What a beautiful location!! The staff are friendly and amazing. The breakfast menu is varied, so it appeals to all tastes. The only down side is that I couldnt stay long enough to have lunch, which, by the description of todays specials is absolutely mouthwatering!! Oh yes!! The decor is lovely (including the ladies bathroom!!!)

Decided on Simons for a birthday lunch. Great atmosphere with the live band. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We got the live band to sing happy birthday as well.One con is the time we waited for the food to arrive, otherwise, everything else was perfect.

We went here after our wine tasting because we needed some food after all that wine.I had the cheeseboard and my wife had the mussels. We ordered starter portions , but they were pretty sizeable.Service was great but our food did take a bit of time to arrive.

Great location and good food. We even had a live singer delivering smooth jazz in dulcet tones which added to the ambience. Prices not over the top. Great wheelchair access. My only disappointment was the mussels - small portion and even smaller on shell size. Dont order the mussels. Even PicknPay has better sized mussels.

I visited the restaurant with my partner this past Sunday (25 July 2021). I ordered the Braised Pork Belly and my partner had the Catch of the Day which was Kingklip. Our meals were prepared and ready for us in good time. We both absolutely enjoyed our meals.Prosper, who was our waiter, was simply delightful. He was both friendly and attentive.For dessert, we ordered a slice of cheesecake to share. It was as tasty as it always is! In the past when we have ordered the cheesecake, it has been beautifully presented. This time, however, it seemed the slice was just thrown onto a side plate and given to us also without the berry coulis as is normally drizzled. We had to ask for the coulis separately and it be brought to us afterwards. This was our only disappointment.

This is a wonderful venue and its great to have outdoor or well ventilated seating. Staff are friendly . Unfortunately I have now eaten the grilled hake at Simons twice . It was disappointing. A bit too big and not very hot I tasted that oiliness one gets when its old. My feeling is that its precooked earlier and reheated when ordered . Not good. As for freshness why cant we get really fresh hake ?? On both occasions it tasted as if it had been deep frozen for a while.

Its been around for years... Yet keeps re-inventing itself. Just love it. Well Done. Only 2 minor issues which i is why i couldnt give it 5 stars this time. It was a bit stuffy and too hot inside and my food which was amazing anyway ... Arrived on the cold side.

Amazing Restaurant on a wine farm with spectacular views.Theres loads of space and places to sit from inside, covered outdoor and tables outside. The food was fantastic and a great selection with a good variety of wines. Not too bad on the wallet either, especially considering the setting.Its child friendly but still quite formal yet comfortable. The staff were very friendly and quite accommodating and have blankets imfor outside when its cold.Definitely worth checking out!

I had the pleasure of enjoying this restaurant last weekend and have made another reservation for this coming weekend.My business partner and myself spent an entire Saturday working at Simons and we were treated so well! Staff is lovely, friendly and so helpful and accommodating.The cherry on top was the manager Ezra, he was warm, conversational and so welcoming. He is smart, funny and a family man. We loved his check in and that he was aware of us all the time.Cant wait to go back, thank you Ezra, you made our experience and so did our waiter Joel!

Lovely place, Groot Constantia. Very busy though, the food was simple and delicious. I will go back sometime. Wine excellent, (Chardonnay). Bathrooms were a bit shabby, perhaps overused and busy.

14th August 2021Yet another splendid dinner at Simons which is situated on the 300 year old Farm, Groot Constantia.The management and staff went to an enormous and most appreciated effort to Covid-isolate our dining area as we had a young guest who is in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy. This allowed us to relax in the beautiful atmosphere and enjoy our dinner which was a any critics dream meal.Our waiter, young Prosper, showered us in attention with his charm and knowledge of the menu.Simons must be ranked as one if thé best restaurants in Southern Cape Town.We enjoyed an array of starters which were artfully plated and met with the highest standards.Our main meals were generous and perfectly prepared.The deserts were simply delectable.My sincere thanks to Simons who made it possible to entertain a covid vulnerable young family member who were reluctant to expose herself to to the general public while pregnant.Congratulations on your faultless planning.

