Together these dedicated legal eagles helped me deliver the legal punch I feel my ex deserved to receive, all legal and binding. Divorce is painful , but you have to fight and never give up.Peace is not a given, you have to take it. Be strong . In NOVEMBER 2019 we chose this law office after reading the Google reviews.As overseas clients and in relation to child proceedings we would not recommend this law office based upon our experiences.The case was in relation to a child of divorced parents, the child lives in South Africa (SA) as does the mother and the other parent in the UK.Custody was the initial enquiry made by the British parent to the law office and was met with a realistic chance of a positive outcome. However before this could even be considered, parental responsibility was required and for the child to spend time in UK first. Parental responsibility was gained in July 2020 but no further progress has been made, at all... we cant tell you why as we dont know either.To explain the circumstances of the case, the child was born in UK and both parents on birth certificate, but on returning to SA the mother did not add the father to a SA birth certificate she sought. Years later the child was removed from the mother and put in the social care system in SA due to neglect amongst other things. However, without parental responsibility of the overseas parent, it was not possible to seek custody of the child.The reasons why we wouldnt recommend using this attorneys for such a case include having to chase for results regarding court, chase for answers to emails, advice was never ever forthcoming, neither was clarity or direction – has been hard work as a client throughout and it really shouldn’t have been. Timeliness was an issue prior to Covid-19. We are still waiting for this matter to return to High Court and after months of not hearing anything we sent an email to the law office in December 2020 ... no reply. So have sent another email February 2021.We have raised on more than one occasion previously our complaints regarding the poor communication and those emails were usually answered and quicker than anything case related.A court order was sought in the family court for contact as the child returned to the mother in February 2020 and contact became sporadic and then parental alienation took hold. The UK parent and child are no longer in contact. We only found out of the family court orders existence 2 weeks after its initiation and not by the Law offices of Karen Olivier but by the child’s social worker.As explained parental responsibility was granted by the High Court in JULY 2020 some 8 months from initiating the Law office. The mother was ordered to obtain passports for the child by September 2020, this has not happened and not yet been challenged and the matter regarding travel to the UK, also still waiting.We have paid A HUGE amount 265,000.00 Rand(borrowed) money in this case. The returns? a massive loss and as you have read, not just financially.
