Heard about this place and made it a must. Beautiful interior. Big variety of cakes to choose from. The takeaway hot drink were little bit smaller than expected but Still tasted marvelous. Previously loved books are available to buy that is still in a good condition. If you like old stuff you will appreciate the old tins. Super pretty and all in good to semi-good condition.There are even indoor plants if you are looking to green your house.Would definitely recommend.

Me and my partner started in November going there for brunch. Menu is great, staff friendly. And I like the overall feel of the Coffee shop. Its unique and there is nothing like it in Colesberg period!!

What a nice jewel. Had a great stop on a long journey,good coffee (Ice coffee also delicious!!) Lots of stuff to see and buy. Their waffles and ice-cream....yum!!!

I really enjoyed the pancakes from 1989 on Friday. The staff was friendly and my husband and I also enjoyed the lamb pie and asian veg and beef wrap. The presentation was great and food was delicious. Well done and keep up the good standard. More pancakes in the near future please!

Excellent food! Chef Juanita is a master in the kitchen. The restaurant is beautifully furnished and decorated. The staff were so friendly and even started a crackling fire to keep us warm. Highly recommended!!!

We decided to go off the N1 during our roadtrip to eat something light at Colesberg. Driving through the town, Nineteen Eighty Nine immediately caught our eye. From the outside it looked safe, clean and inviting. It was a gem inside, with well chosen decor items, books and more. The menu was tasty and absolutely good value for money. Definitely worth it, to turn into Colesberg.

What a gem we discovered in Colesberg! Excellent, friendly service, a great breakfast and lunch menu with a wonderful choice of coffees to choose from. Various items for sale in the shop, that will easily compete with interior design shops in the big centres . A lovely selection of plants for sale too. I would recommend giving thw petrol station shops a miss on the N1 and popping in here for a wholesome meal instead.

What a gem! We had the most delicious chicken salad, made with fresh crunchy ingredients. It was a hot windy day outside and we enjoyed the beautiful interiors and aircon. We are always looking for places with pouring cream for our coffee, and whalla, they had! Well worth the turn off from the N1.

Was ok, better than a garage.

Very bad expierience. Waited for an hour for our breakfast. Only 7 people in shop. When 3 of us food arrive my wife had to wait another 15min for her food. Our food was also cold. I had to pay the full bill without a sorry. Please stay away if you on the road.

So many people stop at the awful Colesburg Wimpy and have NO IDEA that this gem is just a block away. Best place to get gifts, books, amazing coffee and the best breakfast in Colesberg. Worth the detour!

What a wonderful place for lunch. Service was attentive and quick. The food was Karoo style and delicious. I recommend the pickled fish. Traditional and tasty

My first time experience, a special find in the Karoo. I love my coffee and a jolly good one at that. 1989 ticked all the boxes, from medium, rich and smooth with no bitter after tast.The froth on top is as important as the coffee itself. That was a winner too.So sad to experience,my last couple of pop-ins the froth has lost its creamy smooth topping😓

Such a cosy pleasant atmosphere. No service and tables not clean 😕 only one person on the floor at 9am for breakfast travelers.

Wish we found this place sooner. Beautiful French themed cafe, gorgeous food and cakes to die for. Wish I had taken pics of the food but it was devoured instantly.

Food was delicious, portions more than generous and items very well priced.As an added bonus they have GF breakfast options, which is hard to come by.Well definitely visit again!

The quiche was so bad and old that I will be having nightmares about it. The chips was good though

Clean, with nice decor and the cakes and sweet treats looked delicious. Unfortunately we really (sho and I am actually very patient) waited quite a while for our coffees and take aways, and one of the orders werent correct - which we only realised in the car as we were in a bit of a hurry. However, the portions were very generous and well priced. Food was aslo delicious and you could tell that a lot of effort goes into the meals. Some other criticism that I had is that the hot drinks were served without sugar / honey and something to stir with - making customers very dependent on the waiters who were already very busy. Maybe not the right place for a quick pit stop, but I am more than sure that the food and drinks are always lovely for a longer more relaxed visit.

Really Good food and Milkshakes, value for money. Ordered Fish with chips and salad, all really well done, Milkshake was creamy and smooth. Not fast food but really nice meal.

Absolutely delicious food. I had mince and Vetkoek and it was to die for. My hubby had the beef burger which he says was better than the Hilton in Durban. A must if you visit Colesberg

I can’t rave enough about your establishment! We were in a terrible pickle and came to seek refuge from the heat while we tried to solve a mountain of problems. Not only was the food delicious, the milkshakes yummy and the service friendly, but your waiting staff went above and beyond to assist. Shadé in particular was a life saver and deserves a raise!!

The best coffee in Colesberg, attentive service - cakes good for sweet mouths and the usual combination of drinks, frills and homemade pastries - to be enjoyed outdoors in the shade or indoors in bad weather or high heat - however, the cake biscuit offer is too sweet for me - but for those who like it, a little oasis