Great service, beautifully appointed (you can be snug near the fireplaceor or comfortable al fresco), lovely food, outstanding coffee. And even your dog companions are catered for outside.

Amazing atmosphere and food for my moms b day

Our first visit to Simon’s .An impressive setting and great ambience .. however it was a birthday celebration and was asked for the name of the birthday person so was expecting a little acknowledgment .Nothing forthcoming sadly .The staff are well trained and organised and attentive.We ordered the mussels main and as regular mussel eaters were disappointed .The sauce was very bland and thin. The accompanying bread very doughy.. normally have ciabatta .Otherwise a lovely afternoon

Wow what can I say ...this place is a hidden gem ...and its been in my backyard all my life...we only visited because it was highly recommended by our neighbor. We had a fantastic time, the venue, view and atmosphere is beyond spectacular. Above all the the service we received from Josh Flemming (waiter) was beyond our expectations what a cool energetic kind young man , he even gave us some insight with regards to the history of the estate, his knowledge about the menu was on point keep up the good work Josh we will definitely be visiting soon!!!

Love the new decor. The huge fireplace just perfect for Cape winters. Greatly impressed by the manager acknowledging that the bacon served with our breakfast was not good and the matter would be addressed. However on my first visit I pointed out to the waiter that it would be better to have no flowers on the table rather than dead ones. Friends went for breakfast yesterday. Happy to report that bacon was good but flowers 🤭😒

Helpful Staff & Tasty FoodWe visited the restaurant once, while visiting Groot Contantia winery tour. The staff & chef were so cordial & helpful that they made a special burger for us which was not even in the menu. As we are vegetarian & nothing was there in the menu for us, they made it specially for us. Even I repeated the order once more. I was so delighted by the behavior of the staffs that I am writing this review after 2 years of my visit.Thank you Simons Restaurant, keep making your customers happy

Good food, lovely atmosphere with beautiful views. Wonderful for walking your dogs, followed by a meal in the outdoor section. They even have a menu for the dogs!

Service decor and prices were good, but they offered spare ribs on their special. The ribs were old, over cooked and left both my wife and I feeling nauseous. Our companions had calamari, which they said was nice.

The pictures speak for themselves. My tastebuds were over the moon, it was just a pity I could not try all their menu. After visiting Groot constancia be sure to pass by simons.

Simons is currently my favorite restaurant. Theyve reinvented themselves and are a funky venue with cool offerings. Date night, burger night and the Saturday comedy shows are great.

Simons really let themselves down today. Terrible reception from hostess who argued about the booking. Second host as bad. Seated at a tiny table for two in what felt like the ‘naughty corner’ . Asked us to move twice after that. Service not good as waiter took ages to take the order, food was cold albeit it was tasty. Didn’t feel like it was value for money at all.

Always an awesome experience. This place is busy. Plenty of people and cars. Waiters are friendly and attending to tables, but the best is the setting. The mountains, the ambience, the prices are good too. Wine selection is very far and wide, not just the local farms wines but the best from Darling and Stellenbosch too. There are several restaurants on the property but this one seems to be the most popular. Definitely a must go too.

On a perfect day as today was, the setting and ambiance is so pleasing that food is almost secondary. This is a large professional restaurant with inside and outside dining options, ample parking and very safe on the Groot Constantia estate.The lunch menu on the day has something for everyone although a bit short of vegetarian options different to the regular options. Overall good food well prepared and simple fresh ingredients which is great. Pricing is acceptable in the setting and as they are also child and pet friendly making family outings relaxing and pleasant. Todays service was a bit slow but its not an eat and out type of place. Overall a great experience.

On 4th September our group booked to celebrate a birthday lunch at Simons.It was very busy and probably overbooked.There was no social distancing between the tables or seating.The staffing was an inadequate for the numbers present and consequently overwhelmed.We ordered water for our end of the table about 5 times..... never arrived.The food orders took ages to arrive.There was an inadequate supply of cutlery and side plates.Eventually we had to get our own.The salads and burgers were adequate.Management should have anticipated this.Overall a disappointment.

