Espice. One of the very best fine dining experiences in the winelands.
Its Lovely nice to be Here
Excellent venue staff and good breakfast. Definitely worth a revisit.
Loved every moment of our stay there. Breakfast is included and they whipped up gluten free treats each day for my celiac wife. The real stars are the people. They are still ramping back up and trying to figure out Hoteling during the Covid era and everyone was amazing! Looking forward to our return!
Tasteful, quiet and stylish. We came for a three night stay at the Quartier Francaise and enjoyed it thoroughly.Room was great and newly refurbished, as was most of the hotel. We had lunch in the garden at the Indian restaurant and dinner at the beer bar. Both were great. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful as we were travelling with a toddler.Parking was available and the gym is decent although not fully equipped.
Very nice - stopped for a g and t and a snack. We sat outside on a lovely terrace. We had chicken sate and sesame seed prawns, both of which were delicious and inexpensive. One thing to note is the tonic water is twice the cost of gin! We would recommend and would go back.
Friendly staff. Wonderful location. Amazing restaurant on site Petit la colombe. Fantastic service. Gorgeous suite. Highly recommended
The staff are as great as the facility
Had lunch at the Garden Room. Cocktails were nice but not boozy. They advertise the menu as tapas style but portions are larger. Out of the 8 tapas we got, only 2 were outstanding, the rest were under-seasoned. Had high expectations for this place. Service was great though.
We had the pleasure of dining at The Tasting Room on Saturday. What an amazing experience. The service, the food, the wine and the ambiance was absolutely fantastic. Every dish came as a surprise and we were just in awe of everything. Highly recommendable. Would love to go again.
Touted as one of the top restaurants in ZA, I actually had better, but I will still give it 4 stars for being the experience it was. Multiple courses with wine pairings all very good, some fantastic. The decor was modern but a tad cold for my liking even if pretty overall. The staff was efficient but snobby. Also I tried for months to get a reservation to no avail, but my guest house mom got one for us it a couple of hours! I think its running off previous reputation that is waning, the locals even know it
Very nice, excellent service, food amazing, never had anything quite like it. Art work didnt quite appeal to my personal taste. Wish them all the best we will return.
Its been a few years since I was last here, but the memory of the meal remains that is truly how good it is. Le Quartier Francais quite literally is my favourite restaurant on earth and I wish only to live closer. The food quality, service diligence, waiter knowledge and of wine and passion for the local produce really shone through for me. True fusion of foreign methods with local ingredients that has evolved quite naturally and beautifully over the years. Thank you Le Quartier Francais for a dining experience that has stayed with me for years.
The food was magnificently prepared. The wine pairing was definitely well thought through. The food.... as good as it was I must say I have had better but is a very deserving 4 stars as the experience was pleasant the service had heart and the waitress Charlynne was a gem and made the whole experience a fantastic one.
This is such a beautiful and tranquil place. Perfect getaway destination.
I think this is a good place for a quiet stay. Its peaceful given that its in the residential area
Totally fantastic food. Lovely ambience and decor and view of mountains. Excellent service.
Gorgeous, well maintained gardens, a luminous pool and delightful staff. Five stars are certainly earned by this exceptional hotel. If you can afford a stay, it is well worth it.
My wife and I dined at The Tasting Room, LQF in August of this year. Because we saw it as a special occasion and not something we would do often, we went for the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food is superb and a real experience for food lovers. The service and wine pairings were also fantastic.
Stunning setting with beautiful views. Good menu and lovely wine. Try the wooden chardonnay - very good!
Very comfortable hotel with excellent restaurants and central location in Franchhoek
Beautiful.... comfortable..... love the original art by local artists... Fantastic friendly service
Beautiful 27 room hotel with exquisite views and centre of town
Stayed here with family a couple of years ago. This place is incredible, rooms are great, service and food fantastic. We have done a lot of world travel and always compare hotel breakfasts to LQF, we havent found one that comes close. Looking forward to staying again next time we are in the Cape.
