Arrived at this beautiful venue with loads of excitement for a great afternoon. Unfortunately it lasted for 10 minutes. First tasting plate arrived, then we had to beg for service. Eventually got up to fetch our own beer order. UNDER STAFFED. Great beer, but frustrating experience. Been waiting 20 minutes now to just pay the bill. No follow up on food or drinks... management on computers while waiters are struggling to get orders out.
Absolutely love this space. Went for a morning drive to the gorgeous Franschhoek for the day and found this gem nestled in the beautiful lake side. Definitely something for the beer tasting lovers. Drinks are incredible, staff are professional & hospitable. The restaurant food is Fabulous. The space is beautiful especially around the lake.
Great place for events and the like. Wonderful setting, fantastic view. And then theres the food and drinks, it was mighty fine!
The food is amazing, atmosphere is awesome. Its a must check out place. Definitely going back
Had a wonderful time, my sisters pre wedding supper was filled with good food and plenty of and wide variety on drinks. Loved every moment of it. Helpful and Accomodating staff. Didnt want to go home 😂💯
I wasn’t too impressed the food although everyone else was, delicious beer, bubbly and they definitely did a good job making the snacks tasty they just weren’t my cup of tea
Lovely Brewery in the Franshoek Winelands. The restaurant is gorgeous with an large antique cement mixer that has been repurposed into a beautiful fireplace in the heart of this beautiful established. You know its going to be good when you see Peacocks outside
Social distancing was non existant. People bumping in you to just try and pass you. Not a good experience to put it very nicely
Wow. What a beautifull place to visit. Friendly people, and more Nice food as well.
The beer and service was good, so was the setting. So all told we enjoyed the experience and the peacocks .. but.. it was expensive beer for locals...
Beautiful setting, awesome vibe and food. Im not a beer drinker but the non-alcoholic and cherry beer did the trick!I cant wait to visit in summer when they reopen
Delicious tapas, great tasting beer. Would definitely recommend to anyone nearby to make the mission out to this fine establishment.
Beautiful, nice, vibrant. friendly staff, clean. child friendly good play area, delicious food. will always go back 👌
The venue is amazing, a real treat. Wide selection of well priced and tasty beers. unfortunately let down by the service staff. Arrived early and we were one of 3 tables. Still took 40min for a single waffle to be brought to the table and the waiter hardly checked if we needed or wanted anything. Would probably have ordered more beer but dealing with the waiter was more effort than it was worth
We attended a wedding at this venue. What an amazing setting in this beautiful garden overlooking the water feature. Then you go inside and the seating again impresses you with this modern take on an old industrial warehouse. The beer stainless steel tanks act as a backdrop to the bar and it makes for an impressive setting. All 3 courses of food were superb. Guests even had a choice for their main course. The evening was topped up with the celebration of the union of 2 wonderful people Paula and Reagan. This was a 5 star experience all the way.
View - beautiful, Atmosphere - awesome, service - excellent, food - delicious, craft beer -2 die for - full range. Would recommend highly.
Place is our go to when in franschhoek, food is great!!!Didnt have the greatest experience this time around in terms of service and getting our food in a decent time but I would nevertheless recommend this establishment.
Awesome vibe, great beer, great wine, enjoyed the food. The people working here is friendly and helpful, always get good service.
Amazing vibe and good food.
Hey Joe Brewing Company has only been open for 2 weeks...and man have they hit the nail on the head! From the location and decor to the amazingly friendly and professional staff. Our compliments to the Chef who prepared the most amazing dishes. (You have to try the chicken wings...a fusion of East and West that explodes with flavor in your mouth)
Fantastic food. Such a beautiful location. Kids had a ball in the open play area (even the teens!). The restaurant was full and service was very slow but the quality of the food and setting all made up for it!!
Private Brewery in Franschoek. Great selection of Craft, Belgian style beers. Knowledgeable host, good pub fare. I know you dont go to Franschoek for beer, but a most worthwhile detour.#supportlocal.
Ordered the Ribeye steak to be done medium rare but came medium well, sent it back and came back correct but I never like sending food back!!!!! Was with two good friends and it spoilt the expierience as we were there to watch the rugby.
Excellent beer, great food, definitely going back
Service non existent. Good took 75min for our food to come. No apology or explication on why it took so long. Asked 3 times where our food was.Had to ask 4 times for tomato sauce.Table never got cleared. No management presence. All round very dissappointing lunch!
A fabulous brewery - probably the best brewery venue that Ive ever been too. The beers and ales are wonderful. The food took a while to come out. I hardly ever send food back but their Sloppy Joe burger was awful - it was just mush :-( They were however decent enough to replace it with a deluxe burger, so well done to them.