This is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely green setting on the Capes oldest wine farm. The atmosphere is tranquil and the menu simple, yet interesting. Theres something available for most tastes and moods. The service is good too. Very much worth a visit.

We had a superb lunch at Simons Restaurant on the Groot Constancia Estate. The food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive without being overbearing. Coming from London in the middle of winter this was a very welcome afternoon with friends. After lunch I wandered around the estate which is delightful. Highly recommended for a relaxing afternoon

Appalled by the absolute arrogance and rudeness of the owner of Simons restaurant at Groot Constantia. Participated as a vendor in a recent weekend expo at this restaurant. The owner was beyond rude, arrogant and so entitled that it was actually sickening. Blatantly ignored polite requests to my (and other vendors) faces and he decided to rather go sit and drink in his restaurant. Who ever this man is, he should not own this restaurant or even be in the services industry at all. Your restaurant / venue will not enjoy my (or my circle of friends) support ever again.

If you want to feel like a tourist in your own country then come here! The food is well presented by super friendly staff who go out of their way to accommodate you. Ill definitely return and be happy to bring my foreign friends too. Thumbs up

3.5 stars. Simons has been redone in the last few years and the decor is warm and inviting inside. The setting outside is so beautiful, definitely cant complain about that. We were there for breakfast and I have to say the menu was limited. Firstly there is no drinks menu, which I find strange. Secondly there were no vegan friendly food options which I find unbelievable in this day and age. So the place is great if you are after a standard cooked breakfast meal but if you have dietary requirements, I would recommend Jonkershuis instead as they have several vegan options including milk alternatives which are listed on their drinks menu.

A massive THANK YOU to Ezra Abrahamse Manager of the restaurant. We met him about 4 weeks ago when we visited the restaurant. What a friendly, helpful and interesting person.But last night we visited the restaurant again and Ezra was once again on duty, for which we are very thankful. We arrived at the restaurant by Uber, once the evening was done we were unable to get an Uber to collect us at the restaurant and that was just after 21h15. Ezra offered to take us home which he did going out of his way dropping us at our doorstep. What great service not only in the restaurant but going the extra mile for his clients. Beautiful setting with spacious tables in the shade of old oak trees. Very good value for money as regards both food and drink. Service good with friendly and efficient waitrons. Wine tasting is available a short walk away. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic, superbly organized Skal International Past Presidents lunch last week,with amazing industry icons attending. The attention to detail, from individual food preferences, to decor and service, was superb. We were group of approx 20 and comments from all were all so positive, wish could have recorded.The newly revamped premises are awesome. Do yourself a favor and book your next special group there or even a great date night(special deals for that too) cannot rate Simons highly enough.

After an early morning walk on the Groot Constantia Estate, its a nice place to stop for breakfast. The coffee is good (although the cups are rather small) and the croissants are excellent!

Dropped in for an early Sunday lunch after a walk in the vineyards. Good food served by friendly staff. Icy beers served in a chilled glass always a great sign. The Prego chicken will put most Portuguese restaurants to shame. Will definitely be back.

Booked telephonically on Tuesday for Saturday at 11h00 in the main dining area with the fireplace.Received an sms confirming all of the above.My friend arrived before me and was told there was no booking and was seated in the conservatory where there were no other patrons at that stage.I arrived and showed the booking to the hostess and asked to be moved accordingly.Was told that there was an error and they did not have a table for us - even though the restaurant was quite.After 15 minutes they took us upstairs where there was going to be a private birthday party and then realised there was no seating for us.Took us back downstairs where we showed them all the empty tables and they seated us in the main dining area as confirmed.After 5 minutes we were approached and told that the waiter seated us incorrectly and that we could stay but had to vacate by 12h15 - leaving us 45 minutes to order and eat. We declined and proceeded to order.Thereafter we were approached 2x to ask us to be seated elsewhere!We declined and stood our ground.Then the manager approached us again - this still with many, many tables standing vacant, and asked if he could offer us complimentary coffees on condition that we move but this time to 2 seats with a small side table.We are beyond disgusted!!!This was totally unacceptable and clearly they made an error and were making it our problem. We were harassed continually. At one stage extra décor was just dumped on our table and left there whilst they seated other guests.Such a pity as the revamp is absolutely gorgeous, the food and wine superb and even our poor waiter was lovely.We paid for our meals and drinks in full and no apologies were given - the hostess and staff conveying the messages to us were quite brittle and unapologetic at all times.