All beauty and style. Nice wine and food. Good upmarket hotel. Spa. Restaurants in Franshhoek.
Used to be one of the best restaurants in the country, but recent experience suggests that the prices have sky-rocketed, teh porions have got smaller and the food is good but uninspired. You can do just as well a lot more cheaply elsehwere in teh town, notably at Bon Vivant and Petite Ferme
Really really nice hotel.. Go to Protégé (not part of the hotel).
We were guests in most of the Top 10 Restaurants of South Africa in the last three years. Le Quartier Francais is definitely the best ! Wonderful surprising eight dishes, perfect wines and an easy going service. We are looking forward to coming back next year !!!
Breathtakingly Beautiful! Heaven on earth!
Quaint and classy with a beautiful view. Typical of pretty Franschoek!
The Tasting Room doesn’t exist anymore. The best is La Petite Colombe, reservation in advance is required.
Beautiful accommodations and friendly, courteous staff. Highly recommended!
One of the TOP restaurant Ive ever been!!!. Delightfully food and service!!
Cozy bar with a little selection of snacks. Great wine menu.
Great food and service. Will be back soon. Order their chocolate and mousse cake.
I have been at the Asian place for lunch with my girlfriend! The food was just ok, we have been charged for an alcoholic cocktail (pina colada) when we actually ordered and got the non alcoholic version of the same drink, worth 1/2! Fine an error can happen, we just really disappoint about the totally non honest way the waitress replied when I reported it: the alcoholic version costs more than 90zar, not just 85! But in the bill it was clearly written charge for alcoholic beverage 85zar.. We really felt cheated! Never again!
To my dismay I posted a “one” star rating for the LeQuartier Restaurant and my review immediately disappeared. Why? Let’s try again. I booked several days in advance from our hotel the Vineyard for reservations at the LeQuartier Francais Restaurant with the hotel’s receptionist, Justin. Several years previously, we had enjoyed a delightful lunch there and we wanted to celebrate my Boxing Day birthday there. When we arrived from our long drive we were told by the restaurant Manager that our reservation was made with the “Asian” restaurant (where the hotel serves breakfast). The Asian restaurant was totally/completely empty. When we explained that we definitely made reservations with the LeQuartier restaurant; that it was my birthday; we have driven from Cape Town; and the mistake was with LeQuartier. The manager laughed when he heard our explanation, unprofessionally patted my husband on the back and arrogantly said there was “no room.” Too bad!!! In other words, they wanted to fill the empty “Asian” restaurant. The restaurant manager, was not only unaccommodating knowing that the fault was with LeQuartier. What was even more difficult , he was ungracious and glib about our situation! If I could I would give LeQuartier “NO” stars. We went to the nearby Reuben restaurant as most restaurants were closed for Boxing Day… LeQuartier’s offhanded and bad attitude… don’t waste your time to go there!
After dining at most of the top restaurants in South Africa, this was by far the best experience!
👍
The perfect place to stay in Franschoek
Nice surprise on menu wirh foreign dishes.
Best service during our stay in SA. Food was really good, tastefull and wine tasting was extraordinary
Very nice, missing a bit of character in some places.
Its ambience is magnificent. If youre looking for luxury of a kind this is the place to be
Had the best meal of my life - by far. Absolutely Amazing!
Everything about this hotel is great well worth a visit
Strictly nonsmoking in the whole guesthouse, at the pool and everywhere. Smokers are banned to go dmoke beside the street. Else fine place to stay.
Theres two turn downs a day - in the morning and evening. Fantastic service!
Situated in historical town of Franschoek with excellent cuisine
Wish we could have stayed longer!!! Near shopping, restaurants, and staff made the stay a treat!
