Great views from the viewing point. Close to amenities by car, unless you like a good walk. About 2-3km walk to beach and for a coffee at the nearest cafe. Was there on the weekend though and its loud, like proper party, weekend festival. Like bring ear plugs day and night kind of disruptive!

If you want a home away from home, Chakas Rock Chalets is the perfect choice. Privacy, cleanliness, an amazing spa, perfect location and closeness to most amenities. Been there more than 4 times in 2 months and it still feels like the first time. I hope in the near future, they consider a restaurant or even a kitchen that will do homey foods that can be delivered to the chalets.

Would NOT recommend staying here. The facility is filthy, the rooms need a lot of maintenance and have not been looked after. The kids play area is so run down and is literally falling apart. The FOH staff promise to move you to a better room, yet nothing ever happens. They inflate their prices excessively over peak periods and it’s honestly not worth it. I will NEVER come back to this ‘resort’ again.

The chalets are gorgeous and well furnished. It feels like a luxurious flat/ apartment inside. The backyard has a view of the beach and jungle gyms for young children. The area is a short drive away from Ballito Junction and Ballito Lifestyle Centre. The beach is a walk. Cleaning is amazing. The area is quiet and safe. Parking is available inside the facility. A great experience overall.

Would not recommend. Facilities were faulty or out of order. Rooms were decent. But the let down was from other guests behaving unruly, having EXTREMELY loud parties and music on either sides of us. Shouting between rooms after midnight. Parties continuing until all hours. Beer bottles, drink cups etc strewn over my apartments outside table, as well as said neighbours placing their washing lines (with only their underwear on it) right in front of my verandah and blocking my entrance into my apartment. Also helping themselves to the set of chairs on my apartments patio so we had no where to sit. Extremely disappointed as welcome booklets state the rules as well as a R1000 fine, however I saw none of these guests receiving such fines. Will never recommend and will never stay again.

Nightmare weekend at this resort. Arrived on Friday evening to find a party.going strong at the pool area. This carried on until 3am. On Saturday afternoon this continued and we were saved by a massive downpour that forced the drunken lot indoors on Sunday the noise.startes again at the pool from 11am and has continued unabated - it is now 21h00 and the inconsiderate lot are screaming and shouting. Not recommended! The place was not clean had a terrible odor in the chalet , we requested the cleaning service for every day as they displayed and confirmed the lady came in twice Monday and Wednesday their excuse was due to retrenchment because of COVID hence the limited staff. I basically had to sterilize the place myself so that we could live in it for the week . The oven was filthy and had previous Holiday makers food left on the trays. Disgusting to say the least! The response will be generic to this review and the author will comment and say they will improve the service and would like us revisit the resort personally feel that the photos are deceiving and is not a true reflection on the resort, I will be sending an email to my time share to complain about the horrible and terrible stay at this resortWill not recommend this resort to anyone at all😡

Overall the stay was decent. Not bad for a weekend stay. However there are some concerns.Loud music from half past 7 till after 22:00 with people sceaming while partying and drinking. The security tries to tell the guest to be quiet, however the guest dont care because it is before 10pm. However the rules explicitly states no unruly behavior or loud music. With a fine of R1000Theres a saying if you dont take action with the stated rules, people will continue to abuse them. Thats most likely why this is an continued problem here.24hr reception advertised, but closed at night.Tv in the room was not working.Mold on the walls.Bathroom tap loose.Fire blanket missing.Swimming pool pump is very noisy at night.Aircon stopped working, with a gas leak.On Bookings.com beachfront is advertised, this is accross the road, my definition of beachfront does differ from theirs...This is definitely not for the people seeking a quiet and peaceful time..

