Warm friendly service. The aroma of freshly baked bread greeted us as we walked in. As its winter and cold the fire was going and made it all more warm and cozy. Nice display of all their preserves, freshly baked goods - on the premises- pies, tarts, toffee apples. The new kids area are safe and in direct view of parents so kids can get rid off build up energy.Worth while stop on the Garden Route.
Toasted bacon, egg & cheese on home made farm bread...the old fashioned way..what a treat. Def be back and the lemon meringue is delicious. Dont bypass this place..hopefully for a cappuccino too next time..
Amazing hearty food, selection of jams and preserves and yummy biscuits and nice coffee. Kind staff. Highly recommended !!
Nice sauces. Friendly staff. Prices are so good!!! Wil visit regularly because everything is so cool and nice!!!
Love this place. Fresh food, great service and the brownies are divine!
Great seating for a nice lunch while on the road.
Extremely friendly staff.
Nice to see it open again
Worst cuppachino I have even been served at a road side stop and price also very high.
Ridiculously expensive. Walked out without ordering. .
The Blue Crane is under new management and is currently being renovated. It should re-open early in February 2021
Love this place. Im an American and love their meat pies. Simple quaint place with simple great food and lovely people. Its our stopover for refreshments when we travel between Cape Town and George. Good pricing, too. Get off the highway and relax a few minutes.
Blue Crane is to be highly recommended. Good food and good friendly service. We will definitely pop down in again.
Great place to stop over when traveling. The service is good. Seating available outside. Umbrellas available for some shade. Sufficient parking is available. Choice on the menu is average.
We read about the delays in service and needed to keep on our journey so we just bought lovely food to go. Incredible quality, farm fresh bread, home made quiches, and my Afrikaans husband saying it was the best mutton pie ever. Staff was very helpful in getting our food ready for the road. The kids play area however is in need of some repair. The see saw was dangerous and even my 6 year old said, This is going to hurt me. Otherwise, its a fantastic stop right off the N2.
We stop over at least once a month and it is always a pleasant experience. In summer we sit under the trees and enjoy the beautiful garden and winter we sit around the fireplace, enjoying a well prepared and presented meal, made with love. Our dogs are always welcomed with a bowl of cold clean water.
Very friendly and well-situated roadside farmstall/restaurant with excellent service and delicious food (we stopped in for breakfast). One or two more flies than desirable while sitting outside! Nevertheless a highly recommended experience on the N2 - the staff have worked hard on making this a special place.
Flowery haven off N2. Colourful, homely, 2 cats to befriend you. Restaurant with simple food, friendly service. Pretty garden with small playground. Quite extensive shop with farm produce. Having stopped there on our way out, we stopped there again on the way back.
Appalling Customer Service. My 2 year old daughter tried to pull an item of clothing for sale in the cafe there after wed eaten lunch. The entire structure collapsed on top of her and a glass tray smashed on the floor. It was a miracle she was unhurt, but it was a serious health & safety hazard and close to a serious accident. The owner immediately lost his temper and launched into a barrage of criticism about our behaviour, stating he would normally let customers off accidents like this, but he had been watching us and would make us pay for the damage. He later calmed down and didnt follow through with this, but I was shocked at this outburst and his lack of concern over my daughter who could have been seriously hurt. Our 3 children of 8, 5 and 2 were very upset by the owners reaction and they left the cafe in tears.Prior to this when I got the bill for lunch it was a single figure written on a piece of paper. When I asked for a breakdown I was looked at strangely as if this was an unreasonable request. The lady serving me didnt seem able to put the figures together!I can honestly say I have never experienced such a poor level of customer service in all my life. There are plenty of other places to stop for food on this stretch of the N2!
Lovely desserts and delicious coffee! Cozy and quaint! A fantastic stop en-route to holiday destinations.
Dear Pippa and staff at The Blue Crane,Once again we were treated to a hearty welcome as as stopped at our favourite restaurant in Heidelberg en route to The Garden Route. We were served with fresh bread and fluffy scrambled eggs, fried eggs also perfectly done and hot coffee. What a delight to have the opportunity right on our doorstep of such homely fare and friendly, efficient service, as always !Blessings and SHALOM !Brian and Anne Nelson
This has always been our stop over en route to Plett. Its always had delicious breads, pies, sweet stuff. However yesterday when we stopped there the shelves were empty, the food was not up to its usual standard. Very sad. The waitress recognized us and told us it had been sold. On our way out I spotted a small a4 page attached to a tree saying they are doing renovations. I hope they will flourish again one day but at the moment we will not be back.... Maybe they should have closed until renovations were completed....
