Clean, well supported and formula driven. However there were long queues with one staff working while others had gone on lunch at busiest time just before 2 pm movies start.

Nice cinema. Good selection of films on show. Unfortunately the ticket machines were all off line but thankfully the staff were quick to assist us. No long queues to worry about. An Imax would really finish off this venue, especially as its the only cinema between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. ☺

Was super disappointed.Our cherry Slush Puppies were definitely NOT cherry...We took it back explaining that the flavour tasted more like strawberry than cherry, but the lady insisted that it was cherry... Maybe Ster Kinekor Garden Routes cherry flavour tastes different than the rest of the Ster Kinekors in SA.The popcorn salt was also full of clots and hard, so it was a little tricky to throw it over the popcorn.

Completely under staffed, the lack of staff causes the cue and venue to get over populated making it difficult for people to social distance. We even saw movie goers attending the entrance to take tempratures and sanitize people coming in, would not reccomend this place during the holiday.We came in 20min before our movie started, and entered 30min late, that is how long you wait fmin cue.

Clean and neat cinema with friendly staff, outside of season operations run smoothly. Peak times during holidays (and when major movies are showing) the operations could be optimized to prevent movie-goers from having to stand in queues that stretch to the outside of the cinema. We waited about 40 minutes to collect our popcorn and then waited in a line again to have our tickets scanned and acquire admission to the cinema.

Ster Kinekor has proven to be an enjoyable experience. The place is generally well kept, though peak hours (and big movie days) can be quite a squeeze. I find the card machines are often faulty here so I would recommend ordering your ticket online before you arrive. Being one of the only places to watch a movie in the area, nothing beats it.

The place looks gorgeous, but we waited in line for half an hour. The line was very long and there were only 2 people working there. On a Tuesday, when its half price, you should expect to have lots of guests, but the cinema wasnt prepared at all. Some people were even late for their movies even though they got there early. Such a beautiful cinema but unfortunely the lines ruined the experience.

The cinema is good but lacks staffing... Drinks and popcorn fresh! Sound quality is ok. They tend to compensate for sound quality by turning up the volume which in my opinion makes things worse... Overall a great time!

Me and a few friends went to watch The Lion King on the 23rd, we payed and went it the theatre(4).When the movie started it was as of the left set of speakers didnt work, the volume over all was also very soft. Within the movie 5 different people went to report the sound, but they did nothing. I would definitely not recommend this theatre.

This movie theater looks great and it was so clean and the service was fast and good. The quality of the theaters themselves are great. The staff actually care about your experience as they even came and had a look if tge blue lights at the stairs werent going to bother us. Overall I had a great time there.

Watched Lion King and were really disappointed. The volume were so soft that you could almost hear the person behind you breathing. Went out three times to ask that they can turn up the volume; just to return with no improvement...

Badly organised. Large queues at 9.00am both for cash and machine. For the first 10 minutes we were in cash queue only one cashier. Plenty of staff just milling around. Finally Manager gets another cashier on. When we pay we are then told we have to go and wait in another queue to collect 3D glasses! !!! Why cant they just have the glasses at the cashier station to hand out when you pay for your tickets. Ridiculous! !!

Hi there, i went to visit the cinema today, after seeing Knuckle City on sabc3 morning expresso show that the movie is already at cinemas, very disappointed with the coment or rather the response of the staff saying that black people do not visit the cinema, that is why the movie isnt here in George. Can i request the movie please, as black people we do watch movies as well.

A great movie cinema that keeps up to date with new movies. Get there early to book a ticket on peak times (usually weekends) and make sure you buy your refreshments 30 min before the listed time as the queue does take a bit of time!

UPDATE: Never Sign Up For Fan Club! Cancelled Months Ago, Unauthorized Debit From Our AccountSo we signed up for fan club last year and shortly there after we decided to cancel. You can read the original review read below. For months the cancellation stood just fine. Now in December they decided to start debiting our account again. We contacted ster-kinekor and they responded with a bank account indemnity form which we sent back at the same day. More than a week later and no payment to our account nor any response from them. We sent a second mail earlier this week and they havent even bothered to respond to that mail.Although the amount is not much, we are however curious as to how many other people this has happened toOriginal Review:So we decided to take the kids for their first movie and honestly if it was our first time to the theatre and we had no fond childhood memories we would have simply decided to spend our money elsewhere. The movie was brilliant but our experience with the staff was nothing short of disappointment personified. Three members behind the till had no idea regarding movie club options. They tried to sell us a package that doesnt even exist. We politely joined online and bought our tickets.Though dissapointed we were happy to let that slide but returned to collect our tickets and order some refreshments. I recieved the slip and went off to collect without scrutinizing the slip but to our dismay when we were handed two tubs of popcorn and asked where the rest was we were told that was the only thing we ordered according to the slip. It cost us having to go back and face the long teller q to correct it and then back to the dispensary q for a second time to collect our refreshments all the while having to endure qs that move at a snails pace .We will not be going back and will in all likelihood cancel our fan club subscription. It is appalling to see how untrained the staff are at ster kinekor in George. The level of incompetence and lack of interest displayed warrants more than one or two unsavory words of disdain.

The pay stations allow you to complete your purchase including popcorn and coke... you pay the total bill only to be standing in the collections que for an hour.... my kids are sitting in the movie waiting for me to get the drinks and popcorn. Ive been in the que for more than 20 min and theres still approx 45 people in front of me..... i litterly did a head count.... never again...

