Dont try this. Stood in queue for 3.5 hours. No special treatment for pensioners. They prefer agents who walk straight in. If you are doing your own licence renewal you have to be in the first 100 or forget about getting in.

Dont bother.Literally a queue outside to go inside to queue to go into another queue to go inside. That alone takes the entire day regardless of what time you come.Then people jumping queues. Leaving coming back with the security guards not caring.They do not care even if it is raining. You are sitting outside if thats your spot in the queue.Then once you are there another set of queues with tellers leaving/empty because of lunch etc.On top of the fact that they close at 14:30. The only redeeming quality is that I lucked out on a relatively friendly teller after having to be very careful to not piss them off.Its the typical South African service. Total time spent 8am-2pm0/5 stars if I could give zero stars.

Worse place ever, Ive been there more than twice there are certain people to pay just to skip the que I think it better if securities and some of people who waits outside the gate can be monitored just make sure there isnt any injustice, but other than that their staff are doing well.

There was a queue but it was better than last year when covid just started..From my visits there since covid i find most tellers allows people to just approach them without following the queues, seems like here therez a benefit for them in kind..So u was blessed today because a very helpful guy who was guiding the queues got me through..And again at the queue i saw what i experienced before..This time i approached an told this indian guy Hi, didnt even see you in this line but you suddenly by me, so this lady cashier takes my papers an quickly prints my logbook, without saying a word..Which now makes me believes what i have seen an know..Its very unfair to others who sits fir hours an hours..🤔🤔

The staff were super helpfull. Cashiers super efficient and super friendly. Even under trying circumstances, especially when the system was not fully functional and was slow, staff were friendly. Unfortunately the queue place holders were a pain and caused issues, but cannot penalize the staff.

Sad place to visit....people outside influence the guards how to operate and most of these people have booklets of registrations for others as they get paid a fee and becomes their daily business....again people outside controlling the movement....not acceptable at all...I was there today to renew my car licence and stood in the pensioners queue and Shen the gates opened told that only disabled people will be accepted....now what the guards dont understand who are pensioners and who are disabled people....the law states that pensioners must be accepted as a rule...did not happened....we where fooled like babies....very very sad....who makes these rules as they must intervene and not allow fraudulent issues to continue outside the gates and fool the system....very sad and pathetic service provider....its just getting worse!!!!!

Great staff and very good adherence to Covid-19 protocol. Despite delays everyone was friendly and helpful. Chairs available in the shade to make the waiting outside the building more tolerable. Once inside everything goes quickly and super efficiently provided you have all the correct documentation. A great experience, thank you Umbilo centre!

If you deciding to go license a vehicle, you have to be there like 6 in the morning or earlier to be in front. The service is slow. Sorry the service was always slow like any government department. Now its worse. the Gobal License office is closed due to building being condemned. So the only office opened for Durban (ND) license is Umbilo.Was there on the 01st April 2021 from 07h30. I waited in the lines and was told at 10:45 computers was down. Later we discovered that this was a fib. The staff wanted to leave early because it was the start of the long weekend.Seriously go very early or take the day off because you will be there the entire day.

It was an excellent experience! It did not start of that way. I arrived at Umbilo Motor Licensing branch at about 1115hrs on Mon 26 April 2021. The poor adherence to COVID 19 protocols was disappointing while the hours passed in the tent. On reaching the building it was very different from start to finish. Special mention must be made of the most friendly and professional service I received from Kerren at till(no.8), as she not only promptly assisted me with my new vehicle log book but helped searched the system with only the name and date of birth that I provided.Her service changed my opinion of the Motor Licensing Department.Thank you and very greatful.S. Even if you are a pensioner get there by 7am because they sometimes let you in just after 7 to sit in the tent. Pensioner queue is on the left of the gate. Depends on which security team is on duty because some are more efficient than others. Normal queue is chaotic with those running a business outside always at the front. Why all counters are not open I dont know because Goble Road staff also work there. Office does not always open at 8am.

