This is a very unique and impressive landmark that can be seen from many kilometers around. Its part of the Donkin Reserve site and definitely worth a visit. Its very interesting to see how they raise or lower this giant South African Flag as well.

The flagpole is kinda impressive because it is so long, when I looked at the bottom of it for the first time I thought it was short but when I looked up I was shocked, the place around it aint a bad place at all, you get to see the nice view of the city and the ocean and it is a good place to take pictures and there is park where you can relax.

Firstly this is a huge flag and really a giant flagpole too. Situated within the Donkin Reserve it is a celebration to Mr Nelson Mandela and is the starting/ finishing point of the 67 stairs which are also in honour of Mr Nelson Mandela. One can enjoy panoramic views from the Northern End right across the bay and harbour, all the way to Summerstand.

The flag was not flying on the day that I visited the Donkin Lighthouse, but the pole is impressive.