Beautiful restaurant and good food, but disappointed in the lack of communication from staff who after one and a quarter hours had to shift us from our table elsewhere because new guests had arrived for this table. We were given no indication before.We were moved to a couch section (in view of the reception area) of the restaurant which had seating for three, yet we were four.Our booking was for 10.30 am and by 11.45, barely having eaten, we were shifted.We found this appalling and called over the manager. Manager was extremely apologetic and insisted on cake and tea on the house.We accepted that then, but I want to point out the principle of the matter here.In hindsight, we should never have allowed ourselves to be shifted and should have insisted staff make another plan for the other party.Lesson learnt!This occurred on Sunday 8th August.DebbieRondebosch East

Great place to visit and enjoy the vineyards and Constantiaberg mountains. Place is at Groot Constantia. No entry fees charged. Walk around the historic buildings and manor house. Views across False Bay. Restaurant has good menu with various wines on offer. Great for a light meal or cold drinks with seating outside or inside. Views are excellent with a very relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the meal and wine. Average prices and cheap for patrons with hard foreign currency. Menu had a wide choice.

Great place!

Booked for Valentines day lunch. Always a lovely view of the vineyard. We werent told about the special and therefore did not order the belly of pork. Starters were pleasing but the salads for main lacked flavour. Good glass of bubbles. No effort to make the Valentines feel special.

And I The restaurant has a nice flow in the layout. The service is top notch with and super fast. The food was exquisite I would highly recommend the Ribs, Cajun Patagonia Calamari, Baked Cheesecake and the Chocolate Mouse. The barman is so generous with his level of alcohol in his cocktails and I loved the Margherita. Beautiful scenery and views as well. For those who prefer they do picnics which need to be ordered 24 hours in advance.

The service and attention to detail is exceptional. Grant was awesome and ticked all the boxes for what one would expect at a fine restaurant like this and went beyond. The menu is not too big not too small but is varied and caters for most tastes. The wine list too. I would rate this menu and wine list at RR in terms of cost. The setting is beautiful with views of the slopes of the adjacent vineyard. Set on a wine farm a trip here can be enjoyed with a wine tasting and cellar tour experience on the attached famous Groot Constantia.Went to the restaurant a second time and the experience was as great as the first time around if not better. Georgia, our attendant was a delight, I am rightfully tempted to say she raised the bar in terms of service. We left more impressed and will surly be back soon. This place simply continues to deliver in all facets of service. Well done to the team.

Incredible setting, great wine at a reasonable price but the food is pretty average. Neither great nor bad. Service was below par. No introduction from the waitress, topped up own drinks the entire time and asked for things (Ice bucket and bill) multiple times before arriving. Honestly there are better options in the winelands

We had take away cuppachinos hot chocolate for the kids and they shared a slice of delicious carrot cake.Friendly helpful service and safe seating outside due to the lockdown.We enjoyed our coffee break in tranquil beautiful surroundings.

Very nice day out and picnic. There was no preserve to balance out the savoury items on the menu. They happily gave us a pear preserve once we asked. Maybe they could consider adding or offering a fig preserve with the picnic.

Food was very plain, ordered starters then cancelled mains to go somewhere else. Great decor but poor effort from the kitchen, also most of the sparkling wine by the glass was out of stock.

We were with a group. Great decor and the food was good , but we waited over one and half hours for our food.

The food here is amazing! Pork belly or Butter Chicken are just the best. Servicenis on point and the food is ready in the blink of an eye. Definately heading back here in the future

Waited two hours for our food and my vegan burger was tasteless. Word of advise, give customers something to snack on if you’re going to take two hours to bring the food.

The food was so great, the venue was so lovely, especially outside on the terrace, the views were impeccable and the service was good too. The wine is slightly overpriced compared to the rest of Cape Town, but great nonetheless.