Not open for business and information is sketchy. I understand that they have power issues and that raises questions on how can government institutions fail to have back up power systems? People have been waiting for answers from morning and its almost noon and nothing is happening. On the road, traffic officials will never listen to what they will call excuses for not having renewed the license

The service was so pathetic. I went to do my traffic register. Got there at 10h00. Stood in the que from then( there was loadshedding from 10-12) and I understood. After 12 nobody opened for us, instead guards were taking bribes to let some in. Only got in at 14h30. Waited another que inside the yard to go into a tent, then waited in the tent to go wait inside. I got inside at around 15h00. Waited my turn only for the teller to tell me that the traffic register processing closes at 13h00. I had been patient the whole day, but this, this just had to be the cherry on top. I explain to her and she tells me to speak to the guard.i go to the guard outside and asked him if I come tomorrow would he let me in considering this info, he asks me, what is in it for me? I walked away. That was just it. There is no public concern whatsoever, I mean, why dont they just tell us all these things beforehand??? I wasted a whole day for something that if communicated with us, it wouldnt be so. Oh, and I only left there at 16h00.😤

I actually have pictures and videos of money being transferred and ppl coming from the main gate to the main office. Very busy you have to he there early to get in as they are the only branch currently open for ND registrations. No social distancing in the queues outsied in the hot sun. They only allow 60 people in daily. Tellers works quick & efficient but there is only 2 enquiry ladies that takes there time and leave the counters unoccupied at times.

Gooday.It was a huge challenge for everyone.Terribly stressful for all. The line outside the gate is not good. There should be better organisation. People have to wait at ridiculous hours in the morning.Not to be guaranteed they will be seen.I understand there is covid & a back log. But its still totally unacceptable.Once the people are in the gate theres much better organization. Once you in the building it goes quickly. But not everyone gets there.I felt very sorry for those who get turned away. Thank you.

Very disappointed. I was told to stay on the line and be the last one and asked to tell those whonarrive after me to go as they were not going to be served. So I did as instructed, people left. After 2 and half hours on the line waiting, 13 of us were told that we will not be allowed to enter and get served.People must avoid listening to anything those security guards say, they can change anytime and chase you away.

Pathetic service.... Security failed to prevent people from jumping the queue... Conveniently..... People are disrespectful in the first place for following protocol. Theres no direction or guidance to assist. Theres no separate queues for different services so a person ends up following the same queue no matter the reason (enquiries, permits, license renewal, etc all follow 1 queue).... From 7.45 to 15.45 just to get to the counter for help.... Parking inside the premises is not permitted so one can imagine the chaos with people double parking and parking one in....the Department needs to put processes in place to ensure that people get a professional assistance

Went there at around 8am and only finished at 13.30They need to train their staff specially at the entrance. Told them what I came for and they said must join a certain queue. Waited 2 hrs outside and then joined the queue indicated by their staff for about 1 hr and at the till they said I should have gone to the enquiry section! And waited again 1 hr to be serve.

No parking inside premises.No queue management system. You have to follow the queue just to get a form that needs to be filled in and rejoin the queue.Dealers representative/contacts get preferred treatment.I noticed quite a few guys that had loads of forms that bypassed the queue and went straight in.A nod to the security guard was enough.

Been there since just after 5am only to be turned away at 11am as their quota of 150 customers was reached. Blatant and open acceptance of bribes by officials. Lots of undesirable elements looking for opportunities. Security does nothing.Once youve queued outside on the road you get to queue inside.Would give 0 stars if possible.

I arrived at 5am Thurs 19th Nov positioned myself a reasonable distance from the gate. Gates opened soon after 8am over 60s allowed in first then everyone else arrived from their cars who apparently are there from 3:30. I ended up being 86 in the queue. It took me 7 hours to get to the cashier to collect my log book which was ordered two weeks earlier at Goble which now temporarily closed due to water damage. I was then told the log book was not ready as Goble have a back log and I should return next week but phone first. If you try phoning, of which I did prior to my visit, but no one answers. Bad Day

People who work in this office thinks they are doing us a favour. I arrived here at 9.10 and waited outside in the sun until 12.20. We were told that we could wait at our own risk as there was no guarantee that we would be helped.Even when we asked for the forms, we were told to follow the queue that goes inside so that you can follow another queue to sit down , then go follow the queue in the tent to go follow another queue inside without anyone bothering to check if we had the correct documents required or not.I had a medical aid statement and rental statement as my proof of residence but I was told at 15.10 to bring a lease agreement which is more than a year old whereas they need something not older than 3 months, what an utter disgusting rubbish. The service of a motor licencing in Johannesburg is much better compared to this nonsense. I would rather keep my car registered in GP than going back to these people who are moody, disrespectful and full of bad attitude and doesnt care about people they serve. They are very strict on us whereas they have a lot of shenanigans going on right under their nose
