Sandile! Thank you my man. This gentleman doesnt only know his products, he is kind patient and a super salesman. Went in with a defective saw and chain saw. Sandile tried his best to fix this machine with affordable 2nd hand parts but still couldnt get it to work safely. He then traded my old machine in and gave me discount on a brand new one. If I had go replace the shift and chain of my old chainsaw , I was R200 short of a new machine...easy decision. But listening to the other salesman (bit loud gray-hair gentleman), helping two ladies with a list of requirements from the hubby , it seems that Ryobi has an amazing policy of heling people. This guy too was extremely patient with. I saw him give them an old obsolete replacement part for free! I love my Ryobies even more. With such super back up and after sale service, I ambeven more chuffed with my decision. Thanks again Sandile.

Not even worth one star. Enrico Kritzinger, your customer service leaves much to be desired. I sent a email yesterday asking for confirmation that a dust bag for my belt sander has arrived from Joburg, which he promised to order. Didn’t get any response. When I called this morning Enrico sounded a bit tired. Asking if he got my email, I just get this grunt. He says he will go check with the stock department if it has arrived, please stay on the line. Needless to say after 4 minutes waiting, my airtime ran out and still waiting for a call back. I am loosing business because I don’t have a functioning belt sander. Thanks Ryobi

Spent 30 + mins waiting to speak to Buntu , who called me the day before to collect my parts that i ordered. Firstly he couldnt find the parts while he walked up and down with his niknaks chip packet in his hand and blamed someone else for not know where the part was and then argued with me for not wanting to buy the display item and spoke to me like he was doing me a favour. Very disappointed that I had to take time of my day to come back without the parts and the arrogance of this individual.

Went to get a new bag for my garden vacuum blower. Not in stock and obsolete so bought a new one. Staff helpful but Covid-19 protocols slack. Staff and other customers not wearing masks properly. Felt very unsafe and uncomfortable.

Cape Town branch...I want to purchase a machine, so, I call a landline number and then it connects me to some other system that charges cell rates while I hold on for 7 min listening to music? I eventually put the phone down and call back. Some office lady I presume answers within 2 minutes and says hold i am putting you through to sales, then the phone dies. You guys must be having record breaking sales as customers obviously dont matter and are forced to carry the cost of your preferred telecoms?Fortunately there are other suppliers of the same product.

HiTo whom it may concern.I bough a Ryobi Circular saw at Mica Durbanville in February 2021.What a mistake I made to do that.Been using Ryobi power tools since they came on the market. When starting up the saw it was making a noise at the armature as if the bearings are worn.Be that as may we finished using it that day, so that I can take it back.Mica told me that I must take it to the service center in Montagu gardens.I few months later I was in Montagu gardens area and booked in the machine. The next day they phoned me and told me it will cost me x amount to be fixed on witch my reply wasThat a new machine that did not work properly on day one. I will not. The gentleman then said he will look in to it. He phoned me back and said they will fix it under warranty for free and that it will be ready in a day or two.A week went by and got a email that machine is ready and I must pay x amount. This is where it started to go from bad service to extremely bad service.I phoned in and could not remember the gentleman’s name whom handled my case, and also nobody in the service center want to acknowledge whom deled with me ,that person was now dead. Should have wrote his name down. You must remember every time I deal with a new consultant I must explain every thing concerning the Machine again in detail of which was a annoying thing on its own. Bad service. Now I am dealing with Sandile and went threw the whole explanations again and again it was said that it will be repaired for free.Today I got email that it is repaired and I must pay x amount again. Now again you can understand why my blood is boiling. I phoned again to address the situation only to find out Sandile will only be back on Friday. The consultant told me some guard needs replaced because it’s a consumable and parts needed to be ordered . At first it was bearings. It seems that they keep on adding things and dam it, it is a disgrace how the service center operates. He said that the x amount is for the guard. Whom are u trying to fool. If this is the way u are treating your Ryobi customers I am out , will not buy any Ryobi power tools in the future. I still have a Drill x2, plainer, Sander, jigsaw, steel cut off saw, Cordless drill and Hilty drill of witch is all Ryobi.I hope that this gets to somebody who can do something about this bad service. Now I am waiting till Friday for Sandile. What a waste of time.Regards Marius

Extremely poor service and deplorable attitude from the front end salesperson. I would appreciate an attitude of there was a mess up, so let us see how we can assist you as customer. Instead I got an attitude of you talked with Johannesburg, this is not our practice, do you want to take your machine, and a crude skewing of the facts. I had to ask for the manager and the lady treated me better. To think I traveled all this distance for this horrendous service.

