@1000hillschefschool is situated in Botha’s Hill overlooking the magnificent 1000 Hills Valley.Their fine dining restaurant and bistro-style deli are the practical training ground for their students. Here they practise serving and preparing both food and beverages for paying guests while still enjoying the safety of a school environment. They explore trends and focus on seasonal ingredients, with input to their menus that are revised each term. @1000hillsbrewery

Wow wow wow! This place was a culinary experience like no other. From their fresh food bursting with divine flavours to the views and the service, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The food was so good we came back to enjoy it two days in a row.Thank you to the owner Desiree for her kindness and Chef Lindelwa, Chef Sizwe and Chef Martin for the warm welcome and excellent food!If youre in the area, you absolutely have to visit 1000 Hills Chef School. You will not regret it.

I came here first about 5 years ago and was really impressed. Everything from the food to the view to the beer was superb. Alas, 5 years later and the more recent reviews on here rung true: the view is still great and beer is still excellent, but the service and food have begun to slide. We sat down for a nice lunch, but unfortunately both our food and the service left a bit to be desired. While we do understand that this is a training institution the prices being charged are for top notch food, so expecting a senior chef to at least check the food before it goes out doesnt seem like we are asking too much. The Chicken Parmesan was beyond tasteless with no cream or sauce anywhere to be found. The mixed berry spritzer was completely bland as well and the Pizzas, while nice, were unwisely put onto cold plates and where almost stone cold after just a few minutes. The waitress was also completely unfamiliar with the menu and at one time even told us that they had no soft drink (Which is why we ordered the mixed berry spritzer) only to see a different waiter bringing Cream Soda to the table next to us shortly thereafter. Its a great place, but just a little more oversight on their students would have transformed the experience entirely to the great time I remember from 5 years ago.

Had a wonderful experience here. The views are beautiful, the pizza was delicious and the drinks were amazing. We had a few unwelcome guests in the monkeys who just had to try our pizza, but the staff were very accommodating in helping us out. Craft beer tasting is also great.

Awesome food and environment, owner was very cool and hospitable and the chefs are very talented. I was also surprised to see that the restraint is pet friendly, was good to see some well manoured pets roaming around and enjoying a snack too. A special thanks to the Owner and the fellow customers for allowing us to get some drone shots!

Delicious food in a beautiful setting - best desserts I have had in ages! Only reason no 5 stars is that the wait service is done by trainee chefs, so can be a bit haphazard. But it’s friendly and welcoming, so imagine your favorite cook trying to wait tables. We thoroughly enjoyed it and the food is great value and lip smackingly good!

Saddened had a new trainee student of the chef school sent to our table to take an order who didnt know anything however there we were the first table to arrive at 9.10am and when ordering 1 of 2 tables present the group of waiters all standing outside talking etc but noone helping him(in the past a 2nd year would have shadowed them)Order Latte coffee asked me how i want my milk hot or cold.Forgot my latte till he walked back in and saw me looking at him he quickly went into the kitchen to get the latte by now froth disappeared and cooler able to drink in one go.Ordered an omelette filled with creamy mushroom Cost R74.00. Came with no garnish or anything just the omelette.I opened the omelette to add chilli sauce and noted it was completely dry no sauce only mushrooms thrown in.I asked for the menu showed the error and once again noone to assist he made of with my plate to the kitchenThe head chef obviously had not checked what the students had served. So when it went back into the kitchen i heard him saying come on guys what happened here. Finally after my husband had eaten my food arrived. I ended up leaving 3/4 it was teally bland and after all this left no desire to stay further and left.Used to love this venue was a real day out treat for us and we would stay here for hours. Often having both breakfast and lunch along with too many purchases from the school.

We used to eat here often before we turned vegan as it was always good food. Becoming vegan meant we could no longer eat there as they did not cater for us. After a break of a couple of years we decided to go again today just for a drink and maybe a plate of chips. We were pleasantly surprised to see vegan options on the menu, only 2 but that was fine. We ordered both to try and as usual we were not disappointed. The food was fresh tasty and served quickly. Would most definitely recommend eating here for vegans now. Besides the food the venue is always a pleasure with great views.

Embarrasing experience. We ordered two curries and after 20 minutes were told our food was on the way. Then a staff member/student arrived and informed us they had run out of rice and they would have to prepare it from start. We then said we would settle for their hake and chips. Ten minutes later we were informed they only had one hake left. My partner decided she would have a toasted sandwich and I will have the hake. Hake arrived in four pieces. I declined to accept it and asked it to be returned. A lady chef appeared and wanted to know what was wrong with the hake. I informed her that I was not going to accept what was obviously scraps of hake from the kitchen. We have been regular customers for more than four years and we have had mishaps before but had lived with it. Suffice to say we will not return.

We were welcomed on arrival by one of the students who showed us the various outdoor dining areas. Lovely tranquil place with scenic views of the 1000 Hills. Thando our waitress looked after us attentively. Lovely light meals on offer, food was top class, the Blue Cheese & Bacon Pizza was really scrumptious!

Tucked on the edge with incredible views of the valley this chefs school is a hidden gem.A good selection of menu options caters for most tastes. Food is well presented and wholesome with right mix of ingredients and well balanced. Service from chef school students is friendly and willing. An array of charcuterie, cheese, and ready made foods including bakery and craft beer all made on site is available. Pricing was fair. Highly recommended. Enjoy! 🍾

They provide top of the range food prepared freshly. They have a wide range of beverages including craft beers, wines and thick milkshakes among other things. The have both indoor options in regards to sitting. They have wonderful views that one can enjoy while one eats. They have a ecentric but loveable chef in training called Upenyu Chiororo who will make sure you enjoy your time there. The service provided is top notch. The staff are friendly and all facilities were clean. There was safe and secure parking. They accepted mutiple methods of payment.