Extremely low lit screen makes viewing extremely irritating. people had to constantly walk out to request from management that the sound is way to low. all this while watching a movie a looked forward to watching for a long time. When staff come into the theaters, they use torches on their phones shining up at your face. the L.E.Ds are so bright on the steps that i can barely focus on the screen, the screens also show lots of wear and look very old. all this while chargin R105 to watch a movie

The sound and visual was good, there is no issue there. Sure the Avengers End game movie was cut off on the edges but still nothing of a problem. They can and should look at the seating since some are ripped badly and padding is worn down. Also the mens room was incredibly slippery yet didnt look glossy like there was water spilled more dull and waxy yet there were no warning signs which could be risky. And lastly and this purely my opinion is that their prices are a bit high, but then I suppose all the cinemas are these days...I also just want to add that the floor lighting is a bit bright, making isle seats not ideal because of glare, especially while wearing glasses like the 3D ones. Maybe management could dim them a bit during the show...?

We went to watch star wars, the movie started half an hour late, and then the first 30 minutes were without any voices (only sound effects). Only to be told at the hour mark that the movie would not be started again or the problems fixed.On the plus side, they are pretty used to giving refunds.

I imagine that competing with Netflix etc is not easy, so why shoot yourself in the foot by charging what you do for popcorn, soda and sweets. How anyone can justify R35 for popcorn or R17 for 340ml water is beyond me. We all know what those things cost elsewhere, so why the mark-up? You are ensuring that people only come for the rarest of occasions, or massive blockbusters.On the up-side, there has been a noticeable improvement wrt the staff service.Come on, charge a reasonable price for your food and drink and maybe people will stop smuggling their own in.

I love going to the movies but its really becoming expensive! I enjoyed the overall experience but the staff service could be better. For example, I went to the movies to watch the new Lion King movie at midday on a Sunday. There was one staff member at the ticket purchasing counter and only two at the food and drinks counter. The queues were absolutely insane and Im so glad I booked online so I could at least avoid one of the queues. I was 30 mins early for the movie and walked in when the movie had already started. I missed the opening scene of one of the most iconic movies ever. And then at the end of the movie about 2 - 3 mins after the credits started, they switched on all the lights (full lighting and not partial as per normal).All in all, not a great experience at the only ster kinekor in the garden route for one of the busiest weekends of movie releases. Really need to up your game guys.

We go there periodically to watch the latest attractions. Its not the best movie theatre by far, however its ok. You can get the usual combo-box snacks, popcorn is always a bit dry. Nevertheless, the theatres and toilets are clean and you will enjoy the experience. We go at offpeak times and its nice and quiet with lots of seats to choose from.

We had a terrible movie experience today. after travelling 200km and spending 800 rand to watch star wars our excitement was damped by the worst sound and visual quality ever. i had to fiscally go out of the movie to ask to speak to the manager who was nowhere to be seen. only after the forth time dd someone respond to rectify the situation. very disappointed.

We visited Garden Route mall on our Holiday in December 2018. We came all the way from Hartenbos to watch a movie on a rainy day. As the movie starts the 3D part did not work and they had to stop the movie for 30min. We sat there waiting for them to fix it but then they said that everyone should refund their tickets because the film is broken. They waisted our time! Also a year back we also visited them and there was also difficulty with their 3D movie and we also had to wait long, before it started. Would not reccoment watching a 3D movie here.

Aweful. We came all the way to George to see a movie at 5:30pm. We arrived at 5 and apparently the employees decided to close the theater because „there were not that many people coming today.“ How is that possible? They closed the cinema on a Friday at 5pm because there weren’t that many people until then. Even though the website said they are multiple movies running, the majority of them AFTER 5pm. At which time did the employees think people would go into a movie on a Friday?🤔 10am?! Very disrespectful to anyone who takes his/her time to drive to the cinema and then gets disappointed by the theatre being closed because the employees seemed to don’t want to work right now.

What a disaster on 1 January 2018! The App, the self-help and pick-up tickets machines didnt work. Only 2 or 3 Ster Kinekor people who had to manage hundreds and hundreds of movie-goers. App took 2 payments, got refunded with complimentary tickets for 1 payment. There were a few other people who had the same issue @ Garden Route Mall. The theatre entrance wasnt clean. You have to up your game, Ster Kinekor. On the plus side: Staff was helpful when we eventually got to state our predicament!

Ster Kinekor was clean and everything worked fine. It was really empty. And that on a weekend. It is not that difficult to figure out why. It is really expensive. And that was the tickets. Wait till you want popcorn etc. It is easily more than the tickets.

HOW TO: Mess up a movie experience. Firstly, have your customer pay a obsene amount of money for snacks that cost you nothing to make. Secondly, dont play the picture of the trailers for the first 10 minutes, only audio. Turn the picture back on only for the customer to see ads for needless things. Thirdly, dont play the picture of the first 10 minutes of the movie itself, only the audio. Lastly stop the movie halfway through just to make sure that you didnt already piss off your customer enough. Honestly if I could give less than one star, I would have.

Ive had too many disappointments from this movie theater. Unfortunately it is the only one in a 300 km radius that is available so you must suck up the poor service. More than once, an advertised movie was just stopped and recently after only two weeks of showing. I actually purchased a ticket at the credit card kiosk and had to get a refund since they stopped showing the movie but the movie was still available to buy a ticket for. I purchased the expensive 3D movie ticket for a movie and then the projector broke right as the movie was about to start. One of the projectors malfunctioned. We almost missed the beginning of the movie. What I dont understand, is why they dont try to get more people to watch movies. They might have a lower profit margin per customer, but more filled seats would bring in more money. Sometimes the theaters are very empty. On my most recent visit the staff, who were chatting idolly, had the cheak to tell me I am nit allowed to take my healthy snacks into the movie; instead I was supposed to buy their unhealthy alternatives for an arm and a leg.

Out of 5 self-service/ticket line machines only one is working. After 20min of waiting the last machine stops working. Have to move and stand at the back of the line to buy a ticket where 1 person is working. Very poor!
