Not worth the R100 per person tickets in my opinion. If your really into the history of Huguenots and Franschoek it might be worthwhile. There is also a perfume museum which was really interesting.

A bit of a let down taking into consideration the price i paid and the size also the things to do. Id say R80 per person was a bit tight. Otherwise a good learning expedition and some nice artifacts. The museum is taken very well care of and is very neat.

The Hugenote memorial is in memory of the (mostly) French protestants who fled to FRANSchoek. The beautiful statue keeps watch on what happens down the main road of the peaceful town.

For those of you who are traveling to learn more about South Africas history, this is a well recommended resource as nobody really knows where the term Huguenot originated from... But was used for these settlers to the Oliphants Valley, now known as Franschoek. Filled with a lot of rich and beautiful history for those travelers who enjoys culture and museums... A defenit opportunity to explore how the earlier settlements would have worked...

Beautiful old antiques of the French Huguenot era, a memorial built for religious freedom (Protestant fled Catholic prosecution, reason they fled to SA). Also includes a wonderful building with a timeline for the sequence of events throughout history for the Huguenots, and a display of the original surnames and how they changed over time of the first 300 settlers to arrive in the Cape.

Had a lovely walk through the museum , if you would like to know more about Huguenot history them that the place to go. You do pay a fee to enter the museum and see the monument. Some people complain about this, but I see it as a maintenance fee. These places need contant upkeep , I am glad to pay if the area is clean and well maintained.

Its a tiny museum and the visit shouldnt take too long. The Hugenot community was very important for the local history and this museum celebrates that heritage. For their descendants there are nice little touches like the arrival dates for various families and family Bibles for more than a few. Others may not find the same level of interest. There was a small exhibit about slavery in the Cape too. If you do find yourself in the neighborhood why not drop by.

Very informative museum, even more so since the refurbishing of the main building. Sadly enough, the video summarising the story of the Huguenots is not played anymore. I believe it was too much of an effort to replace a defect DVD player which would have costed a mere R 1,000

The Huggenot Museum is worth a visit if you are in Franshoek. There are 2 buildings- the museum and the annex. The tickets are sold in the annex and there is a display of artifacts in the annex. However, I suggest that once you pay your entrance fee, you proceed across the road to the main museum. In the main museum bldg the story of the Hugenots is told very well a chronological time line. Once you have explored the main museum, return to the annex to look at the supporting items such as a beautiful goat cart and good explanations of Hugenot farming activities etc. There is a small gift shop in the Annex with some nice cards.
