Saw them removing bees from my neighbor. They just took the Queen in a box and left the rest of the colony behind. They first came the day before and it was like 13 degrees, very cold and doing the removal during the day. Ive read up about bee removal and this doesnt look like the way to do it! We know someone that does this as well, they even confirmed that this was wrong. I asked them why arent they using a bee vacuum but they just laughed at me. Now we have very angry bees coming into my house.

Dont use this company, as per Sidney Jones, beekeeper:As a Bee keeper with a number of years of experience working with bees I was travelling along Sanet Street in Northwold on the 18th of December at approximately 16h00 when I noticed a “Bee Removal” in progress. The removal was taking place in public space and there were no warning of any kind for the public that there was danger and a bee removal in progress.The colony had moved into an Electrical meter box on the perimeter of the road and the property situated in Sanet Street Northwold.There were two people dressed in Bee suits on site.The one “Bee keeper” had a white bucket next to him and was using a paint scraper to remove the remnants of comb from within the meter box.The bucket was full of broken and destroyed comb with disturbed bees flying around the bucket and the Electrical box which was their previous “home”I stopped my vehicle on the pavement and opened my passenger window and asked the two “bee keepers” what they were doing.On attempting to engage in discussion with them it soon became evident that after telling them that they were killing this swarm of bees that they were not going to engage in conversation with me.I parked my car and moved closer and took a number of pictures of the site and the bucket full of destroyed comb.On starting to take a video of what they were doing they became very aggressive and started pushing me around and trying to prevent me from videoing their activities.I then moved to their white bakkie registration FB 86 NX GP that was parked on the pavement and inside the bakkie there were a number of white buckets. In the one bucket there was another pile of destroyed comb and the remnants of the bees from that removed swarm crawling on the comb. 3 of the other buckets had lids on so I could not see the contents but assume they were also filled with removed bees and comb.I approached the owners of the property and in a lengthy discussion I was advise that they had found the bee removal company “Save All Bees” on the internet and were under the impression that they would not harm the bees as the name of the removal company suggested.The one beekeeper who overheard my discussion approached me and gave me his phone and said his boss wanted to talk to me. There was a lady on the phone who then asked me what my problem was. I discussion ensued with her, and I told her that as a bee keeper there was no ways that this swarm was being safely removed and that all they were doing was killing this swarm of bees. She requested that I should hold on and speak to her manager Charles. I held on for a while but unfortunately had an appointment to get to so I had to leave. I gave her my cell number and asked her to please get Charles to call me back which to date he has not done.While on the phone the one “bee keeper” returned from the bakkie with a vacuum cleaner with a small black inline container which as a result of the commotion I had caused and him speaking to his employer they were now obviously going to use as a “BeeVac” to try to remove the residual bees in the Electrical box. The inline container was very small and had no ventilation holes of any kind and any bees that were sucked up into this container would have died within a very short period of time due to the lack of ventilation and overheating.There were no catch boxes or hives or any other containers in the bakkie that could have been used to safely contain any bees before relocating them to a new site. In addition all the comb that was removed was broken and squashed into the buckets and could not be re used or placed on frames in a hive.From the activity witnessed and the equipment used as a bee keeper it was 100% apparent that there was no attempt to safely remove and relocate the bees and that any swarms removed in this manner would have zero chance of recovery after being removed in this way by the “Save All Bees” team.

Bees were removed very professionally, and most importantly, without harm to them. Some bees remained for 2 weeks (longer than expected) after removal, but SAB returned to remove them after they would not leave, free of charge.

We are in the bee removal industry and have been for over 30 years.In a recent Carte Blanche segment, we were blamed for dumping of huge amounts of honeycomb in an open veld, thus inferring that we don’t save the bees or rehive them?With a little research and the use of Google maps, it is very clear to see that this huge pile of dumped comb belongs to this company. I cannot and will not stand by while our name is dragged through the mud for this.
