It was definitely worth the visit, though nothing about the place was exceptional. I was pleasantly surprised to see Bengal Tigers, white Tigers and even a Liger there, and of course Lions. The enclosures were small for most of the animals and there was nothing special inside, just basic structures for the animals to play with. The animals looked fairly healthy though very sad. I do recommend the visit, though I dont think you would return any time soon.

If your kids love the wildlife and you want to spend the day outside for abit, this place is amazing. Plenty of play areas for the kids. The zoo has 3 different parks for the kids. The animals look well look aftered. The enclosures are very small for their size. However the experience was exhilarating as there is so much to see and the roaring of the lions are phenomenal. Absolutely amazing

Its a terribly sad experience. There is one lonely elephant who stands on the roadside waiting for visitors to picture him. There are way too many lions in one small enclosure. The dirt roads are narrow and are a nightmare to drive through. We were in and out within 30mins.

Extremely disappointed to see the poor condition of the zoo. Gardens and greenery unkept and overgrown. Animal enclosures untidy and not maintained seemingly for months. The current pandemic should not be used as an excuse for lack of maintenance. The park is still open to the public and staff are on site. Visiting this zoo a number of times over about 10 years, Ive noticed that the condition deteriorates more and more each time. This shows as the number of animal species housed there gradually decreases.Something needs to change 🤔

A great place to see some interesting animals & birds in the KwaZulu Natal province. Regarding the animals themselves the main attractions would definitely be the big cats (lions, tigers, leopards, even ligers). The experience of seeing such species as are there would certainly be enjoyed by children.Be prepared to walk a bit though. Not all the paths around the enclosures are paved so the trip would be better during good weather. There are also benches & tables for those who wish to picnic. A reasonable variety of food & beverages may also be purchased on site. From my experience, the wood fired pizza was really good.Overall personally I found it a good place to visit together as a family. Definitely would recommend people experience it.

It was a great experience to see the different species of animals. The restrooms are clean and fully stocked with soap, sanitizer and toilet roll. There are games that are available, putt putt is one of them. You can also feed the some animals which is exciting. And entrance fee is quite reasonable.

Took my daughter as this was her first experience. Personally, I wish I didnt. It was confirming to her that it is alright to keep animals in cages and this is how it supposed to be. The animals looked depressed. The saddest was the Orangutan. Hopefully things get better for this place for the sake of the animals.

Very much improved and a lovely outing for the family. There is now a putt putt course and place to picnic.

Va
Review №32

Condition of the cages are bad. most animals were pacing..... Pacing can be linked to captive stress syndroms, which occurs when animals are highly stressed because they dont feel safe or if they are simply bored. It shows what animals are looking for something. Maybe a place to hide, maybe something something to play with.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of animals and birds we got to see. That alone was worth it. This is a family friendly place with much to do for the children. Wear decent shoes for walking as the terrain is very uneven with steep uphills here and there but with lush tropical gardens. The food offered by the venue is ok. Make sure to get enough refreshments for the long walks. Toilets seem to be enough and they were clean. Would be nice to see gender neutral toilets and more disability friendly terrain for wheelchairs and for seniors.

Sadly one of the worst experiences, the state of this facility is in such dismay, the animals look like they are not cared for, the poor chimps have diseases and have no shade or toys, the large cats look so sad and thin like they are under fed. I woke up early and were on the road by 8 with the family armed with our picnic basket and braai stuff, only to come back with everything. So sad seeing these beautiful animals neglected

Review №56

It was exciting to see the variation of animals. And its exciting to see the enclosures of the larger animals being enlarged and extended. However, it was very littered when we visited. There was a group of school children, who were probably the reason behind it, but I hope that they would enforce littering as a serious offense so that people would know to keep it clean at all times.

Got to see alot of animals at the zoo such as foosas, Tigers, lions, lamas, alpacas, pigs, rabbits, birds etc.. Its an amazing place to take your family to, unfortunately we did not get to see the elephants and zebras on the 7km drive at the lion park. Either than that the overall experience was phenomenal.

We decided to visit the Natal Zoological gardens last Saturday and were absolutely disgusted by the experience. The tiger were kept in the tiniest enclosures that I have ever seen and it was heartbreaking to see them pacing up and down in pure agony. It was just as sad to see the chimps and orangutan sitting in misery. The general state of the zoo was run down und uncared for and we left after 20 minutes. I would not recommend that anyone support this establishment and honestly feel that it should be shut down and those poor animals relocated somewhere that they can be taken care of.

Plenty bird life, cats, monkeys, baboons, ducks, lions, lepoards, tigers, wild horses, bufflos, camels, pigs and much more. It seems like new owners have taken over. Seen some improvements done in and around the area. Toilets nice and clean with a picnic/braai/play area as well.
