The place is beautiful, my word 😍😍🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 as advertisedBreath taking views, the ambiance, the works 🤌🏽🤌🏽The bed was so comfortable 😍😍🤌🏽❤️There’s WiFi and they were using smart tv setup 🔥But they have dogs on site and honestly no matter how friendly a dog is, a dog is a dog. I wanted to go into the main house to ask for an iron but I couldn’t because one of them started barking at me, closed the door and went back to my room, a little scared if I’m being honest 💔They barely have parking, be an experienced driver or at least drive an automatic when going there as the driveway to the gate is quite steep hey.We didn’t get a remote so we had to call each time approaching the gate - so always have airtime 🌚

This was definately one the most memorable places Ive ever stayed. Not because of any good experiences but definately one of the most horrible, awful, terrible places Ive ever stayed. The friendliness of the receptionist could not at any time rectify or justify what we were about to see and experience what we did. The room and linen was smelling of sigar or cigarette smoke, the floors were dirty, the curtains torned out, the shower floor dirty with sand, no shower door or curtain splattering the hardly working toilet. The mirror in the bedroom was broken and hanging scew and accentuated the dirty, oil stand bed headboard and cupboard. The view from the main bedroom window was an old, dirty wall. Dont be fooled by pictures on a website like the one which I saw now. Read the reviews and recommendations and make sure N O T to put your credit card details on rediculously high rates for a horrible place like this :(((

OMG! everything seemed so lovely, i was looking forward to securing a booking for 7 days until i called and spoke to receptionist who could not tell me what the prices were? truly disappointed at the lack of enthusiasm to secure booking .

The worst place to book. Not clean, bathroom smells. We were welcome with great service. We booked an Ocean View Apartment. They put us in a cottage. No ocean was ver viewed. Our room was only cleaned cause we lost it with them. their service is terrible, staff is unfriendly. No management on site, wifi didnt work. I was sold dreams and I need my money back.

When checking in, the room I had reserved was not available for the entire duration of my stay. They offered me a mediocre apartment instead which is not what I was expecting. I got only a one nights stay at the room I liked since the room was double booked. Spent two hours after checking in looking for another place to stay the following day. Getting to the room, the side lamps don’t work, they didn’t have wine glasses to offer guests, the room window handle is broken so keeps banging, the bathroom door is broken. Tiny tiny fridge which is on the floor (1/3 size of a bar fridge) so you must crouch to put anything inside. There is no large room mirror as depicted in the pics. Towels had holes. I was honestly not happy with my stay. The place needs some love and attention.

Beautiful place, but no maintenance takes place. Theres dirty where there shouldnt be any. Breathtaking views. Both pools had dirt in it, we couldnt swim😭. Their curtains were dirty. Milk in the tea table had expired like 2months ago(only noticed after I had some tea) . The bathroom needs an extractor cause theres no shower door everything gets wet when one is taking a shower. The staff is great but need to pay more attention!

Needs staff to be attentive. 4 night stay and no towel change. Breakfast order wrong every morning. But it was an ok stay otherwise. The dogs were the highlight of the stay there. 😁

Poorly managed and lacks general maintenance. Covid-19 protocols are also not followed by staff members. I am still waiting on their management to process my refund that been over two month now with no response.

This was a pleasant surprise and a pleasant experience. A hidden gem close to the harbour, a great street with a vibe for all ages and restaurants to suit all tastes. When boarding MSC cruises this is a great place to stay before and/or after. The staff are friendly and awesome and made us feel so special and welcome.

Its 01h27...imagine being woken up by water dripping onto the bed, only to walk through another puddle in the passage. Surely not the first time it rains in Durbs. Parking an issue, (Room 1) main entrance door doesnt lock, toilet fitting missing, shower old, with view of littered yard and laundry...feels like theyre doing me a favour. Not taking a chance with breakfast...Sad!

On arrival there was no orientation. The breakfast was burnt and not fresh. No clean towels. They have dogs (3) which disturbs youre having breakfast. Im afraid of dogs and they would burk. No one seemed to care. In the the rooms there was a tea table with glasses and no tea cups.

A beautiful house, well taken care of, with very polite and friendly hosts. It is decorated in a traditional, historical style. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there - the supper was also fantastic. Pool looks great too, in a well-kept indigenous garden.

This place doesnt deserve a 4 star rating. They gave an apple in a juice, thats their definition of fruit salad . Thats called taking people for granted.

Rooms are full of mould, you cannot breath in there. I told them about it, they put us in a bigger room calling it a upgrade, same story there. It wasnt even 5min later that the maintenance man started painting over the mould in the room. I called the reception at 1 in the morning to ask them to keep it down in the main house as they were palying music very loudly and trying to talk ro each other over the noise from the music, I get a knock on the door by a intoxicated staff member telling me that it is the owner that is hosting a party. Shortly after that the employees that were shouting at each other in the morning hours started urinating on the wall right under our bedroom window. This place should be shut down, it is truely disguisting. I would rather swallow hot coals than ever go back there again.

Bad bad bad. Waited 1 hour for room to be ready. Then bathroom was still dirty with now towels. Bedding unchanged,make-up on pillows. Then BED BuGS in bed.Still waiting for my full refund as we did obviously not stay there!!!!

Room was disgusting and water leakage from the shower.. breakfast is worst.doors were not locked properly.. dont care attitude from the management absolutely waste of money..no parking space no hospitality at all

The brandnew renovated Essenwood house is the place where we really feel home. Its cosy, breathtaking views, a stunning pool, modern rooms and comfortable beds. The staff is superfriendly and welcoming. Its a central place in a upmarket safe area. If you love dogs here are 4 waiting for you and your family

The most enjoyable bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at.The owner as well as staff were all very friendly, and accommodating.There was a lovely English breakfast set out, with plentiful options for ovo-lacto-vegetarians like myself. This is something of a rare occurrence.An even rarer occurrence was how clean the room was. Never have I stayed at a bed and breakfast or hotel that was kept so spotless. The bathroom was all in white, which emphasised the total lack of dirt or grime.The sheets were clean and for once I did not wish there had been space in my bag for me to bring my own.I will most definitely be staying there for all my future visits to Durban.It is located in centre Durban and is less than a ten mininute drive from the ICC, however it is in a safe area.
