JNH website page is not open for reviews.JNH Projects owned by Jaco Potgieter was recommended to us as reliable contractor who is a little bit more expensive but does his work good. There was only “a little bit expensive” and NOTHING was done well neither from 1st time nor from the second. Literally everything they did should be re-done. We pre-paid to Jaco more than 80% of the entire cost for inside and outside house renovation, however, inside work was not finished and outside work was not started at the time Jaco and his team escaped. The matter is not just in poor workmanship but they destroy everything while working, including their own work. They installed new windows and sliding doors but windows were not sealed from outside at all, some walls were cracked during installation with even some bricks missing and that was not fixed. New sliding doors were covered with dry cement in all grooves after they plastered walls around from inside. Obscure glass window was installed to kitchen instead of bathroom. One bathroom window was installed with clear glass instead of obscure. They were not able to provide and install the handle and lock for one of the sliding doors. Re-tiled floors were not only tiled skew (without level and equal spaces between tiles) the team damaged and chipped the tiles by moving ladder over it. New tiles were not covered during wall and door painting, so the team was cleaning the tiles from paint by sand paper! There was no wall and door preparation before painting. Walls and doors were painted over old bubbled paint and even on top of the stickers. Two doors were not closing after they painted them and it was not fixed. They put pressed wood skirting in kitchen area (instead of tile or wood) which absorbed water and was destroyed after the 1t floor cleaning. Part of ceiling replaced by them revealed gap of at least 5cm between wall and ceiling after the 1st rain. They washed their cement and paint buckets in my kitchen stainless steel sink and put all their working tools on kitchen granite tops. They worked extremely dirty: the house looked as squatter camp with team using house toilets without flushing and with building garbage lying all around the house. All driveways and outside house walls are covered with cement and paint as Jaco’s team was mixing everything just on top of paving.We moved into the house in March and stayed with Jaco’s team there for 5 weeks. They were not able to do quality wall and doors paining during that time. There was not supervision from Jaco at all. He sent to the site his sub-contractor and was finger-pointing at him all the time I complained and tried to fix whatever was fixable. Jaco visited site twice for those 5 weeks with only aim to complain on bad times, poor cash flow and asked for more money. Nevertheless we paid around 85% (R280,000) of the entire project, some materials were not bough, work inside the house was not finished, work outside the house was not started. There was no financial report from Jaco at all. Strangely enough, Jaco was able to start his new business (Affipadaf Coffee Shop) during the course of our house renovation and even visited our house in his Affipadaf chef uniform with only aim: asking for more money. Jaco deserted the site after he realized we would not pay him more until he finished his job. During his departure, his team even took with them covers for newly installed plugs and switches. So we had to buy it over again. We had to find new contractor.
