We had a 3GB 4G SIM on our first ever South Africa trip and that always seemed to lead us to good places to eat, drink coffee or stay. The Trading Post was perfect for lunch on our journey between Graaff-Reinet and Oudtshoorn. Greeted by an extrovert host we had a delightful light lunch with 50cl of rosé in the lovely open area out the back. I also moved the place on Google maps - it had been the other side of the road.

Great little stop with a chilled nursery/garden

Quaint coffee shop in the heart of Dr Rust. The setting is cosy with a warm fire. There is a garden and a pub if you prefer. The coffee is good and the menu has a fair selection. I found the pricing reasonable for the portion received. The service was quick and friendly. There is also a small curio shop with interesting items.

What an absolutely incredible place!! Friendly hosts, beautiful place, and the food was out of this world! Maybe the best omelette Ive ever had, definitely the best chocolate cake EVER!! I dont know of a place in Gauteng that comes close to this gem of a place.

A great place for a light meal. Kids had deliscious burgers and we had very tasty chicken mayo toasties. Good meat, real chicken, homemade breads, and all by a lovely warm fire with peaceful music. Good value for money as well. Nice little jeweler and home goods gift shop too. Thumbs up!

I dont think that there was ever a little eating spot that impressed me more...the tranquility, hospitality, frièndliness...and the FOOD...no words, you have to try it for yourself.

A must stop spot if you need a bite to eat in De Rust. Top notch food and coffe and the little courtyard at the back is a cool sanctuary on a hot klein karoo day. Check out the gift shop at the back for some unique items.

I had one of the best omelettes that Ive ever had there this morning. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Nice patio in the back! Friendly owner. Food was underwhelming: the pasta bolognaise tasted like bbq sauce and sugar and the chicken salade was also really sugary. Also service was not good: we had to ask for our own knife and fork, and the waitress didnt really speak to us. Maybe it was just a 1 time bad experience, however, cause the other reviews for this place are pretty good.

Definitely a rare gem we stumbled upon on our trek through the Karoo. Exceeded our expectations with the vibrant ambience and quality of the food and service.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here on our way from Addo to Calitzdorp. The garden in the back as well as the village bazaar shop were a lovely surprise. The food was the best lunch we have had so far in the Western Cape. Try the mince pancake and the roosterkoek!

We had the pleasure of staying over at Niekies awesome self-catering accommodation last night. Self-catering does not sound grand enough for the room we had, with a queen size brass bed and shower big enough for two. There was a small infinity pool next to our patio, which opened on to a view of the hillside. It is both quirky in its decor, and supremely comfortable and clean at the same time. Niekie runs a restaurant just down the street from the accommodation - you can find it by looking for the rusty rooster which stands proudly outside the restaurant. He made us a special vegan breakfast with spinach, chickpeas, patty pans, sun-dried tomatoes, caramelised onions and lots of herbs, together with homemade bread. It was the best breakfast of our trip so far. This is probably the best restaurant in De Rust!