An African Inspired Surprise Tasting MenuWhat a wonderful day, that was part of a fantastic week in the Western Cape of South Africa. I had spent this entire day on a wine tour with Stephen Flesch of Gourmet Wine Tours of South Africa, and after some fantastic tastings, and a nice lunch, we were in the Franschhoek Wine Valley. The sights from atop the mountains looking down into the valley, and the Huguenot memorial were just fantastic. But dinner was now my main focus for concentration. I had reservations at the Le Quartier Français (the French Quarter) which is a small, privately owned auberge (Inn) that had a restaurant everyone was talking about. Rated #53 in the top 100 restaurants in the world by San Pellegrino for 2013, I knew that The Tasting Room would be right up my alley. The day before I had eaten at another top 100 in Cape Town, so I can yes, I was spoiling myself. The wine tasting of Stellenbosch was complete. I was so impressed with Stephen Flesch and his company Gourmet Wine Tours of South Africa that I decided to ask him to join me for this dinner meal, which would be an eight course meal, surprise tasting menu of South African inspired cuisine, with a ladies touch. Steve and I started in the Lounge Bar, as I enjoyed a cocktail starter with Primitiv Cederberg, South African vodka, and then was called into the main dining room of The Tasting Room, by last name and business title, which I thought was a very nice touch. As you enter the dining room, dangling from the ceiling are hundreds of white globes, with a service station to the left, then the main dining room to the right and straight ahead. To the right were the windows and a door leading to the patio area. The ceiling was low, about nine feet high, and the tables were a light brown oak, a very modern look.To read the entire review in full visit the Wine, Dine, and Play blog, and search under blog archive for January 2014 for The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais.
The common room is far from the reputation of LQF. Very short menu, very basic service, no effort for the food presentation. Disappointing
Beautiful hotel resort stunning
Exceptional food in a beautiful garden setting.
Brilliant. Book ahead and stay over night it is worth it.
Very very luxurious stylish place
We (7 people) stopped to have drinks and ordered beers. No menu (with prices) on the table. The charge for a tiny 25cl beer was 55 Rand, so a normal half liter glass for 110 Rand (9 Euro).Never again!

Enjoyed our experience
I felt very welcome
A really superb experience
All around awesome

Fine dining
One word... Quaint...
Unique experience
Very Chic !!!
Very upmarket
Lovely food
Nice place
Excellent
Blast 2 die for
Quiet area. Nice service. 2 calls in the morning if you want to have breakfast or have any other wishes. Almost too much 😉. Pool was not so clean and bathrooms a bit dated and loose faucet.
With high expectations we have today visited the restaurant of which the chef is highly praised. A limited menu initially seemed to confirm our suspicion that an exceptional meal awaited us. Unfortunately, this was an absolute disappointment! To make matters worse, we sat next to a noisy group of eight partying people. At our request and following the example of another couple, we moved to the garden. We then worked my husbands tiny stew and my tasteless mussels in between the masses of flies. A pitiful experience, not worth repeating!
Petit le colombs starred restaurant. Very interesting dishes, good service, very expensive for South Africa, almost 100 euros per person including wine
The new restaurant Protégé is the hit! Sensational creations with the idea to share many little things (similar to tapas, but classy). Delicious!
Didnt meet our expectations in any way. Service staff who prayed down the dishes bored .... then 4 ice-cold courses .... a cube of pork knuckle as the main course ...... lukewarm ..... we were disappointed from top to bottom after we got over Have waited a year for a place ..... without love for what you do it just doesnt work .... all in all, wasted money and badly invested time 😐 very, very unfortunate
We were two times guest, as Margot Janse still the restaurant led. Her 11-speed surprise menu has always been a sensation! Unfortunately, you are currently taking a break! One of the best cooks in South Africa with awards!
Absolutely top service.
Nice little corner very Frenchy.
Elegant, refined, special food. Very kind....
Excellent service and 16-course set menu meal accompanied by local wines and beers. Definitely in the best meals I have had the chance to eat in my life!
Awesome!
