Do I really have to give one star when Id rather give them zero?! I have to agree with reviews saying DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! After having to cancel a booking and make a new one I was assured (on the phone) that I did not have to make a new booking immediately, that I could just turn up on the day (3 days later) and come to the desk, ask for Brian and he would sort us out with a car for our 12-day hire. Deciding to trust his calm reassurances, we did just that - only to find that they had NO CAR for us when we arrived at George airport!!! Nada, nothing at all! And neither did the other companies at that time of the day (evening). The aforementioned guy didnt even have the balls to come out and talk to us himself!! We were just left high and dry and having to find our own way. No explanation, no efforts to help whatsoever. A R400 taxi ride and almost losing our BnB booking for the night ensued, due to the time wasted. Honestly, dont bother - they truly dont give a toss! In the end we got sorted the next day by Thrifty, who I do recommend - very helpful, and a great car.

My mistake - I didnt listen to the previous ratings here and thought i couldnt be that bad. Unfortunately it is. I dropped my car at the airport and after 4 months I still have lots of hassle with them for money they are claiming but dont deserve. The staff at the counter in George was very friendly and promised many things (fuel is OK, giving the car back earlier is fine and will be credited to my credit card and so on). Nothing was true in the end... NEVER AGAIN

Worst car rental I have ever used in george. We were only in george for 4 days. The car did not start on the second day. (We did not leave anything on). After trying to get them to bring a replacement car or just to check the battery my mother and I were told to jumpstart our car everytime we wanted to use the car. So for the last 2 days of our holiday we had to look for someone willing to jump start the car every time we wanted to go to the beach, shop or any place! They promised a replacement car and just did not show up as promised on the last day. What an inconvenient experience. Will never use this company again.

Had a really bad experience with you guys its really pathetic . I booked the car a week before . You guys did take my ID number and everything yet you failed to let me know im underaged and would happily take my money before hand. Yet when i arrived and went to get the car all of a sudden i was to young. You guys left me stranded and made me mis the birthday i flew all the way out for. Make it clear on your site that the minimum age is 23 and that even 22 and 10months wont do. I mean you guys had my ID you accepted the booking. Improve your site its not so hard to check age on a ID. Thanks for ruining everything. I would rather recommend AVIS to anyone else with a few calls i got to them i wish i only new earlier of them they saved me and quickly gave me a clean car last minute with the full cover package for much cheaper and they accept licensed drivers from the age of 18. Had a wonderful experience with them had no problems what so ever just wish i knew if them earlier.

We had to change the car due to a damaged tire. Without notice we just showed up and changed the car quick and easy

I had a pick up at this branch on 20 June after a long flight from the UK.There was a bright young lady by the name Saartjie de Beer (fce116) who effortlessly helped me out with my rental booking. I would definitely recommend firstCarRentel as the return was just as effortless and pleasant.

They give you an old car with old tires that are losing air then they charge you crazy money for tire problems !!. Stay away from this company if you need a safe car without being ripped off. Very bad

Do NOT use this company. They tried to give a car below the class that I booked. They then upgraded me to a vehicle in a class above the one I booked (after a fight). This vehicle however was not in a good condition. They then charged me extra for the car. Totally unacceptable

They gave me an old car of which the boot door was not closing properly. The front left wheel was making noise. They also did not give me the car that I was looking for to use. Unhappy customer
