An interesting tour. Guide was very informative. Safety first and you have a chance to buy a stone from the source.

Fantastic underground tour! George, our tour guide, has been working at the mine for 40 years and has excellent experience and knowledge.

I was extremely disappointed with the underground tour. George, our tour guide, was extremely grumpy and not people friendly at all. He was whispering ag yisis under his breath whenever we didnt understand anything. I would rather go with the surface tour. Our surface tour guide was much more friendly and I learnt more with the surface tour than with the underground tour... The underground tour was also cut an hour short for some reason?

These folks really were a great help. My travel into Pretoria was delayed and they helped me move my tour to the next day.The tour itself was great. Seeing a working diamond mine is incredibly cool and a rare opportunity. Guide was incredible. Worked in the mine for over three decades and incredibly knowledgeable. Also the humor and good spirit that he injected into the tour was fantastic. The underground mine portion was incredible. Highly recommend the tour, make sure to book ahead!

It was really great getting the opportunity to do the underground tour. We kind of booked last minute but the staff were very friendly and willing to assist. You could see that they really know their stuff and show a lot of passion for their job, so the tour was very interesting. Unfortunately since it was on a public holiday the mine was busy with some maintenance work so we couldnt complete the full tour. But the organizers made up for it by giving us a bit of a surface level tour for free.

Went there for a school excursion, very interesting and it taught me a lot about the history of that mine.Unfortunately we didnt get to go inside the mine which was truly disappointing for all of us and we had a good time afterwards at the restaurants but the service was really bad because one of us didnt get our order and we had to leave before we could eat.

Wow! Wow! Wow! To understand the history and economy of South Africa, this tour is a must. Our remarkable guide, Lee, had 40years work experience in this very unique place. There was no question, economic geographical, technical or mining related, that he could not answer. Lee is complete fundi , as we say in SA, and a real asset to this tour company. It is hard to describe what it feels like to be underground: a secret city of vast airy caverns, criss-crossed with narrow guage railway lines and everywhere echoing with the beeps and bangs of production. It was not claustrophobic but you need a medium level of fitness for a good amount of walking in full mine gear. Its a bucket list adventure and worth every penny. My only criticism was the mess of overalls and muddy socks and shoes left in the change room from a tour the day before. It made a very bad impression at the start of what turned into a fabulous four hours

Firstly I must say Cullinan Diamond mine itself is a must see. The guy at reception is very rude to begin with.We do our booking through the internet. And actually there is 2 different tour companies but only 1 of them got authority to go undermine. But that was sorted out. The tour guide didnt introduce himself so we dont know the old guys name. The whole tour was like running around from one side to another,he didnt explain to the group what is actually going on or interact with the group. If we ask questions we didnt get proper answers. He is a very grumpy old man. Sadly we visited the mine but I think you will learn more from Google, than the tour itself.I truly think the money you spend is not worth the tour experience.

How wonderful to be able to see a real working mine, made possible by a retired mining guy who could make it safe and share his knowledge - a really fabulous tour.

Something different for the kids to see. You can only do the surface tour with young kids - you need to be over 16, to be allowed on the underground tour. The initial exhibit area is a bit eclectic and neglected. The guide was helpful and engaging. Once youve entered the mine (in an open Safari viewing vehicle), you may not exit the vehicle. Security is their biggest concern. You drive by the old industrial units, hear about the new units, and drive near to the edge of the enormous open cast scar of a mine - its wide and deep ! The kids were given little pieces of processed kimberlite to play with (so they could hunt their own diamonds), and they got to see a resin model of the uncut Cullinan diamond. Overview: the tour is a somewhat interesting diversion for a couple of hours, worth doing if your say based in the local area, but I wouldnt rate it as a must do if youre a normal tourist coming from afar.

Visit Cullinan diamond mine is definitely worth it. Guided tours start with some history and then show you everything from the mine. Nice view of the diamond pit. Outside at the entrance there are several small cozy restaurants. There is a shop to buy a diamond ring on site and the grinding process can be viewed from behind glass. If you live in South Africa, they will later deliver the finished diamond to your home! Recommended!
