Ambiance, food, service everything here is a 10/10. No pictures can do it justice!!! I am definitely returning. Please treat yourself to this place, you wont regret it.Menu has a great variety of food, I wanted to order a lambshank but they were all out as it is a favorite so I went for their specialty steak which was cooked to absolute perfection. I also love how the tip is included so I neednt calculate it, unless one would like to give extra, of which the waiters definitely deserve as they go above and beyond.

Their service and their food was just perfect. The staff is so friendly and made us feel at home, we had gone for my friends birthday dinner and enjoyed every part of it.

Upon walking to set upto document a wedding registration, I was greeted by Marge who was pleasant and ever ready to help. The restaurant is clean, Covid friendly, and just a class on its own. We were offered to use almost their entire restaurant to capture images for our clients. A great experience and we will be sure to visit again.

We had very good service from Sandile. The food was everything. Ordered the Steak, Was absolutely fabulous. Biegnet Balls as entrees beautiful as well. Ambience on a 100. Really lovely experience

Ambience was ahsixk. Waiter was excellent. Attention to detail. The food was amazing and worth the price. The manager was attentive and made it a personal experience for us... I would have liked a quieter setting if I could add a suggestion.

The service was kind of weird. When we booked we were told strictly elegant dress but half the patrons were in slops. The first waiter took a drink order for 3/6 people at the table and sprinted away. The 2nd waiter was hailed and wanted me to shout my order across the table until I called him over to me. Then only a third came with a notepad to take our drinks order. The food was over seasoned. Dont imagine your salad will be a regular portion.There was nice music and the decor is pretty.

I recently celebrated my sons birthday at Umhlanga Cafe la Plage and everyone loved the place! I highly recommend this restaurant. The interior is gorgeous, the service is friendly and the food is delivered with attention to detail. Well done to Marge, Julia and rest of the team for the excellent service. Cafe la Plage is loved by the whole family and made our celebrationsa memorable one.

Service was excellent! Our waiter, Cyril was attentive and helpful. He made us feel very welcome and he was knowledgeable on the menu. The ambience and views were heavenly but the food was extremely overpriced for such blandness and tastelessness. The process for walk-in patrons was tedious and over the top for such an empty restaurant. Disappointed to say the least, but theres room for growth.

Celebrated my daughters birthday at this place. When i compare to the pics this women Marge posts its far better than what we experienced. We even requested to take some pics on the golden display of sofas and chairs but was refused. Disgusting Place. Not was also dam expensive but tastless. Will never recommend to anyone. Beautiful setup but disgusting staff especially that blond women.

La Plage is absolutely perfect in every way... From waiters there was on their beat, very very service minded and smiling to kitchen staff who prepared delicious and tasty food. Dont forget to visit their toilet and stroll around the restaurant. Stunning stunning stunning. Stylish, alive and amazing place.

We booked for lunch celebrating 1 day anniversary, our waiter Redolf was phenomenal and knowledgeable about the menu. Marge came to our table and she was very warm. The food was excellent and service was superb. I will strongly recommend this gem.

We celebrated a shared wedding anniversary with another awesome couple, our 9th and their 10th! The staff were absolutely fantastic! From Norman, whos knowledge of the menu was on point, to Denise and Marge B who ooze warmth and hospitality in buckets, they made it a memorable experience that well always hold fondly! I was fortunate enough to be back the following evening with a few friends who happen to be quite important in on the Durban landscape and the service definitely measured up to the previous nights experience! The staff definitely make you feel special and work together like a well oiled machine! On the second night we met the bar manager, Vincent, who presented us with a smooth 15 year old The Glenlivet and also have us a tour of the VVIP room which is available for private events and will add that pizzazz to your event. Well definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. When we arrived we were greeted by a very snobby gentleman who asked us if we were sure we could afford eating at this place because people like Duduzane Zuma were regulars there. I mean, for crying out loud, we were there to enjoy a meal and be on our way, we couldn’t be bothered which celebrities graced the place with their presence. The food was okay but man was the gentleman RUDE. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, never going back.

Prime location yet mediocre at its best. The food took too long to arrive at our table yet we were one of the only two occupied tables in the whole restaurant. The fish was cold & rubbery, an absolute nightmare.You’re definitely paying for the excessively obnoxious decor that’s not worth the buck! However, the waiters were accommodating.This restaurant needs a serious revamp. You can’t charge premium prices with mediocre offerings in all aspects!

