An interesting place, construction started 1920 and by 1931 it was established as an international airport.If you are a novice to aviation the Harvard Cafe is where you can sit outdoors and enjoy watching aircraft arriving, departing and parking at the apron while consuming a meal or a drink.If you want to become a pilot or improve your piloting skills there are a number of flight schools that you can use to do so.There are many businesses all around the airport concerning aviation like: aircraft spares, aircraft refurbishment, helicopter maintenance repairs chartering, pilot gear like maps and charts, aircraft spray painting, hangars for parking aircraft, aircraft sales.

One of my all time favourite airports... FAGM. Whether you’re learning to fly, or wanting to relax a little at Harvard Cafe. Rand Airport is any Aeroplane Lover’s dream.In terms of flying, the airport is busy at times. But not having any airliners operating from the airport, gives new pilots a good range of skills to learn with relatively low waiting times.Runways are always in exceptional condition and facilities work well all the time.Friendly airport personnel and the Control Tower personnel are doing a great job.

Very nice weather to fly. Taken my son who is training to be a pilot! I recommend Sunquest Aviation. They have qualified instructors (Chipo, Moderchai, etc). Very professional!

The food was great at the restaurant, waiter was friendly but everything seem to take extra time to come. From milkshakes to burger, pizza, wrap.Another table complained that sushi had taken about an hour and a half.There is also a very large smoking area, with only the tables closest to the runway as non smoking. Doesnt really mean that youll have a smoke free meal.The aeroplanes taking off and landing was a real treat

Lunch at Havard, great, food & Service very good

We had a lovely evening, our sever Felix was attentive but didnt hover.Everything was perfectly timed and when the weather changed we were quickly accommodated by being moved indoors... Starters and mains were wonderful, and the small touches and attention to detail really made it an enjoyable evening.

For aviation enthusiasts, theres an aviation museum, flight schools, pilots shops etc

The Harvard Cafe at Rand Airport has very good daily specials and a very reasonably priced menu. The food is good, caters for children and has a good atmosphere. A great Sunday lunch venue.

Went to Havard for my wifes birthday ordered a seafood platter. After lockdown one would think that theyll make sure that customers are being served the best freshest food. Every thing on that platter was bland! The mussels stuck to the shell. Definitely pre lockdown stock! Cheese sauce had no taste. The freshest thing on that plate was the piece of lemon! Come on guys we all suffered through Covid UP YOUR GAME!!!

The music was brilliant... Sadly we had a very sad waiter at The Harvard.... Pity because I think those that are employed at this time should be grateful... Really cant stand bad service and then having to pay for it afterwards leaves me puzzled.

Rand Airport is an airport in Germiston, South Africa. It was constructed in the 1920s as the main airport for Johannesburg, but the city outgrew it and replaced the airport with Palmietfontein Airport in the late 1940s.

Small airport compared to the international airports in South Africa. Mostly training happening from the airport (fixed wing and helicopter) . Highly recommend the Harvard restaurant pizza at the airport.

Unless you are about to take a flight, a visit to Rand Airport by a member of the public would most likely comprise a meal at the Harvard Café which is the only restaurant on the airport. Their outdoor seating gives an excellent view of the airport from ground level. If you are looking for a quick meal there is also the Fly-In Café which specializes in fast foods and take-aways. For the aviation enthusiasts there are various flight schools, pilot shops and aircraft maintenance organizations to choose from. There are no ATMs available on the airport grounds.

It was pure bliss...I loved everything there, and the ambiance was proper for a Friday.

Had a horrible experience with one of the Managers...Raymond...he actually slapped my cell phone out of my hand when I tried to take a photo of him not wearing his mask....in result damaging my phone...this after another complain of safety..

The Rand Airport is a complex with a number of specialed businesses. The Harvard Restaurant have a great atmosphere, live music, secure parking in the perimeter and the food is good. Next to the landing strip which lends a great atmosphere. It is also listed on its own. Well behaved clientele. At times there are air shows by Harvards and Pitt Specials etc.

They need to reconsider their booking process. Spoke to Barry the Manager who just refused to accept constructive criticism. I was sent documents on email of which I could not print.My message virus alert. I was then asked to go to the website to print it, after being told I was the only one who complained, and was not provided with website details. Then further told that I should not have emailed my concerns I should have called. The manager Barry was rather rude and not all service orientated. Very poor listening skills indeed. You need to listen to customers at times Mr Barry. If you have been running the business for more than 25 years then you need to take into consideration alot has changed since then. I loved visiting this museum. Really disappointed in their attitude. We deal with children you need to be a little more accommodating.