Good service. Good food. Friendly staff.
Brilliant place!! Beerlovers paradise and wonderful food. Service was excellent and staff very efficient and friendly. Great family place as well.
Very nice venue. We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The non alcoholic pale ale was very good, does not taste like the typical non alcoholic beers. Would have loved to taste the real McCoy. Burgers was well cooked and tasteful. Service could have been a bit better, if I can fault something. I would suggest to book a table at the dam, under the trees.
There is a fine line between passion and OCD...... these bar men, wow.Amazing beer, great staff. All hope is not lost.
As far as taprooms go, this was by far one of my better experiences. Beautiful location, friendly staff, all compliment a fantastic beer selection and a delicious menu. The tasting tray serves a decent portion, which makes it that much more difficult to choose a favourite. The Blooming Onion, was Blooming amazing; as confirmed by the numbers delivered to our surrounding tables. I was undecided but eventually settled on the Sloppy Joe burger; in terms of flavour and portion, R85 was a steel, definitely one of my top 5 best burgers. And then the decadent sweets. All I can say to anybody considering a visit, best to book a table, because when the doors open they fill up quick. Ill definitely be back for the Pork Knuckle and a Speciale Belge.
Great location, friendly staff and awesome food. The BEERS are golden. Amazing flavours for every person. Must go
It is has been a few months now I have been driving pass this new establishment and just looking at the cars outside is a sign that this is a popular spot for people looking for good beer and good food...They will not be disappointed and so weren’t we!!Loved the smiling welcoming face of Simba and he was such a knowledgable young waiter.I had the beer tasting and the food passing our table were well presented.I am taking only one person to this place next time and that will be my brother in law who is celebrating his weight loss on Banting to celebrate his achievement. He is a lover of a good burger and I cannot weight. This is a wheel chair friendly place and the playing area for small children looks attractive.Loved every moment here.Did I mention the Market day on a Friday from 4pm till 7pm?Live music and wine farms from the region displaying their wines and offering tastings. The buzz is exhilirating🕺🕺🙌🏻🙌🏻
Best beer Ive ever had. Food is great and the setting is spectacular.
What an amazing venue, beside the beauty of the place. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to conduct a wedding here.. I hope I get to do many more her.
A fantastic venue with great food and attention to detail - and not to forget the fantastic beer. We will definitely be back.
Hamburger🍔 and chips was delicious and the beer 🍺 great. Service a bit slow but the food was worth the wait. Beautiful surrounds and kid friendly as well!
Management and Staff was top notch! Loved it...!!!
Nice outdoor setting.Inside looks great.Excellent beer and food.Decent prices on most menu items.Friendly staff. Will recommend.
Good ambience and nice scenery.
UPDATE: MARCH 9, 2020Please add another WiFi access point so your customers on the right side of the bar and dining room can use the guest access.Nealy one year later, things at Hey Joe seem to be working well. The pulled brisket burger (Sloppy Joe) bun is softer (thank you!) and delicious with the accompanying frites and delicate onion rings. The menu offers some new options as well.I recommend some acid for the brisket burger in the form of tomato sauce (ketchup) or perhaps a homemade BBQ sauce to compliment the protein, cheese and accoutrements. The pickle, cabbage and carrot garnish are intended for manual addition to the burger, but challenges patrons with burger construction exercises. The frites and onion slivers are well served by tomato sauce as well.Freshly charred broccoli and haricot vers with diced garlic is a welcome menu option for veg, but deserves a bit more char, less al-dente texture for the broccoli and additional garlic.Hey Joes core brews are alive and well. The saison and Belgian pale have slightly tweaked recipes. Looking forward to some seasonal and even more innovative offerings in the future, including barrel aged stout. Cheers to Anya working diligently behind the scenes. Thanks as well for the hygienic, disposable paper towels in the mens room.*****ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW*****The operation is running well for having opened three weeks ago. Many tables, both and out, were full by noon to 1300. My server was knowledgeable, polite and made every effort to provide good service. Both for and beer were relatively tasty. The feel of the place exudes cash spent on the structure, decoration, grounds and fancy laminated menus on metal clipboards. The Witbier, Saison and Brouer Maakn Plan (an especially earthy pale ale) are clearly the winners over a lager and blonde ale.The pulled brisket burger is unique and flavorful, however the bun could be a bit softer. Decent fries and fried shoestring onions. If the owners and management are amenable to a recommendation or two, may I suggest you strongly consider touch-less urinal sensors (nobody wants to touch to flush, especially in a restaurant), a touch-less electric hand dryer (instead of the chic rolled cloths that are out of place and another potential source of contamination) and a box of facial tissue in the mens room. Please also consider toning down the expensive menus. One laminated, double-sided paper menu would work really well for food, with another for drinks if you like. Spend less time and money on the frills and put it all back into the food, beverage and service.Best wishes to Hey Joe!