Beautiful setting and exceptional service! The food is great and the location is in heart of Umhlanga, just a few steps from the famous pier. Amazing view. The vibe is great and if you’re in the mood party this is the place. Djs on deck and the drinks keep coming.

Quite a kitsch restaurant, caught between neon trendy and golden oppulence, fun but definately not classy. Good service, but we were 1 of only 2 occupied tables. Food was a mix; grilled octopus was delicious, fantastic flavour combos and just looked awesome to start, stuffed calamari was also good. I thought this would set the precedent, but boy was i wrong. The King prawn main was actually a few prince prawns, youd get better value elsewhere for R250 🤔 Unfortunately no tomahawk ribeye in stock, sucks because you research a menu and go there with a dish in mind, so ordered the sirlion special which was quite unremarkable (ordered medium rare, got raw, sent it back for correction and got well done). The apple tart dessert had promise, good presentation let down by undercooked (and possibly stale) phyllo pastry. The espresso crème brulee was also nothing special. All these meals would carry less criticism if it werent for the exorbitant prices. But lesson learnt, youre paying for the decor bill and not the quality of food. Couldnt have been an off day because like i say, only 2 tables occupied. Even our waiter suggested maybe the chef needs to be retrained. Pity, because that octopus was so damn good 🐙

Had the most disappointing experience here. The staff was rude and snobbish. The waiter looked like the most stuck up, unhappy man in the room. The owner was really unpleasant as well. While the place is beautiful, the staff is cold and unwelcoming. It was like they almost looked down on my friends and I (for reason unknown to us) . The food was relatively good. Unfortunately, it isnt a place Id give a second chance to nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

We were greeted by a group of energetic waitresses and waittrons, one that especially stood out was Sibo who ensures we receive five start service by giving us good detail of the restaurant, its ownership and all else related. He was very professional and gave the recommendation on what to order: Great service! Great atmosphere and venue.We will definitely return soon!

Atmosphere and vibe was awesome but food was very disappointing. My friends and I ordered the steak milignon, medium...was overdone. Ordered additional mushroom sauce which was watery and very distasteful. As we waited for our food for quite some time, we ate it anyway, being hungry, but brought our issues to the concerns of the managers on duty....for which one of them responded to she wont blame us if we didnt come here again...but...! ...without us even saying that we wouldnt go there. Being in the customer service industry, its certainly not the way to deal with dissatisfaction. Just wanted the full package of absolute awe hence we chose a ladies night to one of umhlangas high profile restaurants for a first time experience...for which I may add is known for their fine dining. In addition, although we prebooked, the original order for shanks and leg of lamb was out of stock...and we were told to order our food in advance upon booking as they only cater for certain quantities of their foods on the menu...which has no mention of when the booking was done. Our waiter messed up our starter order as well. Really unimpressed!

Celebrated my birthday there.. the staff went over & above what was requested & provided an awesome table setting...food was divine, service was impeccable, staff was very friendly, accommodating & even walked us back to our cars with umbrellas in the pouring rain!

This place is terrible! I came back from the beach and wanted to have a sun downer so I went there but I wasn’t allowed because there is a dress code! Do they really expect us to wear heels and fancy dresses to the beach? Wouldn’t recommend

Food was horrible, orderd lamb shank which was tough, other half orderd their famous chicken pasta which had extra salt. Not my first choice of places to dine out.Ok and it gets worse.... desert has been ordered, creme brulee, chocolate brownie with ice cream and chocolate cake.....The creme brulee is the worse I have eaten, still smells like egg. Chocolate brownie was a stale price of chocolate cake with sauce. The chocolate cake was ok.Service at this establishment was excellent, the lady that waited my table was first class.

My experience at cafe la place is always different but fantastic. lately Hubby called in and booked a dinner for 2....my my my my.they went all out to make it special, I was impressed, more especially while we going through a pandemic. the standard is still there, very classy with few people. I miss staying there till late but we had to be out before 9pm. really had an amazing time.

Looks the part but was really average. Had the mushroom ravioli starter which was good but overcooked. Ribeye was ordered medium rare but arrived rare, was sent back to the kitchen and returned to me still nowhere near medium rare. The steak also lacked any kind of seasoning.The live band set up is a really good idea poorly executed. Music was really overpowering making it impossible to have a conversation without the need to raise my voice.This restaurant has a lot of potential but needs more care and excellence.
