A beautiful place to stay overnight, especially for groups. The rooms are lovely and there is a self help kitchen. Lots to do outside, hiking, swimming, mountain. biking etc.

Thee owners of the property were exceptionally invitingly... the building previously had been the old post office and police station now converted into simply beautiful rooms with modern furniture and bathrooms but leaving the gorgeous vintage floors and walls the same..

Friendly staff and excellent food. Great view of the surrounding area.Been told that its not a town all though they have a church. Its a farming community. Loved the visit.They do have accommodation there for those that want to sleep over. A must visit.

We had a wonderful stay at over the mountain. The quite and beautiful scenery allow you to quickly gear down and relax as you look out across the valley. We found the rooms well appointed and everything clean.It is not often you find somewhere to stay that you can feel part of the goings on. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We shared a meal with them and enjoyed their company.

Eleven of us arrived at the restaurant half an hour before closing but they cheerfully served us a delicious late afternoon tea. Scones, cream and jam ; cinnamon cakes and pancakes,; chocolate cake, caramel pancakes and bobotie pancakes. Plates were locked cleaned. Beautiful setting at the gateway to Montagu pass, a great stop after a hike/drive in the mountains.

We had a long stay here and so glad we did. Owners and staff are friendly and helpful. We had the most beautiful views of the mountains from House of Grace. Also had a lovely breakfast in the tea garden. We will be back!

A beautiful place! The room is spotlessly clean and well appointed. Between the peaceful darkness and comfortable beds, one is virtually guaranteed a perfect nights sleep.The view is absolutely breath-taking and they have magnificant gardens with beautiful flowers.It is worth staying for the tea garden on weekends too!

We attended a Wedding in Herold last year, the family decided we wanted to have breakfast together the next morning before everyone went their separate ways, the nearest place I could and wanted to breakfast at was Over The Mountain, so I called them and asked pretty please if they could accommodate us, even if it was a scrambled egg and toast, since it was so last minute, we got there and the table was ready for us we had the loveliest Farmhouse Breakfast, took photos together in the Garden and spent such a memorable time together before getting back on the road to the long and short drives ahead of us. I cant wait to get back there after Lockdown ❤️❤️❤️

You have to take a drive up the scenic Montagu Pass and visit Over the Mountain. Delicious cinnamon buns or scones with coffee is our favourite. But you can have light meals or book for a lunch. You will not easily find such beautiful surroundings anywhere else while enjoying a meal!

We have just returned from a scrumptious birthday lunch catered by Over the Mountain Guest Farm. It was beautiful sitting in the garden surrounded by gorgeous flowers and a view to the mountains beyond. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Service was very good and personal. Highly recommend a visit there in this get-away over themountain from George.

Lockdown is no joke and this establishment has stuck to the rules even though they are losing money. Yesterdays review of 1 star and I dont like the place was both childish and uncalled for.

Amazing area. Nestled in the mountains. Just a short drive from Herolds Wines. Great food in the tea garden as well.

Situated in the historic town of Herold this picturesque guesthouse makes use of the old post office, police station and municipal buildings that have been restored to now offer accommodation. Take the old wagon road which starts at the guest house back into George for a truly unique experience. Any vehicle with ground clearance will manage comfortably.

Fantastic Experience, couldnt recommend more highly! The rooms were comfortable, warm and clean with fresh roses on the tables. The views are stunning and garden/tea garden lovely. The owners went out of their way to help in anyway they could. Our car broke down and we were towed back for an unexpected extra night stay. Even with our large family ( 5 small boys) they quickly arranged a room and even provided us with an evening meal with no notice! We are so thankful and impressed with their service and kindness.

A few weeks ago on our way home on a long roadtrip my parents decided to have a rest stop and checking in at Over The Mountain Guest Farm was an excellent decision. After a long and busy trip the tranquility of the farm was more than welcome and the owners were very kind and helpful.The location itself was absolutely stunning and serene. Waking up and catching the scent of jasmine on the breeze just added to the peacefulness of the area. Some of the facilities on site were a swimming pool, a trampoline and a tea garden to relax in. The guest farm offered b&b styled rooms with food served from the kitchen and could be enjoyed in the tea garden as well as self-catering rooms. George was located about half an hour away, taking you through the beautiful and winding Outeniqua pass.All in all, we had a fantastic two nights and would definitely recommend Over The Mountain Guest Farm.

Very quaint cozy cottage with very friendly owners who are eager to make the stay as good as possible. Excellent food and comfortable clean rooms.

Please do yourselves a favour and stay away from this Over the Mountain Guest Farm tea garden for we received very poor quality of food and drinks...my husband ordered plunger coffee but received coffee so weak we could actually see through it and it tasted horrible...I ordered rooibos tea but instead I received normal english tea! When we received our food the cinnamon and sugar pancakes were very salty and my husbands griddle cake were like a slamming cake. When we politely complained about the drinks at first they disputed our concern and asked us to rather leave and without making a scene were leaving in disbelief of what had just happened! Nevertheless we put R100 on the table and just left. We are very disappointed in the managers attitude towards us as well as the way he handled this complaint. How can this place be awarded a four star rating by treating its customers this way?
