Beautiful, beautiful hotel in the heart if Franschhoek. Conrad, the manager, is a huge asset to the hotel and is super knowledgeable about activities in and around Franschhoek. Room was spacious and comfortable with cute turn down service. Would return!

Manager was very helpful and friendly. Gave good recommendations for places to eat and wine tasting. Room and bathroom were large, so very spacious and comfortable. There were just two downsides which I think can be easily resolved for future visits.1. Room cleanliness and appearance. The bath didnt seem to have been cleaned when we checked in as I found some hair and what seemed like mascara marks on the side of the bath. So I had to wash the bath myself before using it. The bath towel had old black marks on it which also appeared to be from mascara. The white bed sheets also had old drop like stains on them. I assume the sheets and towels have had their fair amount of use and need replacing if the stains cannot be removed with thorough cleaning.2. The breakfast needs drastic improvement based on my two days of experience. The 3 tiered cold breakfast tray they serve every morning was fine, but the cooked breakfast was inedible for me personally. The food was drenched in oil and just not enjoyable. I ordered eggs benedict the first morning and my plate was covered in sauce which did not look or taste like hollandaise. I had to remove the actual breakfast from that plate to a side plate and attempt eating but I left most of it as it was oily. The second mornings breakfast was even worse...I had the croissant with scrambled egg, spinach and mushrooms. Again everything was drenched in oil as if every ingredient was thrown into the same oily pan. A croissant is made of butter so it does not need to be toasted in a pan with more butter or oil. I took one bite and left the rest. It made me nauseous instantly. I am not sure if the lady who cooked both breakfasts was actually the real cook at the hotel or just another staff member standing in for the cook, but I would highly recommend that a better cook is hired.I never complained about any of this on our trip because I did not want to be that guest and rather focused on enjoying our stay in Franschhoek. We still tipped the cook and the manager regardless as this has been a tough year for the hospitality industry. I wish them all the best and hope 2021 will be better.

Just so friendly and efficient

Our group of 8 people stayed at this charming and exclusive hotel for 3 nights. We were very impressed with our stay and in particular, Conrad, the manager - who went out of his way to exceed our expectations. The other staff were also very willing and friendly. The cleanliness of the hotel and its rooms, attention to detail, as well as all the small touches made our stay very memorable. Every night, we came back to a culinary treat in our rooms - something unique to South Africa that became a talking point with our overseas visitors.

We had a fantastic stay in December 2018 and absolutely loved this stunning hotel. We received such a warm welcome from Conrad & nothing was too much trouble during our 2 night stay. The hotel is beautiful, very charming & has a lovely laid back atmosphere. Our room was huge and immaculate, the pool area & terrace were lovely & the perfect place to relax. The help yourself bar was fab & we loved the delicious breakfast. The location was ideal & all the staff were fantastic. They even decorated our room with petals & left champagne for our honeymoom which was a lovely touch. I cant recommend this quaint boutique hotel enough!

The Last Word is a little gem of a hotel. A great location in the centre of Franschoek. The room was a great size, with comfortable bed and lounge area. A complimentary mini bar in the room, supplemented by a complimentary drinks selection from the self-service bar next to the dining area.Good quality cooked breakfast option with a self-service buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cant recommend this place enough!

Absolutely stunning boutique hotel. They really spoil you

The setting, location, spacious and luxurious rooms, breakfast - all contributed to a fantastic night away from town for my boyfriend and I. What really made it so memorable though was the service. The staff clearly take great pride in working there, and it shows in the love and attention given to all the details of the place. Well worth it - especially if you do the last minute special thing (50% off if you book and stay in the same week, although in summer youd be very lucky to get in at that notice).Well definitely be back!

Staff were exceptionally friendly and and couldnt do enough to be helpful. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. Turndown service included nice touches, creme brûlée, chocolate brownies.... Laundry service delivered to room and hung in wardrobe. Definitely would go again.

A lovely upscale boutique hotel with tastefully decorated rooms. The service is impeccable. The location is conveniently located in town. The parking is inside the hotel grounds.

Extremely comfortable place, great location and lovely extra touches. On our last night we returned to discover our room was candle-lit and an ice bucket with sparkling wine has been left for us.