Our family occupied units 19 & 21 for the period 26 March - 2 April 2021. We have been going to the resort for the past 30 years and it was absolutely shocking to see how it has been neglected over the past 2 yearsDespite several emails since 6 April to First Resorts, First exchange & Management at the resort, no response has been received.1) Neither of the two units were ready to be occupied by the communicated time of 15:002) Neither of the two units were clean3) Poorly equipped kitchen - most of the kitchen utensils seem to have disappeared over the years. There is hardly a complete set of anything (glasses, crockery or cutlery)4) Microwave (unit 21) - old, dirty & shouldve been replaced years ago5) Oven (unit 21) - no oven racks, no oven tray & the numbers on the knobs where one sets the oven temperature, has completely vanished over time6) Dishes, crockery & cutlery had pieces of fat & leftover food on it. We had to wash everything in the kitchen ourselves before we could use it7) Almost every kitchen floor tile is chipped or cracked8) In unit 19 we had to remove hair from the bath. A used mask & some toys are only some of the items that were left behind by the previous occupants & not disposed of by the cleanersUnit 21 - Urine splashes on the toilet seat & floor, bath dirty, light switches & door handles filthy9) The waste bin in unit 21s bathroom was badly rusted & the lid broken off. We reported this to reception and this was at least replaced with a new plastic bin during our stay8) Unit 21 - No TV in the main bedroom, just a notice to say sorry for the inconvenience9) Unit 21 - Air conditioner in unit 21 not in working condition. We reported this twice and when we inquired when this would be attended to, we were told maybe within the next day or 2. After 2 days someone was sent to check the a/c & we were told they couldnt repair the unit as the fan motor had to be replaced & they had to get authorization first. Needless to say, no further attention was given to the air conditioner and it remained in a non-working state for the rest of our stay10) The couches, cushions, curtains and doors in both units are in a run-down condition and are also dirty, torn & stained/marked11) Staff members were generally unfriendly & especially reception staff were abrupt and not interested to assist at all. The person (manager) on duty (unfortunately I didnt get her name), was busy typing a message on her phone and couldnt be less interested. The receptionist said she would report the a/cMy son who occupied unit 19, sent an email on the 27th March, complaining about the state of the unit as well as the lack of cleanliness of the unit & no one even bothered to acknowledge receipt of the email or to address the issues at handAlthough there is a huge sticker on every units sliding door boasting Pristine Purpose Cleaned, Covid protocols didn’t appear to be followed at all. Except for a container with hand sanitizer in each unit, I am of the opinion that through the lack of cleanliness of units & the obvious disregard of hygienic practices, staff are not only devaluing the resort, but are also playing with the health of people, especially during the current pandemic where special emphasis should be placed on cleanliness and hygiene.I hope you will regard my complaint in a very serious light and take the necessary steps to ensure that Chakas Rocks Chalets up their game and that it is reinstated to the clean, well-kept & family-friendly resort it has been for many years.

The place is okay. Maintenance has been non existent. A family member was surcharged R600 right before payment and no one can tell us why or get us refunded. The toilet was slightly leaking and flooding the bathroom, their solution was to put a bath towel under it for our entire stay. Everything that can rust in the place is rusted, even the Dstv plug adapter. Clean towel provided wasn’t so clean. The cleaners don’t do a very good job. After pointing out that there are hand prints on the wall in the bedroom (I wonder why..) the cleaners still did not remove them. Otherwise the place is close to some nice small beaches and is overall central to malls/ballito.

On arrival at 13h00 yesterday, 8 March 2021, the reception lady went to see if our unit was ready, came back and told us it will only be ready at 15h00 which we could understand. At 15h00 the reception gave us our packet with keys for the unit and said it was ready. When we got to the unit, all the dirty bedding were on the floors. The floors, kitchen and bathroom were still dirty, so the unit was not cleaned at all. After calling a couple of times, the cleaning lady came out of the toilet and said she was not suppose to clean that unit for that day. Why didnt the supervisor follow up to see if the unit was cleaned before they send us there. They had to run around to find us another unit. I get the feeling that management is slack. In the new unit there was no inventory form. There were 2 teaspoons missing, 1 desert spoon and 4 tea cup saucers. There were no soup/porrige bowls in the kitchen. No ice trays in the freezer. No dish cloths and swabs. Toaster not working. I will definately sort this out today as I am not going to be charged for the stuff that was supposed to be in the unit. No facial towels or floor towel in the bathroom. Bath and wall tilesin a terrible state. TV in the bedroom not working. Grass outside the unit not cut for a long time. Black Lable tins and plastic cold drink bottles lying outside on the grass. No porters/trolleys were available. No communication about the cleaning services. A resort cant be run out of a office, management must be on the floor. I will definately not recommend this place.

