Was there for a weekend with 4 adult children (attended a wedding on Saturday and used the cottage as a base) - peaceful location and the cottage was VERY well equipped. Also the hot tub! Safe in a fenced area, with alarm system. Excellent cottage with all you need to enjoy a great rest and escape from city life. TV with basic channels. We hooked up the laptop to stream the rugby - with the free wi-fi - with a HDMI cable on the big TV. Huge indoor braai plus outdoor braai. Ample wood was available (two bags free, then at reasonable price for more) for the tub and braai (including Blitz and starter wood!) Also enjoyed a leisurely walk amongst the fynbos. 3 longer walking trails also available on the farm. In short - we enjoyed quality family time in excellent facilities and environment. Friendly hosts Marianka and Harry popped in to meet and greet as we were previously at their equally great house in Cape Agulhas. They certainly know what theyre doing in providing this special accommodation. One negative - we had to return to the city:-( So, well have to return!

We just spent three nights at Steenbok Farm Cottages and had a lovely, relaxing stay. Our cottage (Steenbok) was tastefully decorated. Clearly someone has put a lot of love into this project. There is a wooden deck with a KolKol hot tub on one side of the cottage, which enjoys views across the Tulbagh valley and is best enjoyed at sunset. Can watch impala and zebras from this spot.On the other side there is a fenced-off grassed area with a long patio, table and chairs and a hammock. This spot is great for a morning coffee while admiring the Witzenberg Mountains. The cottage has dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, stove and toasted-sandwich maker. There isn’t an oven or a toaster.

We have just spent three nights at Steenbok Cottage -Steenbok and Alwyn are two of 22 houses on Witzenberg Game Park. There are 10 – 15 Springbok, two Red Hartebeest and a few zebras (in a separate enclosure). We appreciate the lovely bottle of wine that was left for us and loved sitting out front of the house and enjoyed watching the many birds that came to visit. The wi-fi works really well and it was nice to have a dishwasher. If you plan to use the washing machine remember to take detergent with you.Unfortunately we experienced 29 hours without electricity due to an Eskom fault, which we appreciate could not be helped, but considering the number of times that the Western Cape has experienced load shedding recently, we felt that the house should have been equipped with several torches and working lanterns which was not the case. The Kol Kol wood fired bath is amazing but if this is going to be a feature at a holiday rental unlimited wood should be supplied as we found it took more than 5 hours to heat up – that is a lot of wood! The right side of the deck is completely open and not private at all - there is another property which can be seen from the deck. The pool at the conference center does not appear to be working at the moment and has hardly any water in it.Unfortunately this was a very disappointing trip and we won’t be returning.
