This place is part of the history of Overport and Durban! This was the pitstop after a night out on the town due to it being open 24/7,with people across all race groups opting for the legendary chip and cheese with mutton curry gravy roti. A few of these could feed an entire army! They have a wide range of dishes that are just as delicious. They also have a feeding scheme initiative in which one could order certain and dishes in large quantities (100+) to donate to a feeding scheme or charity of your choice, for a fraction of the cost. Must see when in Durban!

Was very disappointed this weekend.drove 19 km thinking of gud food.mix veg was bland so little salt and masala.colour was like eating boiled veg curry.big roti no salt beans no taste.very little salt.food had no colour.sory never again

They allowed us to order a 100 veggie bunnies to distribute at a really low rate of R7 a bunny. Really thankful for the service. Defiantly deserves a 5 star but I had to go and draw cash something I never carry, so for that reason I have opted for 4 stars.

3rd time I have ordered here. First few times was nice. This time the rotties were burnt black as well as the chips. So bad it tasted bitter.

Disappointed with the order I received. I called in ahead of time and placed my order. When I got there 20 minutes later as requested I still had to wait another 10min.When I left and was about to eat I see my order is wrong 🤦🏽‍♂️

Ordered the mutton chip roti, it was more chip than anything with 3 pieces of mutton. Asked them to make it extra hot and to include chillies and hot sauce but they only put hot sauce. Used to order from them 2 years ago but now its not the same

Easy,quick and cost effective meal, ideal if youre on the run and low on funds, most other food options other than chip n cheese are not available during my last three events.

We heard this place is an institution in Durban and went here for late night snacks. Taxi drivers also know the place well, theyre famous for their stuffed rotis and its also one of your only options to get food late at night. Honestly, one of the classic cheese n chips roti weighs like 2 pounds, is stuffed with fries, gravy and cheese and can feed a whole family for a week. We bought 5 for r33 each, gave 2 away to our taxi driver and a homeless guy and hardly finished 2 of the remaining rotis with 5 people. Dont expect haute cuisine but this is what you need to eat after drunk night out in Durban.

Always something too eat at an affordable rate. Be hungry when you buy one of those Rotis 😋

DURBAN ICON , WEIRD BRUTAL AND SATISFYING COMFORT FOOD.Couple years later, still the same, just a bigger menu now.

Cashier blatantly ignored me while he was having a personal call. I confronted him about it & he did not seem phased at all. That type of customer service prevents customers from returning.

Unfortunately lately (in Cape Town branch as well as Durban branch) the cheap plastic containers either melt into the food or leave a nasty plastic flavour.The curry is really good tho - just recommend bringing own containers!

Portions are generous. Chicken Breyani was good, Chicken Roti could have done with some more flavour. The Mutton curry was also good. Curries would have been even better with Basmati rice. Unfortunately we didnt manage to get Mutton Roti.

Ordered mutton roti and a chip and 2 cheese both with extra gravy. 2 small pieces of mutton with potatoe and a little gravy. Chip roti was no gravy. Most dissapointing rotis ive ever had and been going there for 30 odd years. Rather sad to write such a bad review but your food was shocking..Baboo will be turning in his grave.

Take aways only. Justifiably famous for its giant rotis... at a bargain price. For me their slap chips stand out as exceptional.Have been going here for nearly 30 years... (often at 03:00 in the morning) and I have never been disappointed.Only issue is access, limited parking and a few minutes wait.

So, so, so dissapointed by my most recent visit, this morning.Ii havent eaten here since before lockdown, and Im sad to say that the quality of the rotis have degraded completely. Asked for mutton gravy, received some cheap, disgusting sauce that looks like it came out of a packet, and there was absolutely zero mutton flavor even. Asked for a chip and 5 cheese, received barely any cheese at all, and half the chips were uncooked.The server was not wearing a mask, which is highly concerning. And he appeared to be high on something.Such a sad thing to see a store as iconic as this, completely fall by the wayside.Ii really hope the next roti I have from Johnnys Sunrise wont be my last

Nice tasting rotis, very great value for money. However they do add quite a heavy amount potato chips and very little meat in their meat rotis, the one which I find very disappointing.

So sad when such a well known, legendary establishment looses its way. Service is extremly slow, only a few choices available off their menu in stock, always short of change, too few staff and curries have lost their spices and flavour... they are just hot now without the required traditional mix of spices and herbs. Very sad for such a well known value for money Durban landmark to have sunk so low.

What a wonderful, tested and proven over time,family take out. Great food prepared to perfection from years of experience. What you see is what you get. Good food at good prices. Staff is friendly and helpful.I had my first Mutton Roti there in 1997 and I still remember it as it was yesterday. Go and try the food out. Thousands of people can not be wrong when going back time after time. They run specials from time to time as well, so keep an eye out.

Great chip n beans roti wrap! Quick service. Super affordable. Parking can be extremely difficult to find during the day. People in overport arent very patient which is understandable, Id also want to get out of that place as fast as possible.

Didnt have all the food items. Couldnt order a Gatsby or kebabs. Food quality is also going down. Not spicy anymore.

This was a place of cheap, really fast food in my youth. 20 odd years later the quality has dropped off somewhat. however at 3AM in the morning this place still has its usefulness.

The roti was dry and flavorless, definitely not deserving of the legendary status.

We ordered the chip and cheese roti with extra cheese.There was absolutely no flavour no extra cheese.I will not be supporting them.A third star would have been given but the guy wouldnt even exchange the R2 coin so that we could play the teddy bear machine!

Ordered the largest roti ever. Filled with chips, salad, sauce, egg and chicken. Fed 6 adults comfortably!! Had to wait about 25 minutes- made fresh. No place to sit only take away. Parking can also be tricky. Cost 150 rands.

As far as I know this establishment has always been open. I arrived 8:00am , was told to come back at 8:45. When I arrived at 8:45 I was told to come back at 9:45 by a different person. I drove all the way from Woodlands to come get the food and have been sent away empty handed. Extremely disappointed

Cheap food, slow service and average taste. Nothing special about this place. A peek through the kitchen will give you a glimpse of a rather dirty kitchen and unhygienic cooking process.

Cheap and quality.Chicken rotie is my go-to meal, however the veggie curry, beans curry and even their chips and cheese rotie (for the poor student market) are winners.By my guess they have been open for 30 years. Very affordable price on food, also bog portions

This was a firm favorite for many years, and so it is very sad to see the quality of food and the staff attitude to drop to the level it is these days. We have tried numerous times to see if the bad experience was once off, but sadly it has been consistently declining. Mutton rotis used to fall apart because the meat was so tender. Nowadays you fight and tear at your meal just to break the mutton fat/sinew. No one wants that when they just want to enjoy their meal. Weve ordered the chip 4 cheeses roti and only received one cheese despite trying to confirm with the staff if our order is correct. The front staff simply do not care. Rather spend your money at a place that pairs good food with good service.