Chakas Rock Chalets is a true case of you get what you pay for which is low for the area. At R900 a night for a six sleeper (I would not reccommend the unit for more than 4 people) its on the cheaper side which is fabulous, but know you are signing up for the basics.Small details are missing here, however one can not help but feel a little nostalgia when walking through the post Covid scenarios of the venue, for a time where you can imagine the place teaming with life. Reminisce over holidays with mom cooking and cleaning and packing sarmies for the beach as dad stokes the fires for tonights braai and you will be setting yourself up for this experience. The chalets are simple, yet clean. Ceiling fans in each room will help us vaalies to lounge around. Like daisies to the sun, so will you be with the fan. Thank goodness for the aircon in the main bedroom (but you will probably have to get get the remote from reception as there wasnt one on arrival.) The lounge area is comfortable and the outside braai and patio (of fair size) gave us beautiful sea views. Neighbors are well spaced out and it is lovely and quiet. The pool is beautiful and the general gardens are well maintained. The linnen is crisp and the beds are comfortable. Need washing done? No problem. Hand a load of washing to the cleaning staff and it comes back super quick and beautifully cleaned for R50. It is also a stone throw away from the beach. Overall, a beautiful little unit. What you need to know:Bring your own dish soap, dish towels and cleaning stuff. The units are not serviced daily but they also didnt give us anything to clean with. Not even a broom for the first 5 days. (Also no dishwasher so get those hands ready for some serious washing, mom)Dont forget TP. We got 1 roll for the week. The bath is small and doubles up as a shower so its gets a bit messy but the water pressure is great. Bring your own floor towels as none were provided (we got one only in the last 3 days). Also arrived to no hand towels.I am not sure why the TV is missing from the main bedroom but if they dont want to put tvs there, they can at least take down the giant TV rack. The double bed for 2 adults is very snug. The little things:Want to play chess? Sorry for you, its missing pieces. My poor 10 year old was bleak as this was a selling point for her.Trampoline is missing springs. Little bit scary for parents of the very little ones. There is free wifi apparently, but no one gives you the password. Again, kids were a little bleak.Small things like reception giving you the wifi password from the start and an aircon remote and little touches are needed at this venue to just give it that edge.In saying all of the above, on arrival I asked to upgrade to a 3 bedroom unit as the units are quite small. There were none available but we did get the chance to view one and it is DOUBLE the size of the six sleeper. I would have paid 3 times more if I knew how lovely the 3 bedroom units are. If you are going to stay here with a family (even of 4) and you like a little space, I would reccommend you pay the extra for a bit more space, bigger kitchen and more bathrooms. The bigger units are stunning!

Units have everything, you just have to bring food and clothes. Theres a tuck shop, a spa within the premises. What a disappointing experience! The rooms were neat and basic. However, the DSTV did not work for the entire time we were there. Despite reporting this to reception on several occasions, it was never fixed. This makes traveling with toddlers difficult in such a small abode. We were due to stay for 3 nights. On the first night, there were some people playing a noisy game of soccer on the tennis courts right outside our flat until well past 11pm. Then on Saturday afternoon, a group headed down to the pool for a birthday party at about 3pm. These drunken louts made a HUGE racquet throughout the night waking up most of the guests at the resort. They were still drinking and playing music at 6am in the morning with bodies littered around the pool where some of the party goers passed out. We couldn’t sleep at all. There was a filthy mess with glass bottles and litter everywhere. Security did absolutely nothing about it and it would have been foolish of me to approach these drunkards alone given the loud and abusive language coming from the pool area. I can see why Chaka’s Rock Chalets is a destination of choice for these type of people as there are no rules and regulations in place or imposed by the Management. Needless to say, we left a day early despite having paid already. We didn’t see chance for another night in this place with such terrible fellow guests and the apathy shown by security and the management.

The accommodation of the units at the front is really comfortable and of good size. However, this was totally overshadowed by the fact that maintenance lack, even after months if lockdown, nothing was maintained. Our kettle was broken, had to ask twice for a replacement, no DSTV with us receiving a decoder two days latter after I had to almost threaten the staff in the office. There was a kiddies birthday party at the pool on the Saturday, although no kids were present. Adults were in the pool with glasses of wine, bottles of beer, getting to a point that us and other people with kids had to leave to pool area. It developed into a shebeen party with drunk people trying to play and high-five small children. Security or office staff were nowhere to be seen. People passed out around the pool and was still lying around the pool on Sunday at 06:00, while other were still continuing with the party. People in that area of the property decided to cut their holiday short and left.I am a Premium Private Resort member. Yes, we normally book in Ballito, but since we decided a bit late to go away for a week, this was the only place still available, I now know why.I would have thought that resorts will put there best foot forward post the lockdown to retain visitors. This one failed miserably, I am also cutting my holiday short. I will strongly advise against staying here, unless managent get their act together and fast.I will not recommend this to anyone

Nice for a family getaway, with lots of facilities, especially for the kids. Well kept and maintained. Rooms are fairly small but has everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. Great place, the staff were very pleasant and attentive. We enjoyed the scenery and I must admit that when I went in, I had prepared for almost everything, having carried everything from pots to cutlery. I then found myself amazed by the level of equipment the place offered. The only supplies we actually needed to carry were food and a bit of toiletries.Space is in abundance and cleanliness left nothing to be desired. The rooms were very neat and beds were comfy. The shower was a bit small for me, but I think it would be just fine for most people. The view of the sea was excellent and I like the fact that each unit has its own dedicated parking space. The activities on offer are quite nice, although we did not partake in them.If youre considering this spot as your next destination, I would advise you carry all consumables one would need for cooking and perhaps items to quench your thirst.Other than that, very nice and if I really have to be annoying and look for a fault... Ummm... There were a few small chips on the tiles...

Lots of activities to do such as putt-putt, squash, tennis, hiking, etc. Was Indeed an amazing experience, one worth coming back for. Just one downside, check out time of 9 o clock is too early.
