Aircorn not working, not clean. Breakfast was nice. Definitely not going back. Shower has a dam of dirty water water that doesnt drain. linen looks very old. There was no where to pack my stuff, I had to keep them on my bag for days. Customer service is poor. I travel weekly but this was too bad.

For the price and the fact that it has a 3 star rating, the place could use some TLC and also proper cleaning. The general standard of cleanliness is not good. Floors were dirty and sticky, we found other peoples hair in the bed, and the sheets were not clean.The shower heads are so gunked up with limescale that they dont even work properly.Will not recommend.

Clean, and great size chalet for our family of 5. Needs some up-keep e.g. towels very old and tatty. Was nice to have indoor fire/ braai spot.

We stayed here for 7 days with my family, room was big enough but was not equipped for a long term stay. Ideal with a 1 or 2 night stop over. Cleaning service was not great although provided daily, we had to ask for specific areas to be cleaned. Hope proper COVID sanitation is being done. Pool was green upon arrival but was blue by the time we left, staff do share the pool with the guests. Wasnt a problem but just to be aware of this.

It was not as clean as the first time we stayed there.

They switche the aircons off between 12 and 4 in the mornings which was not nice considering the amount you pay for the room and the unbearable heat. But overall a neat and beautiful place.

Super clean, comfortable beds, and the host was incredible.The host made us feel so welcome, she treated us as royalty.When u visit ask the host to make u a omelet for breakfat, its the best we ever tasted.This was really home away from home. The room had AC and fans, during our stay it got cold during the night but one could just hit the power button of the AC, and boom there u go with a nice and cosy hot room.I would recommend this stay to anyone, plus she had parking for all our vehicles.On top of all she provided us with free wif.We even called her up late at night as we needed more wood, cause we were sitting at a fire in one of the rooms. She came, gave us a few bags of wood, some mixers and ice, as the shops were closed already, she is really a brilliant host.

Peaceful guesthouse on the river bank, friendly owner and staff

This is the worst guest house I encountered ever. When I entered my room I noticed that the shower looked like that used at camping sites, seemed like it was used just before I got there. I could see the soap colour the previous guests used! No Hygiene! But the worst was yet to come. They have lizards sharing a room with you and they refuse to remove them! I noticed a reptile, a leguan(likkewaan) about 30cm long and 10cm thick in my room. Scared like hell , I jumped up from my bed and nearly broke my laptop and ran to the reception.I told the owner of the reptile in my room and asked that they please come and remove it. I was told by the lady that answered (in her night gown!) that she will send in her dogs to come catch it. But how does the dog get to the ceiling I ask, the reptile moved from the window to under the bamboo that is attached to the ceiling? How do you send in your dogs to a guests room? What will the room look like afterwards? I was told the reptile is not posionous and will not bite me . Like Hell it wont , cause there is no way I am staying in a room with a reptile. When I asked about alternative room or arrange a room at another guest house I was told in no uncertain terms NO and noticed from her attitude and responses that she has no regard for people of colour. I accepted my fate, no use fighting this battle with with these people and immediately vacated the room and establishment at about 11pm.This was the worst service I ever expereinced! Dont dont deserve one star whatsoever!

A nice tranquil guesthouse on the banks of the Sundays river. An oasis with loads of water and water falls welcoming you in Graaff- Reinets sweltering heat.

Breakfast was not organized as per our request,but eventually when served was good.

Booking made by a very friendly young lady for 20 - 22 April 2016. That evening we found that there was no hot water in our room. When I phoned the owner for a second time he asked whether I expected him to come and pee hot water for us. (Translated literally from Afrikaans.) We left the next morning and the owner, the gentleman who pees hot water, was kind enough to refund us for the remaining two nights. Fortunately we found another guest house which restored my faith in Graaff-Reinet hospitality.

Family accommadation never had a basin or tap for washing dishes in it. No kitchen to speak of, fridge and microwave only. Room was clean. Nice linen and beds comfortable.

Amazing hospitality, all with smiles and jokes, meals too much to eat, big fires on the cold nights, and birdsong in the morning across the river. Hallelujah this was great!

The best stay I have ever had at a guest house. Everything from friendly staff, secure parking, top quality quarters and dining, facilities (braai, pool, lapa, wifi etc...). I can highly recommend a stay at Aan Die Oever! Be sure to share a night cap with the owner, his hunting stories will last until the early hours of the morning!

Friendly hospitable reception, lovely 2-bedroom apartment with beautiful vistas on Graaff-Reinette heads. Clean, neat, comfortable beds, lovely shower, nice big soft white towels.Highly recommended, great price and even discount for our 15 year old.Not really self-catering, without fridge, basin or even microwave. In our case, we did not need it anyway.
