I only went to the Cats Coffee Cafe on site and my experience was good. The site is very clean and looks well organized. The Cafe is lovely and very clean. They do have kitties on site that roam freely and most can be found in the Cafe area. The cats do come for a pat and some do jump on the tables for treats so if you dont like that then rather opt for a take-away. Worth a visit to donate, enquire about volunteer opportunities, or make a purchase at the charity store. They also have a small nursery...something for everyone. MUST LOVE ANIMALS!

The center was far better than my hubby expected except after our last visit in adopting our lady fury family member the staff didnt seem too clued up in certain areas. Took us ages to confirm if a kitten we saw was really ready to be adopted or not then Ages again for the 1 lady who knew what was going on to return from her lunch breakAll in all glad to see how busy they were. What a lovely sight to see adoptions taking place especially in this lock down period. Thanks for all the great work to the staff.

I had the most awful experience with the spca today. I was given an appointment at 9 40 and continued to wait until 10:30. Whilst I was waiting another lady said that she also had an appointment at 9 40. How is it possible to give many people the same time. That was just the beginning. I continued to wait and a family whose dog was bleeding arrived and asked for help however they ignored the plea of that family. My 60 year old mother was told that she should not be asking for any other advice on the dog as she came for 1 aspect. Remember as a vet you chose your job so if you cant help people then dont even waste your time pretending that you are helping. A poor pup was put down because as a vet they didnt care enough to help. Also the lady working at the front cashier is extremely unfriendly and believes that she is doing us a favor. All I can conclude with is that if as a vet you cant be nice to people and their animals then I guess you need to seek another profession.

I visited the charity shop at the Durban SPCA. Was happy to see them receiving loads of donated goods. Hardworking volunteers sorted out the items in the sweltering heat, uncomplainingly. Inside the shop was another story. Goods were over priced and value for money. Disappointed withe unrealistic prices. However, the books were a real joy to browse through. If anything, a trip to the SPCA, is well worth it just to buys books. Good variety of books at lowest prices! R5 and R10 each!

To Whom it May ConcernGood EveningUpon arrival, after a tiring Christmas day, I was welcomed home by a lost and very sad kitten.Due to the fact that I have three cats already it would be impossible to keep this little one too.At Approximately 7pm I decided to drive to the SPCA IN Springfield Park knowing in my heart that I could return home with this little one once again. As we arrived there, a very friendly guard assisted us after hearing about our situation.HE checked our temperatures, sanitized, gave us some documents to fill in and asked us to drive through to the far end..Here too another warm and friendly guard directed us to a room.HE firstly got out a cage,A warm blanket,Offered us liquid hand wash, and disposable napkins..Whilst I was cleaning up my hands, I watched him graciously getting some soft food and something for the kitten to have as his Christmas dinner. This really warmed my heart as I am an animal lover and had no idea as to what the outcome would be.Im humbly grateful to these two wonderful trained guys that were so helpful and kind hearted.Especially with it been the evening of Christmas, everybody is now relaxing and rounding up the events of today.THANK YOU GUYS!!!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SPCA SITUATED IN SPRINGFIELD PARK, DURBAN.....You guys have proved to us that we can always rely and depend upon you at any given timeMay God Bless youETERNALLY!!!!!

When one looks at orphanages and old age homes, as well as other homes for the sick and disabled people, we all tend to have a sympathetic view of these places...But what about our animal shelters? Thousands of Rands pour into homes for humans, yet a home for these beautiful creatures gets overlooked by society. The work they do here is phenomenal, and they dont sit around feeling sorry for themselves. They have a charity shop where they sell donated goods to help find the running of the organization, as well as an on-site coffee shop and restaurant. They also accept public donations. The staff are real angels that walk among us. Sadly, this organization has to constantly hold out a begging bowl to keep afloat.I salute the staff and volunteers who run this organization. I would recommend to anyone, even if you are not an animal lover... To come see what they do here. Im sure it will be a life changing experience for you.

