Coming to Durban for our honeymoon...City lodge Hotel Durban not worth R1170 per night with no breakfast. Few bottles at the bar with a poor kitchen. My wife ordered chicken and Jalapeno Pizza and got a bacon Pizza. At the kitchen that is all they had. No soft drinks except schweppes. We couldnt find a simple sprite to drink at the first encounter. At the restaurant we had to queue for the order and no service at the tables even if you sit there the whole night. Someone with a uniform (a male person) sat at the corner with a toothpick and speaking on the phone all times while we sat at the restaurant tables and waited for guidance on how to order. The room was very ugly and pocky/tiny with a wooden floor with ugliest curtains hunging on the window. No water in the room even a small bottle.The cleaner knocks at the door earlier than expected 8:30amToilet fan not workingRoom walls smell wetNo shower gell or conditioner only soap available yet only hair soap no body soap. Basic things missing 🤔No bar fridge or microwave.No other facilities available were informed at the receiption when we asked for our information.Less coffee and tea essentialsThe corridor smelled like cigarettes all timesThe food was the worst. The beef burger was like plastic and we didnt get the pizza we asked. Only bacon availableThe experience was a nightmare and my wife asked to go back to Johannesburg and disliked Durban without seeing the beautiful beaches of Durban owing to the bad experience of the first night in Durban.The only good thing was the internet and the pillow however I expected the same service of city lodge hotel Durban as the one I experienced in Capetown.

The lodge is amazing, from the security guards, reception area, and room attendants they were all super friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and cleaned on request clean sheets and towels daily, if u looking for a self catering this is not for u!!! 5min walk to the north beach. We booked a room for my husband and I our child included and the room had a sleeper couch which was perfect.

I would love to be here someday for a weekend away and I hope they treat me good

Very slow check-in process.No lifts to second floor, had to drag luggage up stairs.Rooms are signed as COVID-19 compliant however experienced rash over body after sleeping there for a night. Bed sheets are not clean.Parking gates were broken during three day stay and safety of vehicles was a worry as one could walk off street into hotel parking.Not a great experience

A very well run establishment with great customer service

It wasnt such a nice experience, from the booking process, to the hygiene when comes to my room :( poor poor poor. More especially the fact that we live in covid times... My floor was literally dirty I could see foot steps of shoes which werent mine... I could clearly point at mob markings on the floor, but at least the reception guy tried his atmost best to assist us, the bar tender also assisted very nicely when comes to sourcing our Beverages as they werent available at the time. Security guy at the door who welcomed us and gave clear rules about covid and the conduct of the building/hotel.

The city lodge is centrally located to the ICC and exhibition centre. The entrance to the hotel is a bit complicated so watch the signs carefully. It was a lovely fresh clean hotel with big rooms. All essentials provided in the bathroom. The breakfast is served in a sunny room. The buffet was plentiful and appetizing. The egg station makes eggs to order. Tea and coffee served at the table. The breakfast venue doubles up for lunch and dinner which is convenient if you are too tired to go out. Ample parking bays.

We had good service from the beginning. We requested a room with a sleeper couch and the staff went out of their way to meet my request.When e requested linen and extra towels it was immediately brought to the room with a smile.Very happy with the service

This is a decent hotel. Same thing you would expect from any City Lodge. There was a decent amount of parking, the room was clean, and the breakfast selection was excellent.The only issue I had was the waitress at the restaurant in the evening who wasn’t very professional. All the other staff were professional, friendly and helpful.

The City Lodge Hotel Durban is a beautiful and safe place. I enjoyed a wonderful six day stay during a conference at the ICC. The breakfast and hotel restaurant has a great selection of food pretty much throughout the day. There is also a pool and a fitness room for relaxation.

Rooms not according to booking made months ago. Service in restaurant pathetic on first night but much improved thereafter. Only one waitress to serve all the guests in restaurant. We had to ask 3 times for a cup of cuppachino first evening but Well Done! much improved thereafter. The reception staff went out of their way to assist us.

I had a wonderful experience at City Lodge Durban. The assistant General Manager, Monica Jorgensen made our stay so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the place was clean. The pool area was relaxing and well taken care off. Wonderful experience

Excellent view (city and the ocean) The Hilton offers a Spa, Salon, Gym, Undercover parking, Meeting Rooms, Gift Shop,Security . Very safe for children.The restaurant is Wow A variety of dishes. Caters for all. Service is Super Excellent. Very efficient staff. Chefs are great. Meals are delicious.

SERVICES ARE SUPER. ROOFTOP HAS A VERY NICE POOL AND BAR AND JUST AN AMAZING VIEW OF THE BRAM INFRASTRUCTURE & NEIGHBOURING BUILDING.BUT EVERYTHING IS ELECTRICAL CHARGED. I THINK THERE IS TOO MUCH ACID ON THEIR CLEANING UTENSILS.

Calling the hotel to try and arrange a booking as their website was not allowing a booking at the price it showed the staff is surly, tired and not interested in what you have to say. Arriving at the hotel you are met by old, outdated decor thats in desperate need of an upgrade and corridors that are hot and musty. The staff is also not very welcoming. I had to call twice to borrow an iron. I had to call twice for someone to come and look at my aircon. There were ants in the room. The sheets are not changed daily. The sound proofing needs an overhaul as one can hear other guests if they speak loudly. Housekeeping does not pick up laundry in your room, you have to lug it to reception. The food is overpriced and either tasteless or overseasoned. I initially had the pulled pork sliders with chips which were bitter as the coleslaw had too much mayo and the chips were overseasoned and too salty. I also had the steak sandwich which I found tasteless but the fries were again too salty. Would not recommend a stay here...its really a last ditch option preferably for just one night. The only thing is has going for it is its proximity to the ICC but if a better hotel was in the area it would completely blow city lodge out the water.

Honestly speaking I didnt want to go there but ended loving the place. Stayed there for 3 days. The staff was super friendly and of course the bar closes very late. Shout to Zandile.

I stayed here mid July, 2017 on a work trip.The basement rooms are stuffy and there is a strong mold smell from the carpets. When I was moved to another room, it was slightly better, but the moldy smell was still there, which I think is just a health hazard. Honestly, the place doesnt smell clean.The breakfast was average, and some of the staff were friendly, however I found the staff at reception to be the least helpful.Overall the hotel is extremely disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. For the price they charge you can get much better service at other hotels in the area.This place really doesnt understand the art of hospitality.

Great service . The food is good and you can order from outside menus. The room is big. Comfortable bed and pillows. I really enjoyed my stay .

Good clean rooms. Friendly reception. The evening menu was a bit disappointing although breakfast was great. The other guests were very noisy though.

As we are preparing to depart....I would like to say thank you to City Lodge management and the team our stay was the best. We arrived on the 30 December 2018 - 04 January 2019, housekeeping team is the best our rooms where cleaned everyday. I really like that guests are not forced to eat at the dining area.We are looking forward to coming back in December 2019

Lovely setup and totally enjoyed their burgers

We had a great time at this place, on our way down there we called to confirm that we were running a bit late but definitely still on our way, we had no issues when we arrived. We just went straight to our room and it was very clean. When I go back to Durban I will definitely book here again.

Booked guests into hotel and using the meeting facility 1st class service and hospitality and Monica the manageress could not be more helpful