Great steak, best drinks and very peaceful.
Brilliant food, fantastic setting, dog friendly and great beer. What more does one need for the perfect day out...
Absolutely loved this experience! From the friendly staff, the most delicious vegetarian cheese burger and the beer. Wow wow wow so so incredible! Thank you 🙏🏽
Lovely setting. Great beer, food and service. Good Covid-19 protocol observance. Large outdoor area.
Great beer and good food.
This place was phenomenal.Beautiful set up food was delicious! and staff professional and friendly but most of all we had a fantastic time! Cheers to Hey Joe Brewing Company!
You arrive to an amazing setting with world class landscaping. Then you take a walk through the patio area and into the one of the most beautiful spaces. The brewery, mash tuns and fermenters in the background and a very welcoming bar, with the most amazing staff. The feel of the restaurant is not too formal and the decor and finishes are unpretentious and just, well: it feels like home. Well done Gavin & Team. You have made THE difference. Cheers to You! 🍻😎🍻
Stunning venue. Beautiful restaurant, the outdoors area is huge and has a dam, peacocks and tables under weeping willows. The food is a bit heavy and we didnt get to try the beer due to covid restrictions, but they have a non-alcoholic pale ale. Very family friendly
We are outdoors. Lovely views and they set up lots of shade amongst the trees. We were a party of 14. We had obviously booked . Good thing to because they got really busy on the Sunday. .my Sloppy Joe was great and I was dipping my chips into their extra hot sauce blend. I enjoyed every morsel. Be warned if you are not into hot food warn them else even the cheese burger may come with surprise. 4 stars is because the service outdoors is not up to scratch. Slow and a touch forgetful.
Love the venue and awesome spot to have a great time. Therefore it is with a heavy heart to give a 2 star rating purely for not being accommodating to assist with a birthday picnic event for kids and adults with food that is not on the menu or other than one type of picnic basket catering only for two when there is 16 people planned to attend the occasion.
Good food and beers!
Lovely vibe and good food
Went over Saturday lunch time and it was packed. Still quick and efficient service. Loved their Hey Joe blonde beer. Vegan hot dog was delicious too. Very unique interior - very high ceiling, feels a bit industrial and you can see their steel tanks from where you sit, cement mixing fireplace and beautiful colored glass windows.
Good beer. Good service. Impressive setting.
Great craft beer
Excellent all round. The venue, service and food.
The staff are amazing, but having the kiddies play area so far away from the restaurant is rediculous. And not allowing seating or service at the kiddies play area is beyond belief.
Great food and excellent grounds. Brilliant outdoor area. Unfortunately didnt get to have a beer tasting due to COVID
Would highly recommend you stay away from this establishment. My partner got diarrhoea and my stomach has been in a knot since I ate lunch there. The food was average at best and the brownies were served with stale cream. I implore you not to go to this restaurant should you be thinking about it.
Great food, beer and service
Fantastic friendly service, food and Beer
Love this place..it NEVER disappoints 🤩🇿🇦💥👌
Slow service. Waited 2 hours for food. Burgers were awfully bland especially the sloppy Joe and when I asked for mayonnaise to make it better I was charged an extra R10. Not a lot but when your food is already unappetizing its a lot. Wont go back.
Always a pleasure to visit here. Excellent ambiance, great service, good food and a good range of artisinal beers!
Great beer, great views, different seating locations and arrangements. Well worth a visit. Have the burger when there, its fantastic
A fantastic family, birthday lunch. The food was off the charts good. The service from from our waiter Jeff and the team was exemplary. Chef Nicola capped off an outstanding experience by presenting the birthday girls with THE most delicious vegan birthday cake. A fab surprise! The location is so child friendly too. We will definitely be back.
Another amazing afternoon at Hey Joe!Beer tasting and beer and food pairing was great. The pairing is R100 per person. Our burger was divine. The Hey Joe Sloppy burger. The next time we go, I need a full slice of the divine cheesecake.!!!!Such a great venue.Awesome staff. One of our new favourite places 💕🎉👌💃
Beautiful venue, delicious cheese cake and their beers are not bad either (hard for me to judge as Im not a beer drinker). The service was slacking a little but the service we did get was pleasant.
Lekker fruity Belgian Beer from the tap.
Amazing...... our second home !!!! Staff, food, atmosphere..... very special xxx
