I had the best haircut of my life here. Mel is a genius, she knew exactly what I wanted.The place was spotless, staff were extremely friendly. Excellent COVID-19 protocols, I hadnt been to a hairstylist for 2 years because I was so concerned about catching corona, but I felt so at ease at Mels.I would recommend this place to all my friends.

I visited Mels hair salon over a year ago and was happy with their services. I noticed there was another Vanessa Naidoo that recently gave them a 1 star with no reason. The salon contacted me asking how they could improve and I was surprised that someone gave them a 1 star. Im hoping she will give them some feedback as to why her visit was disappointing. Helpful, friendly service. Im not sure if they cut mens hair there but I took my son for a hair cut there and it was a real battle. Felt sorry for that hairdresser. She was patient and other hairdressers also came to assist. Overall a decent hair salon, clean and neat.

Went in for blonde highlights and came out with blue hair. Was told that it would wash out in two washes - six washes later and it is still bright blue! Was also made to go and find an ATM to get cash to pay for my blue treatment, as I was told that they dont accept credit card payments or EFTs because they dont have a bank account! I understand credit card payments are a risk because of COVID - but the same can be said regarding cash. Also why would a business not have a bank account? Surely an EFT payment would be the most COVID-friendly! Dodgey. What a joke.

Awesome experience. Everyone was so lovely and friendly. Helped me figure out exactly what treatment I needed for my really difficult hair. They also discuss pricing with you throughout the process to make sure it suits your budget. Tea, coffee, water and meals to order from the Spar downstairs were offered to me often. Everyone checked on me and other clients often and made me feel great. Walked out ready for a job interview with so much confidence ❤️👍

Excellent service, amicable staff, professional stylist at affordable prices. Had the Milkshake treatment done with color, highlights and a cut and set without blowing a hole in my pockets. Walked in with hair that nightmares are made of and walked out looking like a movie star. Mel and her hubby are a true inspiration to entrepreneurs out there and despite such success still remain humble to the core in servitude to their community. My hairdresser emigrated and I went to Mels Hair Salon at Kensington Square, Durban North for a consult. I was so impressed with Mel, decided to go ahead with root colouring, bearing in mind that my dark root growth was 3 months old, Mel did the most incredible job, I am so impressed, not only with her expertise but the warm welcome from every staff member and the products used on my hair are amazing and her prices are affordable!! @ZC absolutely correct the branch at Atrium is terrible. Took my little as well few months back and they cut her hair unevenly. Sorry to say but they staff is very amateur. Price not too bad but I guess its what you pay for . Rather spend that extra 100 or so to get a reasonable result. Never again.

Hair at mels is always busy but service is good such as staff provide coffee to the clients. They are affordable. There is ample parking and are found on the upper level.

Took my 2 daughter to the branch in overport city atrium. The lady that cut my daughters hair totally messed her hair up. I told her a straight fringe she cut a fringe with a angle that was so thick and also trimmed her hair very scew. I had to take her to another salon to redo it and the stylist was like this was not cut properly she did a bad job. My other daughter had a wash and blow so that was fine. Unfortunately I will never set foot in the salon again because of this bad hair experience. That stylist needs to listen to the customer.Dear Owner: I was there a few months ago with my daughters. This is unfortunately my honest experience there.Thankyou
