We stayed in the Goble Palms guest house for 4 nights and are very impressed with the service and the friendliness of the staff.The house itself is old and colonial, but very clean and tastefully decorated. The pool is small but perfect for cooling off. You can park comfortably within the garden walls and the luggage is brought directly to the room by the always friendly staff.The rooms are cozy, a bit old, but equipped with modern air conditioning, television and comfortable bed linen.The breakfast is really outstanding and is freshly prepared every day according to the wishes of the guests.Special mention should be made of manager Vincent and his brother, who have a great grip on the guest house and are always available for a short chat.

The room and bathroom decor was exquisite, extremely well done. Everything was clean, crisp and comfortable. They arranged a romantic turn-down for our 5th anniversary and it was just so lovely and obliging. Room, service, atmosphere, views and breakfast, all were excellent! We especially loved how the placed felt away from the hubbub outside, what with the foliage, lights on the trees, fountains etc. Best pick yet!

From the moment I made my booking I was treated like I had arrived. The owners so thoughtful and caring. The staff, God sent; helpful, polite, nothing is ever a big ask. We(myself and children) enjoyed our stay. The breakfast delightful. We had a room with a little private garden and it was adorable. If you ever looking for a place to stay with family especially if you are a single parent travelling solo with child/ren this is a wonderful place. It’s very safe. I’ll certainly be back again and again and again. Will also recommend it to family and friends. A special thank you to Goodman, who made the stay pleasant.

This is a magical place, where you can rest and enjoy the best that Durban has to offer. Restaurants close by with a view of the ocean as you have breakfast. I encourage everyone to come here and enjoy. The staff has the best service. Thanks guys!

Home away from home, friendly staff, good food, nice and quiet

Highly recommend staying here. This place is fantastic. The views are lovely. Everyone is so nice and helpful, Vincent has gone above and beyond to make sure our stay was great. I really enjoyed their breakfast menu. Plus there is secure parking, a real bonus for us!

Lovely place

Great place. I was in room 7 and it was a beautiful room with both shower and bath tub. The guest house oozes colonial charm. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The honesty bar is a bonus. Wonderful little touches, Amarula in the room, homemade biscuits, tea/coffee, chocolate. The breakfast was great, good variety of cereal, yoghurt, juice, baked goods and full English breakfast.A few tweaks here and there would improve the experience: in the bathroom - you must lift the toilet handle up after flushing otherwise it just keeps running, the tub taps need to be tightened because they move when you open which results in difficulty when trying to close the taps if you dont know that you need to hold the tap as well. The curtains in the bathroom could also do with laundering, there is visible dirt/dust in the folds.All in all though, I would happily return and recommend Goble Palms to others.

Well run establishment by owners Lionel and Leanne Gafney. The rooms are clean, comfy and well furnished and decorated.

Very friendly staff, always willing to help. The breakfast was superb and filling. The room was spacious and we enjoyed the Jacuzzi. The place is very neat and clean. Area is close to most Durban tourist destinations. I highly recommend the place. Only thing they can improve on is to have a phone in their rooms.

One of THE best places Ive ever stayed, rooms are plush, service is fantastic, breakfast is great, soon NOT miss out on the honesty bar. And the proprietor was a gent, entertaing and interesting. Dont let the odd location put you off. Great place.

We really liked the furniture and decorations in the room. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful and friendly. We werent able to park inside the gated area since there were only a few lots. So we had to park our car at the street.

This small guest house has a pool, has a small bar and a lovely architecture and a very colonial style interior design. Every room has a private area like a nice balcony or a piece of garden that is enclosed by the buildings walls. Very cleverly built, and makes you feel relaxed and not want to leave. The owners are nice people too, they offered a different place for every night we go out and we always liked it. I am hoping to come back and stay here again.

Rooms are incredibly beautiful and staff are amazing. Guest House is super close to all the nice beaches and the facilities are awesome. Loved the Pool House suite (room 2). Extremely spacious and perfect for a family. We will most certainly return to Goble Palms should we come to Durban again!

Very cosy, lovely guest house with a colonial style. The pool area is great for just lazing around, in fact we could spend a whole day at the pool without needing to venture out. The guest house is in a great area, very central to an abundance of fantastic restaurants and to the attractions of Durban. The breakfast is included in your stay and is really good. Finally, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend this guest lodge.

Morningside in Durban North has the tradition of old Anglo Style hones. Goble just has all the touches to make one feel at home. Great place and the manager was very welcoming and accommodating throughout the short stay!

There were some issues during check-in. Although we had a confirmed reservation. The room had been sold to someone else. Was eventually resolved.

Stunning colonial setting at this B&B. The rooms have all you need- aircon, TV, tasty biscuits and coffee, wifi, etc. A lot of thought has been put into the decor and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Breakfast is such a treat with a selection of delicious options to choose from and a city/sea view to enjoy. The staff are superbly accommodating. My favourite B&B in Durban.

Horrible stay. Its an old house so a lot noise,footsteps, doors opening, guests coming really late. Early morning from 5 am the staff was preparing breakfast, speaking loud, dropping stuff on the floor, drawers opening, cutlery cleaning sounds etc... so it was not the best night at all. Really short bed, if you are taller than 1.80 m your feet will be dangling in the air. Apart from that the beds were OK, nice and clean bedsheets.

Well situated colonial inspired guesthouse with great service.

This is the first review I have written and I am writing it because I had a memorably bad experience staying at Goble Palms Guest House in Durban and would not wish it on anyone. This guest house has high ratings from Trip Advisor and from the photos and in reality it looks a charming place. I was welcomed by a very friendly man who hails from the Congo called Emil. I stayed in the best room (R875). The problems with it are, first, that it has no air conditioning and was therefore full of mosquitoes; second, that the internet did not work - so having rushed to get to the place in time for a Skype meeting this could not take place; third, there was no desk at which to work - there was an ornately decorated wooden table which one could put things on but not to work at; fourth, I slept hardly at all as dogs were barking for several hours through the night, either on the property or very close to it; fifth, a car alarm went off very close to the property at about 5am and although that may not happen every night I wouldnt want to try a second night to find out. Finally, if you look out of your window in the morning you will be treated to the view of the owner chain smoking and and an ash tray full of cigarette ends - not an appetising sight. I asked him for an invoice when I left and the good gentleman said he would send one along in due course if I left my email address. I said he already had it when I had booked, and he told me that he had probably lost it. He didnt ask if I had enjoyed my visit. The pleasure of a stay in a Guest House has a lot to do with the ambience and Goble Palms and its owner do not have it.