Very disappointed, adopted a dog from SPCA 4 months ago, dog got sick a few day ago, took her to the vet, no change to her condition, took her back to SPCA, hoping they could help or even know whats going on since we adopted the dog from them, was told they couldnt help at all and I should take the dog back to the vet, which I did.Im feeling like you guys are all smiles and happy when a dog gets adopted, which is good, but when an adoptive family needs help with the dog they adopted, its sorry we cant help, seriously.

I havent been around the entirety of the Springfield SPCA, but what I can say about the SPCA shop is that its a brilliant cause with almost every second hand item you could want, for dirt cheap prices with my most being in fairly great condition. The store is a little dusty, but luckily we all have to wear masks anyway so thats not a huge dilemma! I would highly recommend stopping here if youre looking for small items for your home, like dishes, photo frames, mats, and gardening products. They also have quite a large variety of books along with many other odds and ends (E.g. : Tupperware, cardboards, books, calendars, paper invitations, cutlery, teddy bears, suitcases, vintage and retro products like vinyls, and more). If you want these items you will have to go in and look around, youll most likely be able to buy them for next to nothing with the bonus of knowing all of the proceeds go towards caring for the animals of the SPCA. I highly recommend stopping by, especially to those whove just moved in to a new house and need some items to make it feel more like a home. Also, there is the option of donating old items to them, so if you havent done something kind as yet in 2020, please go on down to support the furry little angels! 🐾🐾🐾🐾Oh and enjoy your wonderful steals!

Went to collect dog that had been missing from home (mating season and neighbors called to be collected). Chipped dog so if ever it had to be picked up again would be easily traced to owner. Had to pay for it and the days dog had stayed in their shelter. Just happy to have pet home. Great initiative to adopt a dog where they even have a meet and greet with your own dogs to see if compatible/cordial. Not sure what other animals but think more dogs and maybe cats for adoption.

After 2 months of waiting I eventually got my call back. The male nurse or assistant that called me back was not interested in helping me. I have adopted dogs from the spca before. My intention was get a quote from the spca to neuter and spade my male and female puppies. And I wanted to make a donation to the spca over and above the charges for my pets. But Im sorry. The people working on your switch board were not willing to co operate or help me in any way. This isn’t the first unpleasant experience I had with the SPCA in general.1. Many years ago, my cat was really unwell, and the vet there told us she was pregnant. Few weeks later, my cat was literally dying, we took her back to the SPCA, turns out she had huge cyst that had to be removed. Operation did go well, and my cat did good after that. So for that, I thank the SPCA2. A few years ago, we phoned to inform them of 2 dogs being mistreated on our road. The response we got was that we should bring the dogs into our home and then call them. I wish I had the name of the person and the date we called, but unfortunately we do not.3. In the beginning of this month, my cat was really sick , and had a huge sore on her nose that was eating up her nose. Firstly, the vet that saw to her was so unprofessional, rude and uncaring. He barely even touched my cat. I was the one who had to feel her around and basically do the examination. He was also very unprofessional towards me. Told me things like “ cats are like seasons they come and go, one day they’ll be there with you and next they can die “ or he said “ You look like you cry a lot “. Asked me questions like “ Do you drink, smoke ? “His diagnosis was that my cat had an ulcer sore and was dehydrated. Gave her drips and antibiotics for a week and that was it.Few weeks later my cat was doing even worse. Took her to a private vet , and within an hour and a half of doing a skin test and some other tests , they found out it was cancer on the nose and what was more alarming to them was that her kidneys were failing.I understand that misdiagnosis can occur , but my cat was obviously severely ill and the cancer of the nose apparently is VERY common amongst cats. It baffles me how unbothered the vet was with her. Maybe if he actually took interest , and examined her, she would be here with me today. My mom is a monthly donor towards SPCA for years simply because we really wanted to help animals in need. It’s really disheartening that this particular vet did the opposite and was so unfazed by my sick cat.The private vet we took her to, charged almost the same amount , and was much more sympathetic, caring and interested in saving my cat.One thing I know for sure, if I ever get another pet, the SPCA will be the last place I’m taking her to.
