. The decor is great. The art amazing. The setting is breathtaking. Our waitron showed little interest in our table. Those of us who were driving, ordered soft drinks and they were brought to the table in a reasonable time period, but after nearly half an hour we had to go and find him to take the eleven wine tasting orders. We had already explained that 9 of us wanted the basic wine tasting option as we were dining later that evening. One of our party wanted a cheese pairing and another a chocolate one.Not once did the waitron mention that all the tastings had to be the same.So only one person had the cheese pairing and the rest had the 5 wine option. After all that, we found out that the wines for the cheeses were exactly the same as the other wines. He explained the first two pairings with her and then forgot about her.Twice two of our party got up to order more drinks. The same waitron eventually returned and rudely stated that any orders needed to go through him.My sister contacted the manager and explained our experience. She sent a really generic response excusing the Watsons bad ethics and said he was in charge of others who needed his help. We have had many experiences at high end establishments- the prices at Benguela suggest this too, yet this staff member was rude and arrogant. There was no floor manager walking around and checking the tables to see if we were happy. To top it all, if it hadnt been for the fact that my niece would have been mortified if I had lodged a complaint there and then in front of her guests, we were forced to pay a 12% surcharge that is automatically added to the bill. For the first time , I was reluctant to pay this as he honestly did not deserve it. If he is indeed in charge, he is hardly a role model for those learning from example.

Benguela offers a stunning view with full bodied wines and scrumptious tastings, and the friendliest staff! Perfect for a quick lunch stop or to spend the whole day lawing on the grass sipping on some wine.We appreciated their cheese and wine pairing on the grass

Excellent place to spend an afternoon wine tasting or enjoying good platters. As we entered, we were greeted with a complimentary taster and made our way to the tasting room which is comfortable with couches, a fireplace and very cool art.I can only compliment Simba, our tasting assistant, who was so knowledgeable and passionate about the wine. I do hope the wine farm gives this guy an opportunity to learn to become a winemaker.

So. This is a tricky one to rate. I saw previous reviews of service.... however, this estate has a lot to offer.Art, real estate, wine tasting and restaurant. Oooh, and there are tours available, and a launch dock and a private running trail. So whilst I was there, my partner and I were treated to a fantastic wine tasting experience with some snacks. Great wines, great view, and our waitress delivered a world class service.

Upon arriving at the estate, your eyes will feast upon the endless views of the lagoon situated next to Benguela Cove. This estate offers a variety of activities, tours and experiences for the entire family. The recently opened Pirate Golf caters to all ages and ensures the inner pirate is brought out in every game. The tasting area serves up a gorgeous view over the lagoon as well as some delicate art, whilst you sip away on the delicious wine.If the weather does play along on your day of visiting, you can treat yourself for a little cruise to the beach and enjoy a glass of wine with your partner or friends.

We popped in unplanned- wanted to see what was going on. A beautiful and luxurious setting- did wine and chocolate tasting - we had friendly service . Second time at Benguela splash park with the family. Great, fun, safe and clean place for the kids to enjoy themselves. Nice to see some improvement with new benches and big red cushions to relax on. Maybe more shade would be nice and more dustbins to throw things away, especially when the wind is blowing. Burgers & chips was good. R32 for a soft drink is a bit expensive. Thanks guys.

I came to Benguela Cove on Saturday for the first time. There were six of us in our party of which two were children. On arrival I was very impressed with the location, however the experience thereafter was far from enjoyable. On arrival there was no one to meet and or direct you to the various facilities. As a result we turned right to the Wine Tasting area and after finally getting the attention of a staff member, we requested a table (there were many available) and informed him that the adults would like to do some wine tasting whilst the two children would like some lunch. At this we were told we could not get the children food there and would have to sit out in the Restaurant. In the Restaurant we were then informed that although the children could get food, we would not be able to do the wine tasting, as for that, we would have to go back to the tasting area. Not being willing to leave the children alone we decided that as we were there, we would first do some wine tasting (in the tasting area) and then go and get the children a snack. On returning to the wine tasting area, we found a table and informed the staff member that we would like to do the tasting as they would not assist with the food requirement. His reply was Ï will see if I can make a plan”?? We then waited for about 15 minutes with no assistance (or Wine Tasting) and finally gave up on Benguela Cove.I hope this revue will help you train your staff to a level where visitors are not made to feel as if the staff are doing you a favour.Yours AyeRoland Shortt

I went out for a wine tasting experience and got a whole more from the outing. The best surprise was that they have the Benguela Art Gallery there too and I got to just get absorbed in the beautiful art sculptures by Anton Smit. Needless to say , l ended up spending a good two and half hours there. They offer a great wine tasting experience, cellar tour and there is an in house restaurant too. This one deserves a second visit cause I only got a feel of the front desk and would love to do a tour of the fields next time. Ohh and they have great tasting gin to 😜

Because there is no option for zero stars. THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD POISONING ON NYE! My husband and I were both violently ill and still recovering 3 days after brunch at your establishment. We shared our meals, after I ate only half of mine because the mushroom sauce was too rich. He had some strange baked egg dish. What type of operation are you running? Requesting a deposit of R100 per person upon booking, its unheard-of! Basically asking people to pay for their meals upfront, but you cant guarantee not giving your them food poisoning! This should just never happen. There is something very seriously wrong going on in your kitchen.

The website pictures are accurate. Kudos to the marketing department of Beguela Cove. Their marketing promise got me there. If youre looking for authenticity though, consider yourself duped. The grass is fake and so is the hospitality. This is the equivalent of a duty free store at the airport. Its designed for you to buy stuff, not experience stuff! The attention span of staff dwindles rapidly after youve first made eye contact with them. You might hold it for longer if you flash a few dollars before them. To be fair though, I didnt try. After realising that I was essentially in a department store in the middle of a wine estate, I decided to pack my bags and look for a real wine farm instead.

A game of 2 halves. We took the kids to play crazy golf and visit the splash park. We were greated nicely, the place looks great and we took out a family membership. The golf was great fun and afterwards we were hungry. This is where it all went wrong. Hotdogs, a Vienna in a bun, R65. Individual bottles of water, R35. My burger was served on the tray, no basket, napkin or plate but directly on the plastic tray.I appreciate the wine farms need to make up some revenue however I found these prices to be unreasonable.

We went for a brunch on Easter Sunday, as no breakfast is served on a Sunday. Brunch is served from 10-12am. We were the first guest there. From walking in at Moody Lagoon the vibe was not great. Our waiter defentely was not relaxed. In our group of 5 people one person was a Vegan and one gluten sensitive. The menu specifically stated catering for any food allergies. Asking for a Vegan and gluten free option, nothing was available. No juices, fruit or almond milk. Our Vegan guest could only eat toast and jam!The over all menu not great, over priced very disappointing and will not return or recommend.

We book for 6 at the restaurant but on arrival they did not know of us but we was help friendly. We was seated outside on our request. Great venue and nice relax atmosphere. Love the space around the tables and that i do not have to listen to somebody else conversation. The wine was good but a bit pricey for what you get. (Only wine and soft drinks available.)The waiter gives u 2 menus to order from?? Every time we need him we have to look for him and call him. We ask about the cheese and meat platters and the waiters could not tel us what was on it so we deside to skip it.The starters we order was tasty but the main was bad.We order sirloin medium to rare and it was well done. My friend order rare and it was medium to well. The meat was to thin cut and rubbery texture. Relay not what I expected. The fish that some had was average and not what we expected from a fine restaurant.Over all, I was very disappointing because the greater Hermanus have very good Estates, restaurants with great food and nice views that offer better value.
