Penthouse was really nice and big, but the shower pressure in all the bathrooms is really bad. The wing at night was super loud and coming in through the sliding doors, which were hard to operate and not sealed properly. Couldnt hear over the rattling. There was water leaking crom the ceiling in the master bathroom, and the carpet in the other room was sopping wet from a leak somewhere.The views were amazing, though.

Very old hotel. We are staying in the Penthouse and you would expect things to be exceptional.. On the outside they look good, but then you see the nitty gritty - dented toaster and fridge, 2 plug points to use for microwave oven, toaster and kettle, no water pressure unless you call maintenance, and even then, its still a trickle but enough to shower, old ice bucket being used as a dustbin in the top room. A fishy smell in the bathroom when we switch the lights on, so Im assuming burning wires.. Not the best experience

This was one of the best Durban holidays Ive had. I dont live far from the coast but when I checked in at The Palace, It felt like I was in a different country. The staff are so friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and neat and well equipped. You are situated 150m from the beach. A perfect beach holiday.

Great place, great location a weird thing is that you have to continuously request your room to get cleaned everyday and a second down side is the very compact parking there isnt enough space for 2 cars to come and go at the same time so if another car is approaching you....then good luck because your driving skills are about to get tested.

Rooms are modern clean and cosy!4 star because i didn’t have hot water at 4am, complained to reception but they said they can’t give me another room however they will inform the manager. No manager ever came to see me or apologize.According to some other residents, the hot water issue is nothing new.Neighbors on my floor played excessively loud music starting at 7am daily, even after multiple complaints to reception it still continued.Otherwise, reception & cleaning staff were friendly and parking was secure. They also host Cliq hourly rental cars which is convenient.

We enjoyed our stay, the stuff is helpful. Its well situated between uShaka Marine World and Suncoast casino.

The Penthouse is very smart, but lots of faults that need to be sorted out....leaks in the bathrooms and bedrooms when it rains...Low water pressure is a bit of an inconvenience

The palace hotel has possibly the best position on Durbans golden mile and with just a little bit more attention to detail could quite easily become the best timeshare resort in the Durban and Umhlanga area the restaurant commands a fantastic location but the food lets the hotel down. Staff are all very helpful just need to be made aware that timeshare owners pay expensive levies so to ask them to leave a deposit before you can place food are drinks on your account to be settled at the tail end of your holiday i feel is unacceptable. Generally give it a go i would recommend the hotel.

The hotel is clean and very accommodating. the sea view is wow😘im sure from now onwards im gonna book there every time I feel like visiting Durban again but please the elevator guys make sure both are working coz we wait for too long if only one is working and the fridge almost ruined our food. its not cold at the top even after we adjusted the settings it was still not cold but the pool side on level 5 and the spa massage it was great 🤞🏾so big up and the staff was number one well dressed and very helpful.

We did not enjoy our stay and even left early. This is very sad as we have travelled all the way from East London to spend time with my husbands mother and father as they are both very ill. The aircon in our room was not working, so our room ended up feeling like an oven, and thats with all the windows open. My 3 year old could sleep as it was soo hot. Only 1 lift was working out of the 2. Mind you that the hotel was full and took soo long to get from our floor to the bottom. We were so looking to enjoying our stay at The Palace but was very disappointed. We will not be staying there again or referring anyone to the hotel. Worst holiday ever........

Its a nice restaurant but they take forever to prepare food, its like they cook once you make an order

Did not enjoy our meals at Pesto whilst staying at the palace... restaurant did not have alot of drinks and meals that were on the menu... our meals took forever to be served... really need to improve service as well as quality of food.

Excellent food, service and hospitality. We stayed at the Palace for the last week and my vegetarian parents were with us for a few days. The GM together with the chefs made allowances to extend their vegetarian menu for us and the options recommended was absolutely delicious. Thanks so much.