Worst service ever, called to just be put on hold and hung up on finally get through and ask about the repairs on my genarator (quote said it needed a spark plug) I get told it will only be ready in 2days and that I shouldnt expect 5star service because they service the whole of the western Cape. This is not my problem open another branch if you are clearly so busy you cant even answer your phone or change a spark plug, a job I could have done in 2min not Two days. And as a side note this generator is 1month old and run for about 30hours

I had a very GOOD service experience from Ryobi Service Centre.I called in and asked for information to set up a table saw I acquired 2nd hand. The counter salesman Buntu really went the extra mile for me!He sent me the parts list of the machine and then, when I called him back, he went into their workshop and with the assistance of his engineers made 3 videos to demonstrate the assembly and working of specific accessories. Thanks Buntu - that is what I consider walking the extra mile. You are an asset to your employer in these troubled times!

Had to ask for quote multiple times before I got it. All their prices are way over retail prices. A Ryobi Grinder at Makro is R850 but they quoted me at R1200 (Same tool) which is more expensive than even a Industrial Hilti Branded grinder. The other tools I got quoted on were equally way over priced. Even when I pointed this out to them I got absolutely no reply.

Ryobi should seriously consider adjusting their prices. They do not come cheap but the quality of the products are not worth the penny. We have bought more than one Ryobi item (from a lawnmower to a Leaf blower and everything inbetween) all of which broke within a year or less of purchase.......NOT WORTH THE PRICE!

I purchased a Ryobi RLT1002 Line Trimmer from Builders Warehouse in Tokai Cape Town on the 01/05/2020A hasty purchase at the time not knowing if Covid-19 was going to cause another lockdown as my previous line trimmer had given up the ghost during lockdown. The first time I got around to using my new trimmer was on the 30/05/2020I noticed after about 10 minutes of use that there was a burning smell coming from the machine. On investigation I found that it was coming from the cutting head which was then “melting” onto the lower shaft to which the cutting head attaches which was too hot to touch. On further investigation and dismantling of the cutting head it was completely melted onto the shaft to which it attaches and the small shaft it attaches to was boiling hot.I took the unit back to Builders Tokai where they were helpful and took note of the problems with the RLT1002 as above and took the unit in for return to Stevens & Co. Cape Town for evaluation. I was told that the evaluation/repair would take 10-21 days. I was duly contacted within that period and collected the unit from Builders on 12/06/2020. The Upper Flexible Shaft had been replaced as well as the Bump/Cutting Head.On reassembling the unit I noticed that the grass deflector/safety guard that had also suffered melting where it attaches to the lower shaft but was not replaced. We then went back out to the front desk where Mr Ross was called.Mr Ross then tried all sorts of angles to put the blame somewhere else other than the fact that the Ryobi Line Trimmer was faulty, even going as far as to say that he thought I had different grass to anybody else and was I cutting my entire lawn with the trimmer, how big was my lawn etc. etc. Not listening to the fact that I had used the unit for 10mins 1st time and 5mins 2nd time.Mr Ross would just not listen to my diagnosis that the lower shaft was faulty. The attachment (that the head screws onto) “bearing system” was just too stiff/binding and causing the heat build up and causing the lower shaft to destroy the upper flexible shaft where they connect as there was just too much friction somewhere in the lower shaft.Mr. Ross was not interested in replacing the lower shaft, or replacing the entire unit for whatever reason, and would not go through another trial of switching on the machine again for a few minutes to experience for himself the heat build-up, saying that he did not have time for this.Mr Ross got quite aggressive in his approach throwing the machine on the floor behind the counter when I said I was not leaving with the faulty unit and wanted a new one or new lower shaft replacement. These units do carry a 24 months warranty. He then said I would have to “upgrade” the unit if I did not want that one.By then I had had enough of that unit and Mr Ross’s attitude (after my 6th trip between Builders and Stevens and a total of 15mins use in 2 months) and i just wanted to get out of there.I then agreed to an “upgrade” to a RLT1000 not knowing what the price would be.He then came up with a charge of R450.00 which I paid and I left with the new unit only too pleased to leave the very unpleasant environment that I had been subjected to.On checking various outlets that sell the RLT1000 I found out that you could buy the RLT1000 for R1,300 . I had paid R1,100.00 for the RLT1002.Mr Ross had checked the Builders purchase slip before he came up with the R450.00 figure for the “upgrade” ?Besides feeling that I have been overcharged for the so-called “upgrade” it was a very unpleasant experience dealing with Mr Ross and Stevens & Co. Cape Town.I’m not sure what I want or expect out of reporting this incident and the treatment I received.Maybe the refund of my “upgrade” fee would be appropriate.
