As part of our roadtrip, we ended day 6 here in Thornbay. We knew not to expect the city at the coast, therefor we loved what awaited us there. A apartment, with a most beautiful view over the ocean, clean, spacious and well designed, greeted us. The friendliness of those we met there, the assistance, advice and open hearts, assured us that this was meant to be part of our memorable trip. A wine tasting in the harbour at Fryers Cove, yes, one of a kind, pleasantly surprised us. Even though i loved the Shiraz, Petro enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc variety on offer(their speciality). The different taste thereof(some even salty) were unique and tasty. The most beautiful sunset, waves breaking and quietness as night falls, were the perfect recipe for a wonderful nights rest. To those involved, thank you, you make Thornbay proud. If God permits, soon we will return. Blessings. (Petro and Bertus)

Michelle runs a top self catering operation.You cannot get closer to the sea and sunsets are spectacular. Nothing is too much for Michelle to assist and keep her guests happy.

Only a few rooms have a view towards the ocean. Ours had a view to a water tank and everybody can see inside. It was tiny and the furniture looks like from a childrens room.The personal was very unfriendly. Further the WLAN is incredible expensive there, you pay for every 100 MB.The location is quite good, but the accommodation not worth a visit.

Really great view of the rocky bay! The rooms are fully equipped and comfortable! You cant get closer to the sea than this in Doornbaai and the fishery is really well stocked even in the off season!

Stunning views overlooking the harbor. Clean, yet tiny well equipped units. Watching your favorite tv channels is a nightmare as the remote is kept in the office and channels are changed at the owners grandkids discretion.

Accommadation and location wise its the best at the west coast. The owners and staff is always friendly and the fishing tackel / bait shop is on the premises .

This was the best place to stay this far. Excellent view from Dorado, the unit we stayed in. It’s very very clean and the unit was beautifully decorated with ocean- and sea-like decorations. The owners were friendly and very helpful. It was such a bonus that there were a braai area. To look over the sea with a class of the local wine was absolutely superb. We will certainly come here every December vacation.

Outstanding friendly service! Thornbay has the best views in Doringbaai as it is in prime position, a stones throw away from the beach and beautiful scenery. The sunsets are a must see! We had a lovely Afternoon tea and cakes with champagne as our sundowner :) which Thornbay provided. worth every penny loved the whole experience.