Never again. On todays public holiday it seemed like your staff took the day off too. Waitresses too busy flirting with customers outside to greet, seat or attend to customers. We walked out and went to California Dreaming across the road. Great service, food and professionalism there, that Pesto could learn a lot from.

Beautiful place...Definitely worth the price especially the rooms are spacious n comfortable with beautiful views of the ocean. Staff is very friendly. Place is neat n tidy. I enjoyed a lovely massage at the spa with my gran, a lovely meal at the restaurant n the swimming pool is private n relaxing. My gran was so pleased with the friendly caring staff as well as room service. Keep it up👍

Very nice hotel, the staff are professional and helpful. I also wanted to add that the when the booking was made at the hotel we mentioned that it was my Sons birthday but did not ask for a cake one the staff members went out of there way to provide a birthday cake and did not inform us prior, it was very a thought gesture which excited my son even more.Good work from the Team @ the THE PALACE. Great service & food

It was a great stay, and close to the beach. We were on the waterfront everyday, doing activities. Just wish there was more toddler TV stations to unwind my kids after a busy day. But awesome view!

It would blow air but not cold air even on the coldest settings* Apparently this is a 4 star hotel but our room certainly was not* Loud air con units in the room across from us, the door didnt close and I had to go shove a towel in between the door and wall to keep it shut.* Our bathroom locked itself, had to call reception to come unlock it.* Bed was not really comfortable and pretty small for 2 people, though the heat mostly caused this problem.* We got called at 8:30 one morning waking us up so that someone that worked for the hotel group could try get us to fill in a form and try sell us stuff in the guise of a free breakfast.* One evening our bathroom stank of smoke due to poor ventilation

Visited the restaurant for lunch today. It was eerily empty but the three of us stood around waiting to be seated while staff spoke to each other. Walked out and wont return. Attitude explains the empty establishment over lunch time on a public holiday. Not recommended at all.

Super stunning. Home away from home. Spacious,very clean and well equipped rooms for a relaxed holiday with the family.Nice sea view. Almost, if not all Durban view from the penthouse (2201). Newly refurbished rooms.Love it.

Service was poor and food sub-standard. Ordered medium-rare steaks and 2 of the 3 were well done. 2 of our orders were also incorrectly taken by the waiter. I am highly unlikely to ever eat here again or ever recommend the restaurant to anyone

Nice place. The only issue was the old televisions. Breakfast was great.

Unfortunately, our stay was too short. But we were impressed with the courtesy and friendliness of staff and other guests who we would come into contact with in places like the lifts. Very high housekeeping standards are being maintained - even the insides of the lifts were spotlessly clean.

We stayed for 5 nights, the reception was warm and the service was out of this world. My highlight was a free cell phone we had to use for the duration of our stay. I would definitely visit again and recommend it to my family and friends.

We think Pesto is the best place to go and be at the Golden Mile, sitting at the sun deck with security outside, enjoy the beachfront vibe, people watching, excellent service and subherb food! All takes time, because all is freshly and individual done, but its great!

The Palace is a wonderful resort to stay at. It has a wonderful pool and games. It is right by the beach so one can easily walk to the beach and browse around and even hire bikes. They have room service as well. The rooms are amazing, and they are also spacious.

Beautiful, clean and very stylish top class hotel. With a 360 degree view of Durbans CBD and North Beach coast, why wouldnt anyone want to hive it a try. Offering the fool spectrum of Room service, boasting a Spar treatment, breakfast, restaurant with a bar. If Durban is the city, this hotel had better be where you are.

Friendly staff. Awesome service from the front desk and maintainance staff.1. Front desk went out of their way to accommodate our early arrival, especially since we had a 4 month old to manage.2. Cleaning staff were so considerate of the baby, caring to keep everything in order and worked so quietly during her naps so she wouldnt wake up.3. Maintenance staff went as far as replacing the tv with a easy to reach USB port for the baby music we would play during our stay.The reason that they did not get a 5 star would be the parking situation is tight for bigger vehicles. Otherwise, super safe, friendly, helpful and despite the parking, would be returning.