Awesome pies. Best lemon meringue ever. Luckily I ate mine while there, so I could get another one for take away.
I ordered a Frape which was iced water with half a thought of a teaspoon of coffee..charged R35 which for the quality was really over priced. The place needs a overall makeover to make it acceptable and on par with the prices they charge.
We enjoyed stopping there for a burger, the best burgers in town
Immaculate loos and the best toasted cheese sandwich Ive enjoyed in years. If youre coming from CT...its your last chance for somewhere decent till knysna.
It is a very nice place and they have quality items and children will love it
Very disappointed. No service. When we cancelled our order ( die to the kitchen being out of stock ) waiter had a attitude. Place need a manager that is there at all times. Very disappointed, wanted to stop there for years.
Just popped in to look around and ended up with a new friend😀. Pip, your place and staff are awesome! Thank you for you warm, friendly hospitality...I am looking forward to my next road trip - just so I can pop in and have coffee with you again!!
Bought apricots in witblitz from them. When we opened the bottle it was normal preserve and nothing like stated on the bottle. What a rip off. They know you will be long gone before opening the bottle so they catch the unsuspecting tourist. Very bad tase. Will never stop there again.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. Food was good and we made friends with a ginger cat.😀
No service , went inside in to find nobody. Had to wait until someone showed up eventually. Most ingredients, no steak, avo or chicken for sandwiches. Ordered two times, each time the waiter came back and told us that the option is not available. Avoid this place.
Great little stop! Friendly staff and nice sandwiches. Also a friendly cat =]
Very good breakfast. Friendly and quick service
It was nice enough, but clearly has gone through a change of ownership since its rave reviews from previously. I would probably not go back and would probably visit Delish on the next visit
Driven past here so many times, stopped today - lovely chat with the owner, very friendly. Bought some cherry dates - yum! Owner kindly gave us a loaf of bread on the house as we were leaving.
Terrible food, terrible terrible service. Bread was stale. Bathrooms were unhygienic & a mess. Stay away
Always good for a short stop during along car drive. Fresh made food, nice sitting area outside.
Fabulous deli, lovley coffee and eats accompanied by great service, amd best blue cheese burger! Definitely worth the stop!
Freshly baked bread and mayo, wonderful coffee. Amazing service
A good break , nice food
This place is Flippen Awhsome .... Fantastic freshly prepaired food....and the friendly staff are the best ever.... Will always go back there when on N2 from Mosselbay to Stellenbosch
How Sad... R360 per kilo for bilton from a farm store. That R100 more than pick n pay. R65 for a pie ??? thats the same size as the local shell. Shells pie a R19. Shocking Rip off. NEVER WILL STOP HER AGAIN !!
Fresh home bread and staff very friendly
Good to break your journey and enjoy homemade tasty meal
Thursday 11:21 am. Closed sign??? Noone answering the phone.
The food was a bit dull. My toasted cheese wasnt salted at all. There was a puddle under my table that made my feet wet, which was unpleasant. I was also sad to see they removed the display of creepy dolls they had going on! All in all, not a bad place to stop if you need a break on your road trip.
Perfect place for a stop over. Delicious burgers, banting meals available, home made produce, fascinating collection of miniature perfume bottles on display.
Our best place ever. Food deliciously homemade and staff super friendly.
Great stop off if youre driving between the Cape and Knysna. Good breakfast.
AMAZING! The food is delicious, they have fast internet and a lovely playground for kids! The bathrooms are also very clean
A great midway stop from Knysna to CT.
Pet-Friendly stop on the Garden Route. Will certainly visit again.
Good food. Pretty views.

Quaint road side stall with tintelating home made condiments..
Great stop between Cape Town and Plett. Great coffe and scones.
Lovely cup of coffee and nice milk tart.
Food and service is good but food portions can be bigger.
Lovely place, I will go back again anytime.
A good stop over on the way to the Garden Route for a light meal
Clean. Good place to take a break. Easily accessable from the road.
Good place to stop by and grab some coffee.
Great service and good coffee, just what you need on a long journey.
Probably the best place for food off the N2.. Absolutely must try the blue cheese burger and the hevenly scones with fresh whipped butter...
The food is nice, it just take them forever to bring it to your table.
Very friendly - lovely coffee and delicious scone
A lovely little spot and I had such a yummy babotie pie

Known for homemade pies with brown sauce For many years we always went there for light lunch .....pies not up to standard at moment.
Homely, friendly and good food.
Pleasant and a good cup of coffee
Friendly and relaxing
A must stop good pies
Well, the shop is closed... At 16h25... Google states it closes at 17h00. Which one is wrong?
Bad experience...tea cup not clean, water brown ..not clear.
